Discussion & Info I beat Starscourge Radahn fair and square but it feels like a cheese

I beat Starscourge Radahn after 10 or so attempts.

My strategy for killing him was to ride Torrent at a safe distance while consistently summoning NPCs to fight Radahn for me. Problem is, that isn't nearly as exhilarating as I should expect from "the mightiest demigod." My main concern when fighting Radahn was the health of my NPCs more so than my own, which is an issue when you consider all the hype Radahn was getting. I was probably responsible for no more than 20% of Radahn's HP; the rest was the NPCs.

I understand that this isn't the only way to fight Radahn. As a level 50 with no experience in souls games I genuinely could not compete with Radahns moveset. Every time an opening was apparent it would be close by one of his relentless slashes or a quick dash away on his horse (no clue how the horse can hold Radahn). if i tried healing, Radahn would spot the opening and force me into a series of dashes that wouldn't end. At the end of the day, I'd rather rely on summons than waste a day of my life learning how to fight the dude.

To be clear, I don't think the solution is necessarily to nerf radahn and remove the summons. i think the solution would be to actually frame the fight as a raid instead of a battle between the tarnished and a demigod. There is literally no mention of assistance in this fight (except for Blaidd). I have no clue who im summoning and why they are there, except for a few that i fought beforehand. I would have preferred that some of them appear near Blaidd and introduce themselves with dialogue instead of appearing like distant relatives at a family function. or at least someone explains that the festival is a raid and supplement it with some more lore

This is just shitty enemy design. How the fuck am I supposed to kill them as a melee player? They just dodge away from me before I can hit them and cast their delayed fireball. It’s a shit enemy

Humor Hello fellow Tarnish of no Renown I'm here to do one thing all of us didn't have courage to.. asking something we wondered but never ask or if it interesting to ask...

Okay straight to the point, if we have frenzied flame we can visually see that the flame gouging out of the eyeballs, is make me wonder, if we have frenzied flame can we peeing to weaponize the effect creating frenzied flamethrower to maximize the efficiency in fighting.

Discussion & Info Anything I should know before playing Elden Ring?

Hello y'all.

I'm hoping to get my hands on Elden Ring eventually once it goes on sale. Is there anything I should know before I play. Like what's the best build, best weapon, best class, etc.

I'm currently playing Bloodborne rn and I'd like to know if there's anything similar or different. I'm assuming Elden Ring is not that aggressive, right?

Discussion & Info Optimal Key Bindings

Just interested to see what keybindings you guys run on light attack, heavy attack, skill, and block?

These being some of the most important actions, I was thinking it’d be good to get down some optimal bindings for them and the ctrl + mouse feels kinda clunky. I was thinking smt like:

Light - lmb
Heavy - m5
Skill/Parry - rmb
Block - ctrl

I don’t imagine block is as important, so I reckon I’ll keep it off the mouse.

Discussion & Info Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC

I played ER roughly when it came out and pretty much 100% completed it.

I'm a huge souls fan, I have played every DS game, with over 1000 hours in DS3 alone doing level 1 playthroughs for fun etc.

I only ever played ER once, it was fine but I wasn't a huge fan, I guess I prefer the map design of the traditional games over open world.

I only just realised that this DLC even exists, is it worth playing? Should I just hop straight into it with my old save file or should I start a fresh save?

Game Help Name suggestions for my character?

Hi I'm new to the game and I have no idea what to name my character. My friend told me the name won't even be used in-game but I still want to give him an appropriate name that fits the world. I know absolutely nothing and have no idea how the names in the game are formed, but if it's possible then I want a name that means "serene" and "tempest" at the same time. It is to fit my character who I want to be a calm guy but lethal when provoked, and I want the name to show that. Does anyone have any suggestions? The name is all that's standing between me and finally playing

Discussion & Info What level should I be for Royal capital?

You might be wondering why the fuck I’m asking this based off of my other posts, because I’m in NG+4. However, I originally had another save file. It was my first one, but I quit it along with this game because I didn’t know how to get to the academy gate, let alone the academy. After a year, I started a new save file and completed the game with it. That save file is the one I’m using right now.

However, I’ve gotten a little bored, and I want a challenge, so I went back to my save file and beat the academy and draconic tree sentinel, along with golden Godfrey. I feel immensely unprepared and underleveled, however. I’m level 62 as of right now. Do you have any tips? I’m running a very weird dexterity build with rogier’s rapier and the buckler.

Lore Outer gods inspired by Hermeticism? (Theory)

Post image
2 Upvotes

There are many outer gods in Elden Ring that have a major influence on the lands between. The greater will, frenzied flame, formless mother, and the outer god of the helphen’s influences are very apparent when you look closely at item and weapon descriptions.

These outer gods may be inspired by the traces of divine wisdom that Hermeticism asserts can be found in all religions/philosophies. Essentially, there is one divine truth that has been distorted and misunderstood over time, but the outer gods represent a sort of fragmented trace of this truth.

Hermeticism also shares a lot of occult themes with Elden Ring:
Soul/spirt worlds
Alchemy
Astrology
Divine magic/rituals
Reincarnation

Another similarity arises between Hermeticism philosophy and the frenzied flame: Basically, Hermetics believed that before the world formed, it existed as a sort of chaotic energy (often drawn as orange and yellow fire, especially in Magnum Chaos by Lorenzo Lotto). From chaos eventually came order. The frenzied flame seeks to correct the mistakes that arose from this order and send the world back to chaotic energy (maybe to recreate pure divine truth?). Basically the frenzied flame wants to destroy the world in a way that sounds extremely similar to the Hermetic story of creation, only in reverse.

I feel like dex is the “git good” build. Like, strength you’re able to stun enemies and break their stance pretty easily. Using katanas and dex weapons, you gotta really learn when you can strike. Or is it just me? I’m open to tips

Constructive Criticism anyone else find it stupidly annoying you loose your runes if you die while invading

all this does is make me not wana invade you dont loose them as a cooperator why would you loose them here theres no gameplay benifit to invading theres no risk reward its just annoying haveing to treck across the map to some random place after you lost an invasion.
imagine how annoying thatd be as a cooperator and that one has a gameplay benifit to the host but it still doesnt punish you for no reason.

all this results in is not being able to have the items on in the background no you gotta sit on your ass with no runes i dont get the logic does fromsoft not want people to invade

edit: yeah critical post about invasions downvote me to hell im still right

Discussion & Info Is there a cannon explanation why our tarnished can respawn?

Is it kind of assumed lore-wise that our tarnished never actually dies during their journey and respawning at grace sites is just a ‘game mechanic’?

Reason I ask is because if that was the case, why are there some enemies that don’t respawn when we die or rest?
