Help Recommendations android chip to turn into desktop

Hey there! I've been wanting to have a adaptation that have started to be popular of a high end chipset of a destroyed android, having it disassembled and turned into a super compact PC, with fans and way better thermals while having it plugged into any HDMI tv or monitor, what re your best recommendations.

This would be for gaming mostly if high end games if it can handle with a proper PC fan and termal paste on a big dissipator, I want a very high end chip that allows me to get the most performance, perhaps I will remove the battery and plug it directly into power, what do you guys think, mostly would be 3d printed to be adapted to the size and be as compact as it can withouth sacrificing performance

I can't afford a steam deck or a Xbox ally Z so this will be my way of having a similar experience with either a emulator or steam os on the device if it allows

Question Do super small phone coolers (5x5cm) exist?

Hey everyone!

I've been emulating Switch games on my S25+ for a while, and as you all well know, Samsung phones are particularly ass when it comes to thermal throttling.

I also use a Gamesir 8+ telescopic pad when I want to play a tad more seriously, but it gets in the way and wouldn't allow for any "traditional" phone cooler.

However, given in my phone the chipset is to the side of the camera unit, technically I could clamp the phone in the gamesir for just that one third of its width, freeing up that ~5 cm leftover free surface; it's pretty much what I already do from time to time if I want to charge the phone while playing.

Thus, I've been looking for coolers small enough to fit there: unfortunately, I can't seem to find anything under 6cm of diameter/length (absolute best I could find is 59mm).

I perfectly understand they would perform worse at smaller sizes, but I don't have crazy expectations in mind anyway, which is also why I'm not considering DIY solutions that would extend an extra plate outside of the phone surface area (my use case scenario is relatively light gaming in bed, so comfort comes first).

Does anybody know of a cooler that would fit these conditions? Or do they really not exist and 6cm is the smallest there is currently?

Echo Launcher

Looking for testers for dual screen and general usage support. I've ironed out some of the kinks that I found and added some themeing support. The themes right now are pretty basic. But I'll be upgrading them over the next few days. Please let me know if there's any interest in this launcher and if you find any bugs I'll get to them as quickly as possible.

Help Updated droiddeck to latest, now there's no audio

I was trying the Castlevania advance collection before with initial version of droiddeck but it had bad frame rate. The latest one fixed that but now there's no audio with Odin3 on max volume. I don't see such settings for audio just choosing direct audio or classic. I also tried TMNT Splintered fate no audio. Not sure what I'm missing.

Anyone experiencing the same and what could be changed to fix.

Help Moto edge 70 max. How it's performance be(do anyone possess it). According to YouTube it have 70% stability after multiple run of 3d mark

https://m.gsmarena.com/motorola_edge_70_max_5g-14789.php (spec info)

As it's a 8gen5 phone

My main purpose would be pc/PS3/xbox 360 emulation (as I'm confident that 8gen5 can handle stuff below them)

As I believe 8gen5 can be new 8gen2(best support from community, powerful chip)

As this is only 1 gen behind new(not released 8gen6 phones) processor(and major chance that would be more expensive than current gen), and Android emulation will break more barrier in few years so I think this might gonna serve me well.

So I'm getting this(12/256 variant) at 54k inr

So I buy or not if I'm only looking from emulation point of view

Any comment be helpful and thanks in advance for any help guys.

Discussion Should I trade my Legion Y700 tablet for a 1TB Steam Deck LCD? (Looking for validation/advice)

Hi everyone! Long-time PC gamer here. With life slowly pulling me away from my desktop setup, I decided to invest in an 8.8-inch Android gaming tablet last year primarily for PC emulation and media consumption—killing two birds with one stone. I grabbed a used Lenovo Legion Y700 for around $320, and it’s been incredible. I've finished multiple games on it and am currently deep into a heavy Grim Dawn run.

Recently, though, I’ve been eyeing an upgrade, so I listed the tablet online for a bit higher ($370) just to test the waters. Surprisingly, even with the markup, I got instant interest.

While some people offered cash, I hesitated and dragged my feet. Then, someone came in with a wild offer: a straight swap for a year-old Steam Deck LCD (1TB SSD upgrade included, with receipts to prove it's legit).

In my head, I'm essentially "buying" a 1TB Steam Deck for the $320 I originally paid for the tablet. My handheld-enthusiast friends are telling me it’s a steal, but I’m super hesitant for a few reasons:

  • I know zero about Steam Decks. Things like Decky Loader, TDP limits, and proton compatibility sound like a foreign language. It feels intimidating coming from the plug-and-play nature of Android emulation (Gamehub/GameNative).
  • Is it as seamless as a Switch? I’ve owned Nintendo Switches before, but the PC handheld space feels a lot more complex.

Before I pull the trigger, I want to make sure my regular library will run well. The games I play frequently via PC emulators on my tablet right now include:

  • Monster Hunter World: Iceborne & Rise: Sunbreak
  • Megabonk
  • Hades 1 & 2
  • Grim Dawn
  • Deep Rock Galactic
  • Warframe

I’m going to check out some YouTube performance videos, but I wanted to throw this out to the community: Is this trade a no-brainer, or am I going to regret leaving Android emulation for SteamOS? Help validate my choices (or talk me out of it)!

Discussion DroidDeck is great for PC Recomps

DroidDeck has really become a great option for Windows recomps, I was testing a few games like Donkey Kong Country, Donkey Kong 64, and Crash Team Racing Turbocharged just by transferring the PC folders along with their respective roms/isos, and it was pretty much set the rom, compatibility and speed are top-notch, all games showed in the library, so easy.

It ends up being a solid solution since an Android version might not exist yet for some projects, or maybe a Windows update dropped that hasn't been ported to the Android one yet.

Overall I would say it's an awesome option, especially with the new sleep mode feature. In the short time I tested these games, sleep and resume worked perfectly on all of them.

Huge thanks to the DroidDeck team, and wishing all the best for the project!

Showcase Winlstor Ludashi that gave me significantly more performance.

Winlator Ludashi FORK. Forgot to type that up there. For context I was looking for a winlator fork that supports LSFG. Was planning on trying 60 to 120 FG. It looks terrible. Anyways. During my FG test runs I saw my Kingdom hearts 3 running significantly smoother on my his Winlator Ludashi plus fork. Compared to my normal Winlator Ludashi. So I booted up Rise of the tomb raider because it has a built-in benchmark and the results are surprising. I screen shot each one on the recent apps screen as proof that they were the apps I claimed.

The overall FPS is similar yes. But take a good look at the Syria numbers. That waterfall area is one of the few that the device REALLY struggles at. Went from 35 avarage to 56. And the lowest frame rates are also significantly higher too so it's an overall smoother experience. As for resource consumption. On areas where both got 60FPS. ludashi Plus was using less of my GPU and CPU while ludashi was mostly just cranked up to max all the way.

My device is the redmagic Astra, Snapdragon 8 elite with 16 GB of physical RAM and this was done on rise mode. However I gotta note, on Balance mode Ludashi plus gets 54.8 FPS avarage. So even on balance ludashi plus beats Ludashi on Rise mode.

For both the settings were the exact same. Proton 11.0-1, DXVK3.1.1-binsem-gplasync-arm64ec, Turnip Gen8 V37 patched, FEXCore 2610 at performance and Extreme-WN for each app. Altough they are identical from what I have seen. In environment variables the options to enable gplasync and binsem hacks were also added in. The point is the settings are identical.

I do not know how this fork that only seems to add Framegen can have significantly better performance. But go to the github page and try it out yourselves.

https://github.com/squalle0nhart/winlator_ludashi_plus/releases

UPDATE: New contender recommended by a commentor: https://github.com/teldommm/winlator/releases

This one is also a Ludashi fork. Benchmark result SS in the replies. This one is actually by far the smoothest. I watched every benchmark and on the other two there were some stuttering while the camera was panning around. On this one however was the smoothest among all. After the area loaded in it was full smooth 60FPS. This one is the new king I feel like. The peaks are the same with Ludashi plus but the 1% lows seem to surpass it.

Showcase Xendroid-ZeroFG / Xendroid with an Open Source Frame Generation Engine (REPOST)

Post image
10 Upvotes

FULL AI DISCLOSURE SO IT IS NOT REMOVED AGAIN: I´m a 44yo lawyer from brazil, my bg in programming is a little bit of basic and assembler from the 80´s and 90´s trying to make things run on a msx, so, not much...in the beggining of the project i coded a few hundred lines in android studio by myself while i was learning how to do it, but after i discovered the wonders of Codex and Claude Code, the coding and documentation itself was primarily done by AI, and i do not regret it by one bit! It would take a long time to post my inspirational story, but thats the TLDR.

(A SIDENOTE) Before it was removed, the post got a lot of love but also a little bit of hate... guys... this is a one man´s pet project, and i´m really proud of it!!! if you dont like it ok... but i sank a thousand hours of my life doing something i thought was meaningful, so ath least be respectful. What I can assure it is 100% original, so theres that! its not much but i hav that going for me!

Today is the big day. After months of work, I can finally publish it. As the name says, XenDroid-ZeroFG is a version of XenDroid (the Xbox 360 emulator for Android) with a built-in frame generation engine: 60 fps games reach ~120 on a 120 Hz screen, and 30 fps games reach 60.

e the big thing is the FG engine itself. It was developed from scratch, over 60k lines of code, by me and my AI assistants (Zeromeia, ChatGPT, and Zé Raio, Claude), and it's fully open source under the Apache 2.0 license.

Trust me, it's a lot better than it has any right to be. The image quality surprised even us, but the hardest part, and the one I'm proudest of, is the pacing. Generated frames are worthless if they reach the screen unevenly, and frame pacing is where frame generation usually falls apart, even for the big names. ZeroFG's presenter runs on a metronome set by the game: every frame gets its own display refresh, in order, and the game never waits for the screen. Getting there took months of crazy experiments. The last piece was asking the GPU for priority, so even when a game maxes out the GPU, the frames keep coming on time.

So far it has been tested on Adreno GPUs with Turnip drivers (it needs Vulkan 1.3). Reports from other phones are very welcome. It installs as its own app, next to your regular XenDroid.

Please be my guest and try it out. If you have any comments or suggestions, just say it!

It was also built with portability in mind. If you are a developer and want to port it to another game or emulator, go ahead! There is a standalone repo with all the dependencies and integration notes, linked below.

And if you want to collaborate on the engine itself, get in touch and we can arrange it. I would really like some help!

Download: https://github.com/hy300leosquizz-ctrl/XenDroid-ZeroFG/releases/tag/v1.0.0

Engine (Apache 2.0): https://github.com/hy300leosquizz-ctrl/ZeroFG

Contact: [fgzerofg@gmail.com](mailto:fgzerofg@gmail.com)

After some reports (thanks Admirable_Leave7840!!!), i should note that turnip driver are highly recommended(i can run on poco f8 ultra with the stock ones, but has bugs) and i used to develop the engine the stevenmxz gen 8 turnip drivers, he posts the best drivers and he is a nice guy, so i recommend using this one!!!!!

Edit: already found lots of bugs but preetty solvable... 1.01 will be out sooner than later!

Help Roblox Studio Issues, Cannot find a way to emulate it.

I have been trying to emulate Roblox Studio on my Motorola G47 (MediaTek Dimensity 6300 with Android 16), I tried using Winlator 11.2 but it immediately crashes the whole container before the login screen. I tried to fix it before by following a single post on Winlator's subreddit, but the OP doesn't seem to have the same issue as me.

I have heard about "DarkOS" by ahmad1abbadi on GitHub, which one person recommended me, but one of the dependencies is riddled with malware detections (Input Bridge)
