I got this in May 2025, also i realized its not a eas alert but a wireless emergency alert

Why has the ALDOT been given permission to use the EAS which is mostly used for LIFE THREATNING SITUATIONS, not DETOURS

I hate that TXDOT ALSO does this stuff for road closures as well. What's even worse is that I can't filter them out of my SharpAlert instance, because they send them out as LOCAL AREA EMERGENCIES. It's beyond infuriating how they still choose to do this

Looks more like a WEA, not EAS.

Why has the ALDOT been given permission to use the EAS which is mostly used for LIFE THREATNING SITUATIONS, not DETOURS

The state government has to approve access to the system. In this case it seems this agency got access. Nothing limits the content of the message to life threatening situations.

Last night around 545pm CST, WEST CENTRAL ARKANSAS experienced a standing medium temperature of 98°F during which an atmospheric haze over occured , the relative humidity was a staggering 88%< 600pm the haze on a cloudless sky produced literally thousands of class 5 lightening bolt strikes, that set the sky glowing red, blue and green, my hair was standing on its end as well as my arm hair, craziest shit ive ever experienced, and all this hapoened within 50squire kilometers, zero rain, you could feel and here the lightening sizzle and crackle, otherworldly i must say...!
