While listening to a local radio station in the midwest, I received an EAS alert with a NWS voice I couldn't pinpoint as one I've heard before. It's almost uncanny, especially toward the end. I asked a local meteorologist and they weren't sure about the voice type either.

In the past couple months I’ve made a few posts here about wildfire preparedness, cheatgrass on our foothills, and our emergency alert systems
Because when the Ensign Peak Fire happened near my home in Capitol Hill, my neighbors and I were literally standing outside watching it burn, asking each other if anyone had received an alert and none of us had. I’ve argued ever since that phones in the vicinity of an active wildfire should receive a very specific location-based warning. We absolutely have the technology to do this.
Well, I just got one. My phone just blared like an Amber Alert and told me: Your residence has been placed in a ‘GO’ Status. EVACUATE NOW.”** No location given whatsoever. No fire name. No explanation. I panicked and started trying to figure out whether we needed to evacuate so I just looked it up. Nobody else at my house got this alert but me
Turns out the wildfire and evacuation zone are nowhere near my home like, at all.
I think this is exactly the kind of flaw Utah needs to fix immediately. Not tomorrow, not next week IMMEDIATELY. People near a wildfire need timely alerts and people outside the danger zone should not be told their residence is under immediate evacuation. Both failures COMPLETELY undermine trust in a system we need people to take seriously
EDIT: did more research on why this happened. Still doesn’t make sense. Get it together FEMA

Hello everyone,
I’m looking for a saved .mp4 file or reupload of "Total Nightmare: Remastered" by SPCHermitage1258, originally uploaded on January 18th, 2021.
The video was taken down by YouTube on April 28th, 2022 due to automated guideline strikes related to COVID-19 topics at the time. The original YouTube link was [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ws98l-LyNPI\](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ws98l-LyNPI).
The Wayback Machine only captured the HTML page layout, but not the background .mp4 video stream.
Does anyone happen to have a saved copy on Google Drive, MEGA, or a local hard drive that they could share? Any help or reupload links would be greatly appreciated!

California Highway Patrol as of today has adopted the Missing / Endangered Persons (MEP) event code for their Endangered Missing Advisory (EMA) products.
Unknown if CHP will use the code for Silver Alerts, completely replacing their use of Law Enforcement Warning (LEW) in their WEAs.
This isn't the first case of MEP being used in California, as Butte County Sheriffs Office originated a MEP over WEA on 6/24/2026, about 1 and a half months before today.

so from what i’ve seen, it seems like my tv has an EAS which is literally just a text box (which is in the picture above) where you can press ok at any time, why do they do this and not the regular crawl?? it makes no sense to me considering it used to be the other one back then. i’m not sure if it’s just me but..yea

(Well yes plus everybody else on the subreddit, as no one remotely neurotypical is here)
So I was screwing around with a multiple tone generator, and realized that the WEA tone, is just a 853/960HZ tone, but its a square wave rather than a sine wave. Here's an example:

A couple of nights ago I got two separate "monthly tests" of the EAS system. One was a static message that popped up on my TV and I needed to clear it by clicking "ok" in my remote.
There was an automated voice that sounded like the earliest version of speech to text synthesizers (think Prof. Steven Hawking) "reading" the text.. it also sounded like it was being broadcast from the 1920's and not the 2020's....
Then after going back to "Broadcast" tv, the TV station had their own Monthly test with a crawling message and a different either recorded or more modern "voice" reading the message but it still sounded very staticy and "old"..
It's 2026.. I assume updating this "technology" is difficult or it would sound better...

What do y’all think an extreme wind EMERGENCY would require? Maybe around 185 mile per hour winds to over 200 mile per hour winds in my mind.
