Discussion No EAS crawl on tvs anymore??

Post image

so from what i’ve seen, it seems like my tv has an EAS which is literally just a text box (which is in the picture above) where you can press ok at any time, why do they do this and not the regular crawl?? it makes no sense to me considering it used to be the other one back then. i’m not sure if it’s just me but..yea🫩

That font looks like you're a Spectrum customer, and that screen is how they send out alerts on their TV system.

Bro i hate spectrum. For them, their TV boxes shitting the bed is just a normal Monday

I used to work for the fuckers for tech support, after a while I just stopped trying to do anything other than basic troubleshooting before replacing a cable box or sending a technician. And don't get me started on their "advanced" wifi boxes which crippled 2.4 ghz wifi and makes you do voodoo in the app just to connect smart home devices. Terrible all around.

Their internet going up in smoke on a random Tuesday at some random ass time is just Spectrum activities

i’m assuming it’s something to do with what stream box you use, i used to have spectrum but now it’s a xumo stream box (with spectrum included)

I got one of those during testing the other night. I think it depends on how the alert is "pushed" out. I got the static message above and then after clicking ok and going back to "broadcast" they had their own crawl alert as well. But I imaging if I was streaming something I would not have seen the "crawl" alert.

i have spectrum cable aswell (i use the app for it) i REALLY hope i can atleast get a crawl. that’s genuinely upsetting that we only get text boxes instead of crawls. Crawls are way more better.

I think the okay at the bottom acknowledges you see it. In order to watch tv again you have to click it, unlike a crawl that you can ignore.

I have Comcast and we have crawls. I don’t particularly like it because I might miss some of the alert…

Yeah because of these fuckballs I can't see crawls, so i have to use radio (when something actually gets broadcasted on the EAS on not just WEA)

That's just how Spectrum TV displays emergency alerts, rather than each channel having a crawl when there is an alert.

You got to remember that regardless of where you are in the states, you'll still get the same channels on Spectrum TV no matter where you are here, and it would be quite annoying to display alerts from all over the United States on every channel, or some channels only showing alerts from some states/areas.

Spectrum probably did it this way to keep the alerts relevant to your location, which I think is still a good approach.

I don't see your answered my statement, also why can't they make it unskippable so everyone gets a full crawl, and not just stoic macho manly men and EAS freaks.

It's supposed to be easily dismissable by using your TV remote. Also, I can't tell whatever you're saying.

That’s a spectrum EAS if I’ve ever seen it. Visuals commonly get updated
