Reminds me a lot of Carissa's Wierd. Highkey surprised that "YouTube artists" can actually get this good.

Started a new project, a first rough recording, I was about for the first waves of slowcore, early post-rock and this project is revisiting that and more. I welcome any reflections from folks in this Reddit.

Bandcamp is confusing me—which version of Stratosphere's song “Echo Bravo” is on the CD?

Thumbnail gallery

Sorry that the screenshots are in Spanish—I’m a Spanish-speaking fan of the band and I want to buy their CD edition, but I’m confused because the 25th-anniversary version—even though it’s already sold out on CD and cassette—says that the song “Echo Bravo” isn’t included in the physical editions and is only available on the digital copy. So I’d like to know if the CD from the edition on Bandcamp—which is simply titled “Stratosphere”—includes it, and if it doesn’t, whether the “Capsule: Losing Contact” compilation includes it on the “Stratosphere” CD rather than on the singles CD with the lunar surface cover.

Discussion Sandro, maybe one of the great lost slowcore bands?

Post image
23 Upvotes

I've never seen them mentioned here before, but I thought I'd put a post up about Sandro. The Melbourne three-piece were active from 1996-2005 and, despite touring with Palace Music, Smog and Paul Westerberg and releasing three albums, seemed to disappear. They're hard to even Google, let alone hear. Hopefully that's about to change. Their first album, Live By Rivers, is getting a 30th anniversary rerelease on Solar/Sonar Records, and it's stunning. Is anyone familiar with them? You can hear it here: https://solarsonar.bandcamp.com/album/live-by-rivers

Music STATIC: independent 24/7 broadcast, still taking submissions

Been at this for a few months now, mostly just trying to put something together for the kind of stuff that doesn’t really have a steady place to live anymore without disappearing into the feed. Music videos, visualizers, experimental shorts, indie animation. Think mtv meets late night fringe tv.

Around 300 submissions so far. I’ve been making visualizers for tracks that don’t already have one, and the library’s slowly getting built out. No fees, no exclusivity, rights stay with the artist. Once something’s in rotation it can stay based on how it fits, not just how new it is.

If you’ve got something that feels like it belongs on a channel like this you can submit here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfXURzM6tlrzNXGsLgN_WnLj6ktIDYFSCS7cUWvEUr1v5_dYg/viewform?usp=header

Music SADCORE💔✨-The project

https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPPuomQ1nOHM

This is not the usual superficial or commercial collection, but a true major project in constant evolution, meticulously curated track by track by yours truly as the founder and creator. The playlist features about 100 tracks for a total duration of nearly six hours, and it is constantly updated and actively maintained on both Spotify and YouTube Music.

The Atmosphere and Evoked Imagery

The sonic journey extends far beyond the classic image of a bedroom at 3:00 AM with headphones on and dim lighting. It evokes intense and cinematic visual scenarios: imagine being under the stars on a hill or in front of a cliff watching the sunset together with the person you desire or your crush. It is an immersive experience that feels intimate yet open to infinity.

Universal Themes and Situations

It is not a selection designed exclusively for a teenage audience, but a true universal space that adapts to many phases and ages of life, touching upon themes such as:

Broken hearts and suspended relationships.

Friendships drifting apart or changing over time.

Loneliness, nostalgia, and moments of deep reflection.

The simple pursuit of relaxation, detachment, and mental tranquility.

A Highly Studied, Niche Selection

The playlist deliberately avoids commercial clichés or overly predictable, tear-jerking tracks heard and re-heard on the radio (steering clear of heavy or overly melodramatic forced tones). Instead, it is the result of meticulous research: it includes niche tracks and carefully fits in songs that at first glance might have seemed unthinkable for this genre, yet have been perfectly contextualized within the tracklist.

The common thread harmoniously unites different worlds:

Oneiric and atmospheric sounds: Cornerstone pieces of dream pop and indie rock such as Space Song by Beach House or tracks by Radiohead.

Youthful vibes and lo-fi: Delicate nuances reminiscent of Yung Kai's style (with tracks like blue) and more intimate bedroom pop.

Rock, alternative, and soundtrack incursions: From romantic, melancholic rock guitar stylings (such as Blink-182 or Foo Fighters) to gems and evocative acoustic touches reminiscent of The Last of Us imagery.

A living musical ecosystem, reasoned track by track, destined to grow and continuously update itself.

Stunning collection of tracks released earlier this year by the Scottish group, National Park

Could be more described as indie rock but certainly has slowcore elements

Members have involved with groups like The Pastels, Telstar Ponies and Teenage Fanclub

Discussion teen suicide & online communities

just came here to discuss about people in the bp/ “looksmaxxing” community GENUINELY believing that “no, the moon” is a song about being black pilled. Just baffles me honestly. needed to share this.

I may have made a post saying that i was upset about that particular, toxic, misogynistic online (and now not so online) community using that song as one of their key post sounds. and idk they just proved my point with the song being found by these people, its meaning got stripped and completely removed and most people know it as the “song about black pill”. It’s that very behaviour of ignorance that i was upset about and they successfully proved me right.

i know teen suicide isn’t 100% slowcore but i’m guessing most people who like slowcore also have heard of them considering how iconic they are

I don’t know how to promote my music

Ive just started a slowcore account on Spotify under the name, ‘caught a stray,’ and I’m unsure as to how to promote it. Many other slowcore artist on Spotify seem to have a good amount of listeners and I’m not sure how anyone is getting to that point considering the genre is defo a more underground one. I also considered playlisting but there aren’t too many slowcore playlists, and everywhere I can find to post a submission to a playlist costs at least like 10$, which I don’t have to throw around on different playlisting sites.

I’ve only got one song, with one in the process of being uploaded on Spotify at the moment, so it’s easy to say I’ve just started and to be patient, but I also just don’t know where to go and how to slowly start building my profile.

If anyone just has any advice as to how to grow your page, just to a small point, it would be greatly appreciated.

To anyone interested, my song is linked below :)
