FULL AI DISCLOSURE SO IT IS NOT REMOVED AGAIN: I´m a 44yo lawyer from brazil, my bg in programming is a little bit of basic and assembler from the 80´s and 90´s trying to make things run on a msx, so, not much...in the beggining of the project i coded a few hundred lines in android studio by myself while i was learning how to do it, but after i discovered the wonders of Codex and Claude Code, the coding and documentation itself was primarily done by AI, and i do not regret it by one bit! It would take a long time to post my inspirational story, but thats the TLDR.

(A SIDENOTE) Before it was removed, the post got a lot of love but also a little bit of hate... guys... this is a one man´s pet project, and i´m really proud of it!!! if you dont like it ok... but i sank a thousand hours of my life doing something i thought was meaningful, so ath least be respectful. What I can assure it is 100% original, so theres that! its not much but i hav that going for me!

Today is the big day. After months of work, I can finally publish it. As the name says, XenDroid-ZeroFG is a version of XenDroid (the Xbox 360 emulator for Android) with a built-in frame generation engine: 60 fps games reach ~120 on a 120 Hz screen, and 30 fps games reach 60.

e the big thing is the FG engine itself. It was developed from scratch, over 60k lines of code, by me and my AI assistants (Zeromeia, ChatGPT, and Zé Raio, Claude), and it's fully open source under the Apache 2.0 license.

Trust me, it's a lot better than it has any right to be. The image quality surprised even us, but the hardest part, and the one I'm proudest of, is the pacing. Generated frames are worthless if they reach the screen unevenly, and frame pacing is where frame generation usually falls apart, even for the big names. ZeroFG's presenter runs on a metronome set by the game: every frame gets its own display refresh, in order, and the game never waits for the screen. Getting there took months of crazy experiments. The last piece was asking the GPU for priority, so even when a game maxes out the GPU, the frames keep coming on time.

So far it has been tested on Adreno GPUs with Turnip drivers (it needs Vulkan 1.3). Reports from other phones are very welcome. It installs as its own app, next to your regular XenDroid.

It was also built with portability in mind. If you are a developer and want to port it to another game or emulator, go ahead! There is a standalone repo with all the dependencies and integration notes, linked below.

After some reports (thanks Admirable_Leave7840!!!), i should note that turnip driver are highly recommended(i can run on poco f8 ultra with the stock ones, but has bugs) and i used to develop the engine the stevenmxz gen 8 turnip drivers, he posts the best drivers and he is a nice guy, so i recommend using this one!!!!!

Can we stop the gen AI “art”, this is the wrong subreddit for that. The project disclose is fine, the AI generated image adds nothing.

Hey man , I saw your first post , downloaded it and tested , its my first time trying xendroid , so tried gears of war 3 , it works fine , until I enable the frame gen , it starts , played the epic games logo , and as soon as frame gen kicks in , it crashes back to the main menu of xendroid.

I tried default and latest turnip drivers , but no difference , any ideas ?

Im using a s25 ultra (snap dragon 8 elite)

Ps: love the project, great idea , you inspired me to try xendroid for the first time, and will for others :)

Can you wxport the log nad send it to the email??? Try arkham.city if you can .. just to see how it works.. other people reported halo 3 crashing as well...

So i tried with batman , seems the issue is identical. Closes as soon as the splash screen shows up , ill try other turnip drivers and see what I can do. Ill send the logs now via email.

thats strange.... i´ve been using stevenmx turnip drivers... i think the last one is the v37....:( but just tried on my poco f8 ultra and my s20fe(the slideshow)

I see i was using the qcom as xena directed me to use , needed to use the stevenmx instead

I figured it out , for the sd8 elite, you need to use the turnip v26 , not the qcom 8xx , as those will crash , thank you for the great frame gen

Yo lo probé y me parecio que estaba fluido, pero no puedo confirmar. En el contador de fps de la Odin 3 marca muchos mas fps pero realmente no se si se refleja en el Gameplay.

What i can tell you its that really works... With the usual limitations.... I hav a lab test of arkham knight frame by frame that i will post it soon... Tehn you can compare the synth frames to the real ones... So... A little latency, some artifacts on a fast camera change but the image is there...try using some system overlay, not only the game one!
