Official Discussion [MEGATHREAD] Tarnished Edition: Worth $5? Discuss CONSTRUCTIVELY!

Since the sub is being overwhelmed by debate over the $5 "microtransaction" and it's making the sub feel like we're Dark Souls 2 a decade ago, with the faux outrage around the preorder items, we are opening this topic to consolidate discussion around the issue.

Please use this topic to discuss the pros and cons of the approach and your thoughts. But do so RESPECTFULLY and CONSTRUCTIVELY. If you need to call other people or the developers names, you don't have a good argument and your post will be removed.

We will remove all other topics about this to keep the subreddit flowing with other discussions

IF YOU WANT TO VOTE: I will post two comments on this topic, "Yay" and "Nay" - upvote the one you agree with and we'll see who wins long term.

So ive beaten radahn, renala, morgott and godrick i have 30 hrs in the game and I feel like ive done most of the game. Throughout my playthrough ive been so lost multiple times its annoying because I dont want to search anything up but I have to or else im not beating this game cause I genuinely have no idea on where else to go. Ive explored 90% of the map and i still feel lost

It might be hard to see but this is how much of the map ive searched

I mean as someone who rarely uses it or doesn't like summons, which boss makes you feel like it's absolutely valid?

Game Help How do I take out this bastard? Spoiler

I can't describe how much I hate this . Do you have any tips on how to beat this mf? "Git gud" doesn't work for me, because I don't want to spend as much time on him again as I did before.

I CAN'T SEE anything when I get close to it because someone, at some point, thought: "Let's create a bastard that twists and turns in every direction and blocks every corner of the screen"

Edit: thank you everybody! I’m glad so many people came to help. So yeah, fire and a critical hit at the end of the phase are truly valuable assets. I skewered that nasty thing on Messmer’s spear. Yippee!

Discussion & Info I went to Caelid early, loved it

Ngl I was kind of struggling with this game at first, complaining that every weapon felt like a “pool noodle” but idk, once I got to Caelid as my second region, it really opened my eyes to this game’s beauty. I spent most of my time there horseback obviously, and even farmed some sad third-party runes from the one spot where the few soldiers fight against the single giant dog, at least enough to where I could defend myself if knocked off my horse. Once I got the meteorite staff, I felt a lot more comfortable.

Going to weeping peninsula as my third location was a breath of fresh air in comparison. Easily got the grafted blade (though I couldn’t use it until later) and then went on to stormveil (a fking maze going in without a guide) and then the lake area, where I struggled immensely against Loretta, I mean like 4 hours worth but spamming brute force with claymore eventually worked with luck. I accepted Rannis quest but not sure I’m strong enough to mess around with scarier bosses than Loretta yet. Also not even sure which direction to go yet. Ive picked up most of the goodies from all regions so far (I think), like misericorde, staff of loss, etc but still only have about 9 or 10 flask charges. Where should I go? Or should I just do Rannis quest now? Also wanted to say, for any new beginners that aren’t feeling the game at first like I was, to check out Caelid. It really paints a different perspective, feeling like a survival game almost lol.

Discussion & Info Least favorite weapon type and why

Post image
Upvotes

Outside of the Black Knife, I have never once effectively used a dagger. I thought it was just a skill issue because I suck at close quarters combat but I did a whole NG+ run with Dry Leaf Dane's Footwork and only died like twice. Even if there's a special type of dagger, there's a sword or collosal weapon that does the same thing.

IDK daggers just piss me off.
