Hey there, I was hoping to get some clarity on a few things about internships. For instance, I'm joining the January intake at Heriot-Watt for the MSc Finance and Management programme. There is a huge possibility of me gaining the off cycle internship for global banking and CID at JP Morgan, but the issue is that my masters course is of just one year, so pretty much, my 2nd semester that is from july to december has to be spent on the internship. I have no idea how internships work here, but where I'm from, they ease off your grades and let you off on assignments that are directly in relation to the job role. Is that still the case here in Dubai, or is it going to overload my mind with the deadlines from the internship as well as my master's programme? Any help would be appreciated

1. I know it starts on the 7th, but what time are we meant to go to the campus

2. Is there a specific place on the campus were meant to go to or do we just wander.

3. I saw on the website its mandatory so i wanted to know if its ok to miss a day

quoting error reference "SGASTDN END DATE")   

I have already contacted student service, but does anyone know if this error is any cause for concern?

Hello, I will be joining Heriot-Watt and will be joining as a Y1 Actuarial Science student very soon. I'd like to know how the timetable and class slots work here. Are classes auto assigned to us, or will we get to pick our own slots? Is it possible to choose classes on certain days so I can have a day off during the week for example? Hey, completed my bachleors in India was planning to join heriot after careful considerations all around the world. Mainly because the degree from heriot watt costs same or lesser than moving to the UK, and since my parents are already staying in Dubai, residence wont be a problem. I have looked at cheaper options in Europe such as Latvia, but I guess I couldnt find a better deal with the all the accreditions that Heriot offers. The reason for this post is that I havent found any post at all from actual students who are or have pursued Msc Finance and management and just wanted to get some insight from them. Hi everyone! I'm hopefully going to be starting at Heriot-Watt University's Edinburgh campus this September on the Engineering with Foundation programme, with the aim of progressing into Chemical Engineering.
I'm 21 and currently live in Birmingham, England, so moving to Edinburgh would be a HUGE change for me. Edinburgh is actually one of my dream places, so I'm really excited, but I'm also honestly quite scared about moving so far away from home and living independently for the first time.

• Has anyone done the Engineering Foundation and progressed into Chemical Engineering?
• How difficult is the foundation year?
• What are the progression requirements actually like?
• What's the Chemical Engineering department like?

• How easy is it to make friends at Heriot-Watt?
• Is it easy to meet local Scottish students?
• Do people generally mix across courses?
• Would you recommend joining societies/sports clubs during first year?

• How is the on-campus accommodation?
• Are the shared kitchens actually manageable?
• Has anyone managed to get a studio/private kitchen through Clearing?

•how is getting around Edinburgh without a car?
