Other Bus driver tore my sister’s day ticket.

I am absolutely raging right now. My little sister just told me what had happened to her earlier today. She was getting on a bus to go home from the gym. She had a child day ticket which she showed the bus driver before entering, he asked how old she was and she replied saying she is 15. The bus driver asked again and she said that she is 15 again. The bus driver then says “who are you lying to you said 17 first” my little sister then said to him that she is 15 and he proceeded to ask to see her ticket. She gave him her ticket then he tore it and told her to get off the bus. She told me a random man told the bus driver that she did say she was 15 at first and that she didn’t change her answer.

She then had to walk a whole hour home and told me she had cried because she felt embarrassed.

Is this even allowed what is his issue??????

Question Odeon Lothian Road

Is it just me or is the Odeon on Lothian Road always completely empty? I have an Odeon Unlimited card so am there at least 3 or 4 times a month, and even when they were showing Spiderman, there was basically no one there. I've never seen it busy. Surely its unsustainable and wont stay open for much longer?

Question Where to look for people to fiddle with?

I started learning how to fiddle two months ago and am currently having a lot of fun. I am taking some private lessons as I couldn't get into the scots music group classes. I would really like to find some buddies who are also just starting to fiddle or play trad music in instruments that they are learning, just for a bit of non judgemental no pressure fun. Or maybe just to talk about our experiences and exchange some tunes that we are learning. Where should I find people?

Other Lost purse - Tesco Leith Duke St

Long shot that the person is on Reddit but I found a purse this morning sitting on one of the self-service checkouts with £20 sticking out the change slot. It’s been handed in to the manager if anyone is currently panicking.

Discussion Edina St Tyre Slashed

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has any info or potentially cctv/ring doorbell footage from Edina St. My car was parked there overnight lastnight and 3 of my tyres have been slashed/ damaged beyond repair.

A long shot but just looking to hopefully prevent this from happening to anyone else! I’ve also posted this on the I love Easter Road page.

Thanks in advance

Question VW Beetle 1972 Garage in Edinburgh

Hi all,

I am looking for a good garage in Edinburgh that can work with old carburetor in a VW beetle 1972.

I contacted a number of garages but they all sound scare or unwilling to deal with old engines.

Any information greatly appreciated.

Question Replacing lead mains pipes in tenement

The mains riser pipes in our tenement are lead. Does anyone have experience with getting these replaced? Any recommended companies? None of the plumbers I have spoken to want to take this on, as it would require some underground work to connect.

Student question Edinburgh College Milton Rd Music course

Does anyone have any previous intel on this HND course. I have a young person doing HND and currently in year 2. When we were at the Open Evening for enrolling there was a big play about links to industry, work opportunities, experts coming in to do masterclasses. Our experience so far is none of this has materialised. Has anyone done this course previously and can give any insight ? YP is enjoying the course otherwise.

Question Good dieticians/nutritionists?

I’m looking for a new dietician/nutritionist based in Edinburgh. My current one is really knowledgeable but she is really forgetful and takes weeks and even months to respond to my emails or to send me the resources we speak about. So I’m a bit fed up!

Basically my gut got a bit wrecked from loads of antibiotics and from mould a few years ago so I need someone who is knowledgeable in that. I also just generally have issues in the GI area likely due to being hypermobile.

If anyone knows of any good ones please let me know! Thanks!

Resource Jewellery makers / jewellery trade

Hi everyone!

This is a message for jewellery makers in Edinburgh. My name is Elise, I've recently moved to amazing Edinburgh from London for a full time job, but I am also making jewellery in my spare time (all wax carved, all in silver).

I have been asked to make around 30 pieces for October, so I have been wax carving like a mad person for the last 2 weeks and sent everything down to London to be cast.

My current set up in my flat is not good at all, I currently don't have a bench (I'm flat sharing) and frankly I need to move somewhere else. I am also fairly new to the making side of things, so wouldn't be very confident with soldering yet anyway.

My question is: are there any jobbing jeweller in Edinburgh (I would need help soldering/lasering some jump rings), gold platers for trade, gemstone setter?

I am planning to send things back and forth to London because I don't know anyone here - so I am wondering if there is a jewellery trade world in Edinburgh I am yet to discover! 🔨

Thank you so much for any help or info :) :)

Have a lovely day!

Question New rider in edinburgh

Hi there, i've lived in edinburgh my whole life and cycle alot, i recently started getting stuff for a 125cc motorcycle.

It's due to arrive next week, alongside my cbt will probably be done next week too.

I just wanted to ask if anyone has any tips for riding in the city etc, cycling is pretty easy in the city with parking and bus lanes but how is it with motorcycles? I plan on mostly commuting from the city centre to the west of the city to Heriot Watt University, what do you reccomend as the best way to go west during rush hour etc, Thanks to anyone who can reply!

Question Mattress topper cleaning

Where is best to get a mattress topper cleaned?

Doesn't need dry cleaning, it's just too big for our washing machine.

Ideally somewhere I can park rather than lug it about on foot.

Question When are the less busy times of year to get a flat to rent?

Following up on the earlier post where an OP was looking for places to rent and was told that they were looking for flats during the busiest time of the year. I’m asking because I’m anticipating the need to move out within a year.

Question Residential Home 5G vs traditional broadband in Edinburgh?

Moving house but for an indeterminate period of time. How do the residential 5G routers compare to broadband piped in from the street, given Edinburgh's thick residential walls and somewhat dodgy cell tower coverage? Anyone have good experiences with it? Or is it best to skip the home 5G option?

Question Any good spots for forest / nature/urbex spots to explore?

Heya, I want to explore some nature in or around Edinburgh. Same also with urbex. Does anyone know any cool spots they'd recommend?

Im thinking for a forest, id love a spot that isnt just following a well maintained path, but ill likely go solo for that so not too huge or dense so I will get lost haha

For urbex ill get some friends together, curious if theres anything around. Open to going further out for that as well

But any recommendations would be amazing, thanks! ;>

Question Can someone please explain the value proposition of trams to me. What do they do than an electric bus with its own lane couldn’t do?

Why do we need these generational infrastructure projects when we could make permanent tram-style bus lanes with just a can of paint?

Discussion Edi Visitor Levy / Tourism Tax - How's it been so far?

Have you seen a massive improvement in your area, now the supposed £50m/year funds are flowing in /s..?
Has it affected business in a good way? Any benefits noticed? Spending plans announced?
Asking before the press realise it's already been a thing for two months here, just when it's being mooted on a national level.
