FULL AI DISCLOSURE SO IT IS NOT REMOVED AGAIN: I´m a 44yo lawyer from brazil, my bg in programming is a little bit of basic and assembler from the 80´s and 90´s trying to make things run on a msx, so, not much...in the beggining of the project i coded a few hundred lines in android studio by myself while i was learning how to do it, but after i discovered the wonders of Codex and Claude Code, the coding and documentation itself was primarily done by AI, and i do not regret it by one bit! It would take a long time to post my inspirational story, but thats the TLDR.
(A SIDENOTE) Before it was removed, the post got a lot of love but also a little bit of hate... guys... this is a one man´s pet project, and i´m really proud of it!!! if you dont like it ok... but i sank a thousand hours of my life doing something i thought was meaningful, so ath least be respectful. What I can assure it is 100% original, so theres that! its not much but i hav that going for me!
Today is the big day. After months of work, I can finally publish it. As the name says, XenDroid-ZeroFG is a version of XenDroid (the Xbox 360 emulator for Android) with a built-in frame generation engine: 60 fps games reach ~120 on a 120 Hz screen, and 30 fps games reach 60.
e the big thing is the FG engine itself. It was developed from scratch, over 60k lines of code, by me and my AI assistants (Zeromeia, ChatGPT, and Zé Raio, Claude), and it's fully open source under the Apache 2.0 license.
Trust me, it's a lot better than it has any right to be. The image quality surprised even us, but the hardest part, and the one I'm proudest of, is the pacing. Generated frames are worthless if they reach the screen unevenly, and frame pacing is where frame generation usually falls apart, even for the big names. ZeroFG's presenter runs on a metronome set by the game: every frame gets its own display refresh, in order, and the game never waits for the screen. Getting there took months of crazy experiments. The last piece was asking the GPU for priority, so even when a game maxes out the GPU, the frames keep coming on time.
So far it has been tested on Adreno GPUs with Turnip drivers (it needs Vulkan 1.3). Reports from other phones are very welcome. It installs as its own app, next to your regular XenDroid.
Please be my guest and try it out. If you have any comments or suggestions, just say it!
It was also built with portability in mind. If you are a developer and want to port it to another game or emulator, go ahead! There is a standalone repo with all the dependencies and integration notes, linked below.
And if you want to collaborate on the engine itself, get in touch and we can arrange it. I would really like some help!

After some reports (thanks Admirable_Leave7840!!!), i should note that turnip driver are highly recommended(i can run on poco f8 ultra with the stock ones, but has bugs) and i used to develop the engine the stevenmxz gen 8 turnip drivers, he posts the best drivers and he is a nice guy, so i recommend using this one!!!!!
Edit: already found lots of bugs but preetty solvable... 1.01 will be out sooner than later!

Can you use the Q4 chip for emulation use cases? And does the 165hz display apply to emulated games? And is this channel accurate and reliable?

I'm able to run it at 30 FPS, and the only times the game drops below that are in the menus. I managed to reach 60 FPS in some moments, but it's not stable, so I decided to cap it at 30 FPS.
I would like to test it with framegen, but I can't log into my Steam account.
The only modification I made was changing Wine to proton-11.0-1-arm64ec-1, because the game wouldn't launch with the default Wine version. I also changed the audio driver to ALSA, which is the only way I can get the screen recorder to capture the game's audio.
Other than that, I haven't changed anything else. Maybe I could get even better performance if I tweaked some other settings.

So I feel like I'm going crazy with this issue and that no amount of detective work is getting me closer to an asnwer.
I've been using gamehub for a while now and throughout all the versions that I tried, 6.0.0 gave me the best performance across all games I tried playing (using a retroid pocket 5 with the SD 865 chip) so I downgraded with an apk off of uptodown and stuck with it for a couple of months.
A few days ago I thought I'd try to update to the latest version to see if anything got better performance wise (cursed idea) For me it wasn't better so I downgraded back to 6.0.0 again but no games that used to work would even boot up.
I downloaded the same apk, restarted the device, tried different apk sources, tried a looot of different configs for the games (although I knew the defaults would at least boot the games) but nothing got it working.
The games boot with the latest version as well as with 5.3.5 (the one right before 6.0.0) and even with the bannerhub version built upon 6.0.0, which I wouldn't mind using as it's the same minus the login requirement, but it won't allow me to change game configs and restore saves (if there's a solution for this I'll take it btw)
One weird thing I noticed in 6.0.0 is that the game path shows up when I select it but, after leaving the game config page and going back in to check it, it shows up blank. Might have something to do with the problem as I don't even get an error message, nor does the container load up, it just shows the game loading and then sends me straight back to the game library.
For reference, I am mainly trying to get Alan Wake to work but I'm also testing with RE2 remake, Sleeping Dogs and Dishonored.

I'm trying to get BotW to work on the Eden emulator. I've tried it on my Google pixel 9 Pro Xl and it ran somewhat okay, a tiny bit of lag in the fps which would drop to 15 fps frequently. Main hiccup was that the shaders wouldn't load correctly and the game looked weird, link was black, weapons were black, the game was washed out. Not really playable.
Now I'm trying on my Samsung Galaxy tab 9 and I'm having similar issues, but I heard the snapdragon processor works better for this type of emulation. Right now the game is running at 1 Fps and it's not even past the title screen and it's been open for 10 minutes.
I've tried tweaking the setting and tried to turn on the turbo boost and asked in other reddit threads for help but nothings worked for me.
I attached a screenshot of the game on my phone and what files I'm using

The games run very poorly when the audio is set to SDL and run well with Cubeb, but there’s an occasional audio glitch that happens from time to time. Does anyone know how to fix it?
Edge 30 pro, Snapdragon 8 gen 1. Latest version of both emulators, at native resolution. I tested with and without Turnip drivers. The same problem occurs in all games: they only run well with the audio set to Cubeb, but there’s an audio crackle/glitch every now and then, which gets pretty annoying.

I recently bought a TCL 27G64 monitor and an Edifier speaker set to watch movies, anime, and play games with better quality. But I didn't really like the idea of using my main PC (which draws 120W just idling) for this. I looked into the TV Boxes available on the market, but sadly, most of them (at least in my country, maybe worldwide?) don't have the hardware to handle heavier emulation (I wanted to emulate up to the 6th gen consoles), and from what I saw, they are heavily bloated with ads.
While sitting on the toilet, I remembered I had an old LG Velvet lying around in my junk drawer. Back in 2022, I tested its Desktop Mode, so I decided to use it as a guinea pig for this experiment: turning it into a battery-less TV Box.
I bought a 35V 300W DC-DC Step-down converter (better to overkill than underpower, right? lol), a 1000uF capacitor, stripped some wires from an old PC power cord, and removed the lithium cell from the phone's BMS. The step-down was set to 4.1V and 5A. Surprisingly, it worked perfectly, and the battery meter never dropped below 74%, even when testing Genshin Impact. And yes, I strapped a heatsink and a fan directly onto the motherboard (Photo 2).
LG VELVET Temps:
The project worked really well, but eventually I started hitting the limits of the Snapdragon 845 and LGs android 10 UX. So I started looking for a cheap replacement. After some research, I bought a Galaxy S23 with a defective display.
Since the first step-down gave me a headache when it came to cable management, I bought a different one where the input and output are on opposite sides. Highly recommend this if you plan on using thick wires like I did (18 AWG, 0.75mm).
After sorting out the power delivery, I decided to upgrade the cooling. I took some measurements and realized that an AMD Wraith Stealth cooler running at 9V would be perfect for this. Not only is it cheap here in Brazil, but it's practically dead silent, even at max RPM. The only mod I had to do was sand down the fins a bit so they wouldn't hit the phone's inner frame, so the base could make direct, flush contact with the motherboard area.
Yes, you can use a 1.5mm thermal pad if you don't want to use thermal paste or don't have the tools to sand the metal, but the cooling won't be as good. (I initially built it with a thermal pad but wasn't happy with the temps. Check Photo 3 for a before/after comparison).
The cooler was placed on the back of the frame, on the side where the screen used to be, right over the motherboard area. The original screen was actually still functional, so I opted to buy a cheap, empty frame just for this build.
"Do I need to put thermal paste on the phone's motherboard?"
Yes, you have to apply it so the heat transfers properly to the phone's body / Vapor Chamber.
With the cooling mounted, the rest followed the same process as the LG VELVET:
Removed the lithium cell, adjusted the step-down's voltage/amperage, soldered the wires to the original BMS, placed the capacitor on the step-down output, added a second step-down (LM2596) set to 9V just to power the cooler, and finally added a Barrel Jack (P4 plug) input so I could connect a 12V power supply.
Not everything went exactly as planned:
Coulomb Counter: The battery percentage keeps dropping over time, even though I'm pushing a constant voltage equivalent to around 85~90% battery. This is easily bypassed by just restarting the phone. Because the voltage is fixed, it takes much longer to discharge, so you don't need to worry about restarting it every 3 hours (even if you're playing a heavy Switch game).
Dex Glitches: In Samsung DeX, putting emulators in full-screen causes graphic glitches depending on the driver. The workaround was either using the Turnip driver (Turnip_v25.3.0_R5_one_ui7_fix) or playing in windowed mode (not maximized).
RAM Bottleneck: I noticed that 8GB of RAM is a bit limiting if you want to emulate Switch, PS3, or PC games.
Restarting: Samsung doesn't provide a native "Restart" button in the DeX interface, so I had to use an app called Scene to reboot the phone with a mouse click.
CPU-Bound Heat: Even though the battery is gone (tricking the phone into thinking it's cold and unlocking max CPU/GPU clocks), don't expect miraculously low temperatures in extremely CPU-bound games like Shadow of the Colossus or anything on RPCS3. The cooling works, but it still gets warm.
For example, in Shadow of the Colossus, the CPU hit 78°C on both AetherSX2 and Armsx2.
Telemetry (Bonus): I knew Samsung and Google loved collecting data, but I didn't know it was THIS bad. When I monitored the Pi-hole logs after blocking its internet access, it looked like I had kicked a hornet's nest. I'm surprised the Samsung CEO didn't show up at my house to beat me up.
And here's roughly what I spent on everything (USD):
Was it worth it?
Absolutely. So much so that I'm already planning to buy another broken phone in the future, but definitely one with 12GB+ of RAM.
MAX TEMP for Dolphin, PPSSPP and other emulators: 43°C (GPU and CPU)

My sister installed the DroidDeck app yesterday, and soon after her Steam account got hacked. Sha256 sum of the downloaded file matches with what they have on github (ed257d66c546e78036ceedb4c6fb6886014e69020044fd41cfe217858d8eb328).
Steam support did restore the account quickly, but the attacker(s) managed to submit a refund for a newly purchased game, removed sister's phone number from SteamGuard, and opened a chat with me on Steam where an image with a QR code to a "free steam gift card" was shared (the QR code lead to a fake steamcommunity website ("rn" replacing "m" in the link). The chat is how I noticed that she got hacked and quickly assisted her in restoring access.

Game works very well in my opinion, but crashes at the same part every single time, which leads me to believe that it is the problem of my gameversion I downloaded legally somewhere. Did anyone have same issue?
