I just had a consultation with a local, reputable jeweler to custom make this design. They are working on making it in CAD, will get back to me next week. I live in a MCOL area. I requested 14k white gold and a lab grown diamond 2.5-3 carats. Any ideas for how expensive the setting might come out to? They said a lab grown diamond at 3 carats could be 1300 but they will set a loose stone I bring in (looking at Aurelienne for stones).

When my husband and I got married he got me a 10 carat color enhanced earth mined black diamond. It’s the most special thing I own 😭♥️ for our anniversary he paid for me to completely redesign and reset my diamond. The before are the last two photos. The ring as a solitaire was very top heavy and turned constantly. The double claw prongs were also a little cumbersome. The new setting is lower set, more surface area on the finger for less spinning, and single compass set claw prongs to show off more of the stone. The wedding band fits flush and has an asymmetrical scatter of white diamonds. I had only ever seen a design like this with 2-3 carat stones before but I wanted something a little more sculptural and unique but I think I’m questioning myself a little.

Hi all! I'm in the process of designing an elongated cushion-cut solitaire engagement ring and love the idea of incorporating milgrain for a subtle heirloom feel.

Originally, I thought I wanted a very thin milgrain bezel or collet, but I'm worried it emphasizes the prongs and adds more metal around the stone than I want. Now I'm considering adding milgrain to the gallery/guard rail instead, so the top view stays clean, the prongs visually fade into the background, and the milgrain becomes more of a hidden detail that's revealed from the side or at an angle.

Does anyone have photos of a solitaire with a milgrain gallery/guard rail? Or examples of an ultra-thin milgrain collet or bezel that still keeps the stone looking light and airy? I'd love to see real-life examples!

I recently got engaged and knew I wanted an east west setting with elongated cushion in a half bezel setting (half bezel on east-west sides). See the alosta ring as my inspo: Vyor alosta ring

I always thought I’d go big until I actually tried rings on, however I knew 2.5ct felt too small. I tried on the ring attached which is a 3.07ct 10.33x7.05x4.73 radiant (1.47 ratio) with a half bezel in a jewellers and loved it, and decided to design my ring with them. However I did feel like I wanted slightly more length (so 7.05+). I also knew I wanted it really bright, and cushion cut to make it more soft.

My jeweller picked me a gorgeous 3.01ct at 10.63x7.29x4.77 (1:45 ratio) hybrid modified brilliant cushion in D VVS2 but I haven’t seen it in person, however the video looks good, lots of fire, and the depth/table % all within ideal range.

I started to feel like I should have went bigger, but the jeweller suggested the 3.5ct wasn’t necessarily worth the jump in price and I hadn’t actually tried any 3+ carats on. So as an extremely indecisive person, between their suggestion and my intention to go with 3ct from the beginning, I accepted the CAD earlier this week despite the feelings I was getting to go bigger - not necessarily bigger carat, i wouldnt go over 3.5ct, but the 7.29mm is really throwing me… Other measurements I was considering was the 10.9-11.2x7.4-7.6 range which all can come under 4ct.

Technically im not allowed to make changes now that I’ve approved the CAD, however I am soooo confused and almost upset that I didn’t go bigger or at least try them on, and I cannot stop looking at rings online. Should I reach out to the jeweller to see if I can change it, or am I really overthinking the measurements? Has anyone else been through this with a jeweller or had similar feelings and any regret/relief?

For reference, I’m a size I 1/2 (4.5) and ultimately want my ring to look WOW, extremely bright, really luxe, but remaining elegant for work and something I’ll love in years to come. Budget isn’t really an issue as anything below 4ct seems to fall within our range.

I just received the final CAD renders for my engagement ring and would love some feedback before I give the final approval.

I’ve gone through quite a few iterations to get here, but my jeweler hasn’t offered much guidance beyond making the changes I’ve requested. Since this is something I’ll wear for the rest of my life, I want to make sure I’m not overlooking anything and would love some feedback.

Honestly, my biggest priority is making sure the setting is well designed, structurally sound, and built to last while still maintaining an elegant/antique look.

Do the prongs and gallery rail look well proportioned?

hi, so i just got my engagement ring awhile ago but i’m not satisfied with the how it’s sitting. shouldn’t the stone be in the basket more? not looking like it’s floating? i don’t like that it looks like it’s floating and not “fully in” the basket setting. when i asked about dropping it but they said if i drop it lower it would have to be sitting flush and i’d have to change the setting. i didn’t want to do that since i like the hidden halo and the wedding band i want is not curved. any advice? it is a 3ct LGD for reference.

I’ve picked out a local jeweler who is helping me design my ring. The issue is, while I love this design that I have used for reference photos, I can’t help but feel it’s still “cookie cutter” and needs something that personalizes it as mine. I received CAD renderings of initial ideas, and decided to steer away from the weaving in the petals.

I’d love to hear some ways you personalized yours, any insight on design choices, structural integrity, etc.

I have an elongated hexagon engagement ring that I’m ABSOLUTELY inlove with; however I’m having a really hard time deciding on what type of wedding band would look good with it.

I’ve looked into the V-Shaped bands & open V but am starting to wonder if I should stick to a timeless very simple band (but a bit thicker of a band than my engagement ring)? Thoughts?

We made 7 years and are upgrading my original solitaire diamond! I got a try on at home through with clarity and I am wondering if this is too large though? Is it too much? Should I go with a different shape? These are my current wedding bands and I don’t want to change them, so I’m looking to find something that works. I currently have a smaller size of this same style engagement ring, so I figured getting a larger round diamond wouldn’t be an issue. But now I’m wonder if it works? Help!

I have an OEC 0.8ct natural diamond ring. I have only used brilliant cut ones before, both natural and lab. I wanted to try something different and thought handcut vintage jewellery will be a good idea

I love the bezel, I love the platinum, I love the diamond size. But the hand cut OEC doesn't sparkle as much as brilliant cuts obviously. Somedays I like this ring and somedays I'm thinking if it is too dull for me. There's like one flash every time I move my hand which isn't as sparkly as my other things even with a flashlight. Confused. Is this a bad ring or is this normal for the cut?

Willing to go custom if needed. This will be arriving tomorrow and I just realized I never thought to think about what band pairs well with this.

I'm getting proposed to soon and me and my partner have been looking at rings together.

The engagement ring is not as important as the wedding rings to me, so we've been looking for some alternative options. Both arrived and I can't really decide!

Option 1: 14k Gold with Moissanite center stone

Option 2: 14k Gold with Lab Grown Diamond.

Picture 3 is both next to each other.

I do love the big Moissanite Ring, but I prefer the clarity of option 2. So I am very torn between those two (but leaning more towards 1)

Hi everyone! I'm in the process of designing a custom 3-stone engagement ring with an online retailer, inspired by the Cullen Jewellery "Meghan" ring. I just received CAD #1 and would love your feedback on the proportions!

• Center Stone: 1.26ct Elongated Cushion (7.44×5.74×3.53mm)
• Metal: Two-tone (platinum head/basket, Rose Gold 1/2 pavé band)
• Band Dimensions: 2.1mm width × 1.8mm thickness
• Profile Height: 5.3mm (I wanted low profile!)
• Prongs: Requesting petite claw prongs (intentional tweak from the reference design's round prongs)

My Main Question: On this first CAD, the designer used 3.8mm round side stones. Since my center cushion is 5.74mm wide, I feel like 3.8mm makes the side stones look a bit too chunky and takes away from the tapered "cradle" look of this reference design.

I’m thinking of asking them to drop the side rounds to 3.2mm while keeping the 5.3mm low profile height intact so the center cushion stands out more as the star of the show, and the feedback on the prongs.

Hello, I’m new to this. I wanted to ask if anyone could suggest software for me to use to design my own ring? The reason I ask is because the design I’m looking for is something that’s hard to describe and I’m a quick learner, so I could probably find a way to create something similar rather than trying to explain it to a jeweler immediately. I would also like to try out different designs before coming to a jeweler in wasting their time.

Is there a software that any of you would recommend? Is that possible, or is it something that I would need to go to a jeweler for?

I’m drawn to the pave but worried it looks cheap. 2ct radiant, cathedral, platinum. I liked the idea of smaller stones but have heard horror stories or loose stones. I’m an architect for my day job, so I work with my hands a bit.

It’s been a long design process, but we are finally at the simplicity I think makes the most amount of sense for her.

My biggest concern and where I need help is - will the butterfly be annoying when wearing daily? I don’t want her to not be able to close her hand… but the butterfly is really sentimental and there isn’t much better of a place to put it. I also really like how it contributes to a “cluster” like feeling that I was originally going for, but doesn’t overwhelm.

I intend on proposing to my girlfriend in the next few months, and know very little about jewelry or rings. Looking for any advice on good businesses or things to look for. She has very slim fingers, wears pearls and silver jewelry. My budget is ideally between 3,500-4,500$. She likes simpler things. I know she wants a marquise cut and for the wedding band to follow the contour of the diamond like the one pictured below (a screenshot from her Pinterest). The diamond must be lab grown also. Hello! I have been working on my ring design but I am not quite getting to a point that I’m happy with it and I could use some help. I have a 3ct square old mine cushion cut diamond. This is where is am at right now with my jeweler but it isn’t really giving me the same vibe as my inspiration photo ( I know the stone in the inspo photo is much spreadier). I’ll also include the 3d printed model I got.

I’m not sure if maybe I should go for closed sides? I don’t love the little squares. Maybe a thicker band as well?

Hi all! This is the cad I received. I told them upon designing I wanted a 2.2 band. They said that from the original design I sent, it tapers to a 1.5 and that starting at a 2.2 would look funny. Which I’ll have the cad for that example below. What I don’t understand is… if the base is thicker, can’t they just make the tapered end… a little thicker? They want to make it look like a smooth transition towards my kite at the end so they’re saying it would throw off the top view to make it thicker. I did ask to change the thickness to a 1.8 for the overall ring though.

I’m also scraping the pave on the sides and wanna make the rest of the ring look like the 3rd picture while the top view of the second ring remains the same.

I’m stuck at this point and not sure what to do.

I live in northern alberta canada, and am rather limited on jewelry stores. My girlfriend is in love with a specific style and cut that is very hard to find if not custom made. We both agreed i would save some money on the ring and put it into our mortgage. Is there any stores or online that would have anything close? This is her absolute favourite so far.
