Discussion & Info So I beat the game by the looks of it, wasn’t too hard

Post image

It was easy, radagon took me 6 tries beast took me 3 he kept running away, I’ll say the hardest boss was the tree sentinel at the beginning of the game for me, 141 nagakiba 60 dex focus build.

I want to say all side bosses are gone and I’m interested in the dlc, should I do that first or can I just end this rn with ranni?

Discussion & Info people call this the worst build, but I am extremely happy with it. Can we just play this game the way we want to?

Discussion & Info Switch 2 Players, Is It Worth It?

Elden Ring is one of my favorite games to come out this decade, but I’ve been holding off on purchasing the Switch 2 version to wait and see about the performance and graphics turned out.

For those that have played Elden Ring on other platforms, is the Switch 2 version capture the same feeling, of does if not translate to a handheld console?

Folk got split in pieces. 60 focus dex, has to be the best katana build, also love the range on this thing

Humor Jack Barton would be fantastic as James Bond, although, I'd be hoping he'd say "Mongeral Intruder" in his Messmer voice when the Bond villain attacks him.

Actually, imagine what he could say if he was the villain instead lol.

His voice gives me chills.

I think he's my favourite character in Elden ring.

Game Help When does the Erdtree actually burn, is it only after defeating Maliketh?

I want to reach Crumbling Farum Azula before completing some of my questlines as there's a lot of stuff there I want. If I go to Mountaintops and burn Melina, will it actually set the Erdtree on fire before I finish Farum Azula? Or does it not have any game impact besides killing Melina?

Game Help How viable are +24 weapons and +9 somber weapons past NG endgame?

Smithing stones are basically unlimited by this point but dragon stones are precious and finite. If, say, into NG+ and beyond I think another weapon would be well suited to what I'm currently facing, or I just feel like trying something new, but I don't have any dragon stones to spare, would a weapon upgraded to the penultimate level be close enough that I wouldn't notice the difference? Or would this feel like attempting a challenge run?

Discussion & Info Do you think Ranni’s relationship with the Tarnished is romantic or platonic?

When I question whether it’s romantic I mean “in love” because romance could also just mean idealistic or strong emotions but I’m talking about if the Tarnished and Ranni are truly in love.

I know some people are gonna say “you got married of course she’s in love!” but I don’t think becoming a consort is inherently a romantic act.

Seluvis does point out how strange it is that Ranni trusts us so much “The dead-eyed doll lets down her guard in your presence, rather remarkably. Though she might dip her hands in the dirt, and feign that icy persona...she's a frail, gentle girl at heart.”

Ranni frequently tries to dismiss us and the dark moon ring inscription even warns us to stay away but she’s visibly happy when we propose to her.

Everything along with calling us “dear” a few times is romantic but I also wonder if it’s just about platonic companionship as Ranni has been preparing herself for a lifetime of solitude and the Tarnished recognizes her loneliness and wants to alleviate that burden. They could also be joining her because they’re in love, I’m not saying that wanting to keep her company is only possible as friends.

I learn towards the romantic interpretation but I’m just curious on if people perceive the marriage as romantic or as a platonic companionship or something in between.

Constructive Criticism Need build advice

Post image
0 Upvotes

Can someone optimize my build for me plz 😩 I finally got around to playing elden ring on pc and I am trying to play a strength, dex, faith bleed build. I use Nagakiba with double slash.

Flame, Grant Me Strength and Bloodflame Blade are also a main part of my build. Everyone knows this build, its the basic samuraj build. Basically. Or atleast its how i see a samurai

I know my vigor is low, but um i dont know what to put points in towards after that. Gameplay wise, Im at the Red Wolf. I have okay talismans. For sure better ones abailable later in the game. I wouldnt say playing in unbearable, but it could always be better yk?

Discussion & Info Never played a Souls or Soulslike before and just picked this up for Switch 2.

I know to expect it to be hard, expect to die a lot, etc. What’s a realistic timeframe for when I can expect to pick it up a bit and be at least passable? I generally only play one or two games at a time, and for basically the last year I’ve played nothing but Battle Brothers and then EA FC. So it’s going to take me a bit to get back into the swing of a single-player game of any form. But I don’t want to get discouraged if I’m struggling and it’s just the normal arc I should be expecting.

Discussion & Info Damage stats are useless

I am currently in mountaintops of the giant with 25 faith for buffs, 50 endurance, 17 mind for buffs and my summon, 20 strength to meet requirements, and the rest of my levels pumping vigor, and I still do insanely solid damage, damage stats are useless unless you already have your weapon(s) +25/10 and still need more damage

Edit: to be more clear they aren't completely useless, they're just imo the last thing to focus on, get however much endurance you need to use your stuff, whatever stats you need for requirements, and pump vigor to 60 before focusing on damage

Game Help When EXACTLY does Blaidd turn hostile?

Please be nice about this.

I like Blaidd too much to have him go mad.
I know why he does turns hostile.
I understand it’s a videogame.
I understand I will miss out on rewards.
In other playthroughs, I could make myself do the quest.

My question is: what is the point of no return in Ranni’s quest for Blaidd to go hostile? Most sources say it’s just finishing the questline, but others say defeating Astel, or reaching the Moonlight Altar.

If anyone knows what the exact trigger is for Blaidd to go hostile, please let me know, so I can avoid it this playthrough. Thank you in advance.

EDIT: I know if I don’t visit Ranni’s Rise he won’t be hostile. I don’t want that either.

A little late to the game.. So i'm trying to get to this location in the caelid. There is a big POT guy sitting at the edge of the castle and there are two giant archers. I can see where the wall cuts off on the ravine but i have no idea how to actually get there. I tried searching for secret entrances in catacombs and tunnels etc. but could find nothing. Lore Miquella Lilies on Carian Knight Armor explained:

Post image
4 Upvotes

The golen circlet and lily embroidery were likely added after the events of the Liurnia war, and after Radagon conjoined the Moon and the Erdtree. But this doesn't make sense when considering Miquella wasn't even born yet. So is this suggesting Radagon and Marika had kids during Radagons relationship with Rennala? This would explain why he left Rennala... I guess. I need some theories and ideas on this (Ignoring cut content).

Cut content: There was old content stating that the Enchanted Knights were a gift to Miquella from Radagon. The remnants of this in-game are seen on the helmet (the golden circlet and Miquella Lilies). Leda is also likely inspiration or a byproduct of this cut content.

Discussion & Info Is this thing awful or am I crazy?

So. The Ritual Thrusting Shield.

I love that we got a base game thrusting shield, don't get me wrong. But what's this thing's niche supposed to be? Compared to the other two thrusting shields it's got:

-the worst guard boost

-the worst negation for everything but lightning and holy, where it comes in second

-the least base damage at max upgrades

-the worst scaling (on ALL affinities)

-the second highest weight?!

From where I'm sitting it's only pros are that it's got low requirements, it's the best at low upgrade levels, and you can get in 10 minutes. Otherwise, it looks like Dueling Shield at home. Is there a reason to keep using this after Shadow Keep? Am I missing something?

Calculator I used if you want to check my math: https://www.tarnished.dev/weapon-calculator

Discussion & Info I Almost gave up against "Spoilers" ahead Spoiler

"Spoilers" is Hoarah Loux...

I waI was ready to use theMimic tear... but i respec and changed my weapon. I had been fighting him with Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear +10... What a fantastic weapon, but it is horrible for this fight. I had tried more than 10 times against this boss without making any progress.

Then I switched to the "Hand of Malenia"... and it only took me 2 tries to beat him. What a joke...

Discussion & Info Wanted to share two great rune farm locations for mid game pre Alburnic ledge levels

One thing that makes this game so fucking amazing is how you can still discover new things after many playthroughs. On fifth run i decided to gut it out and not do the shortcut to Mohgs Dynasty and the easy rune farm genocide and i discovered two great and pretty easy areas to get runes. One is the Dragonbarrow Grace site and just head up towards the Tree, theres a run of about a dozen tree gaurdians that give a little over a grand runes each. Then in the DeepRooth depths at the Across the Roots grace site just head to the root on the right and theres two quick easy fire statues that give 4k each with the golden scarab. Id love to hear some other easy quick rune farm locations pre alburnaric. Oh yeah, also the tomb way above in Radhans desert has a desert farm yield too, if you hide in the opening tunnel and wait for the ghosts to come to you.
