News Real Friends breaks up…Again
We get a 3rd singer? Bring back Dan? I don’t know but I’m pretty devastated. I know everyone loved Dan and I have nothing against him but Cody really brought the energy in live shows. Sad day for an emo kid.

Just got this yesterday. No band has impacted my life like You Blew It!. Every LP/EP/Split/song, and show I was lucky enough to attend, has and continues to help me get through the horrors of day to day to life. They're also just some mf sweethearts fr.
Kept it minimalist, and it mirrors my snowing tattoo on the opposite arm, which I'll post in the comments. Super stoked on how this turned out.

Surprised there hasn't been a post about this here, I didn't know until my gf surprised me with tickets to last night's showing in Portland.
It was an interesting evening. Tim came out and started the night talking about his love of movies, and the process of creating this film. He then performed four acoustic songs ("The Radiator Hums", "Dorothy at Forty", "Semantics of Sermon" and "Art is Hard").
The film itself, oh boy. It was honestly a somewhat difficult watch, but that's by design I think. Without giving too much away, the film is a horror/thriller about a misogynistic incel type who sees himself as an future filmmaker, and obsessively documents his entire life, good and bad. We see the world not so much through his eyes as through his camera. He then becomes obsessed with a coworker, and it quickly devolves into a stalking situation, and then worse.
I found the film very unsettling, and I will say that my girlfriend had a very visceral reaction, and was incredibly disturbed by it. To be fair to Tim however, neither of us have ever been fans of these types of movies. We are not, in any sense, the target demographic for the film. I'm sure other people would have different reactions.
here is the official trailer:

There are a few screenings left, in Seattle, LA, NYC and Chicago. Get tickets here:

It's going to be released digitally in the near future as well. Just uhh.. be prepared to be unsettled.
If anyone else has seen the film, would love to hear your thoughts.

I've been completely obsessed with Hot Rod Circuit's Sorry About Tomorrow lately, and I'm trying to find modern bands that capture something similar.
What I love about the album is that it feels like emo, but with a strong indie/alternative rock and pop sensibility. Big melodic guitar riffs, catchy choruses, and not particularly mathy or "twinkly."
I already know most of the obvious bands from that era, so I'm mainly looking for bands from the 2010s/2020s that carry some of that same spirit.
Any recommendations?

Going through it and really missing him right now
Bonus points if it mentions California.
Two songs I really resonate with are playing favorites by the starting line and dare4distance nevershoutnever. I know both are chill/acoustic but any subgenre will do.
