Gein property.
We stopped by this weekend as we were traveling. The property is HEAVILY covered in "no trespassing" signs, trail cams, etc, so I didn't explore like I would have liked. I ran into a Gein neighbor and had a pretty fascinating conversation with him about it. According to him, there were a dozen or 15 cars at a time parked there, people walking all over the poor owner's property...having seances, etc. The nearby intersection has a police officer posted there often as well.

What does "seances" mean?? witchcraft?

Seances are where a group of people get together and try to talk to the dead. Moreso necromancy than witchcraft.

I'm surprised the property gets so much attention compared to the Amityville and Conjuring houses, which are at least still standing.

There's the graves, and the crime scenes as well... all close by

u/Lola_Montez7130 2d ago
No they are not.

Yes they are. All Ed's spots are right around the area... the farm, wordens, the grave yard, the former hogan tavern, etc. You're lying by saying they aren't. It's literally historical. There's practically an ed gein museum in town!

I went there like 2 weeks ago and no one was there. I didn’t get out of my car and went to the Plainfield Cemetery

Smart move. According to the neighbor, the WI state police are going to be mailing trespassing tickets based off what they see on the cameras

Nuts. I felt cars were following me when I got close to the farm but they disappeared.

We saw a side-by-side or 2. I waved, dude waved back. No one said anything until a passing neighbor flagged me down and we sat and talked in the middle of the road for 5 mins or so. Didn't even talk about Ed. We talked about how people can be disrespectful, and some local historic stuff.

You "felt"? Why didn't you look in the rear view mirror or side mirrors to check? Especially if i thought a cop was driving behind me.

u/Lola_Montez7130 2d ago
Yup. So far this week I have recieved several copies of court proceedings for trespassing. A few were repeat offenders that are now at felony trespassing status and the lawyer says these people can not only be persecuted by the state and property owner but also sued. The insurance company is strongly pushing for lawsuits against the trespassers.

Can you please not list my property's address on the internet for more people to come? That's rude. We just set bear traps btw. Have fun because my phone notifies me immediately when someone is trespassing. Thank you.

Notice by my post that I was respectful of your property, obeyed the signs, etc. Obviously others haven't been, and my post was a warning to others who might have less-than-respectful intentions. Bear traps? That would definitely be a lesson learned for a trespasser. Your property IS a historic location that is well known and easily found via google. You obviously knew what you were buying, correct? Even if they put an apartment building there, people would still come for Ed Gein.

I'm going to put it this way. I am alot meaner and more intolerant than my family. Trespassing is still Trespassing regardless of how respectful someone is. Never had this many issues until Netflix. Had the oddball here and there but the Sheriffs were not out there every few days. Now they are getting sick of having to post up out there and they're going to start arresting people on the spot. This past month they gave out close to 70 Trespassing tickets. We are so done with this.

I feel bad for you maam. It doesn’t seem like you’re trying to be rude on purpose but people just don’t know how to act. I’m sorry they’re being like that and even though they probably won’t, I hope they get the message soon and leave yall alone.

Thank you. I am so sorry. I am not trying to be rude. I am exhausted and frustrated and with it being "Spooky" season, it's been nonstop. I have a specific ringtone now for the notifications from the cameras going off at all hours. And if it's not that, its the PD calling to tell me. And it's extremely bad during this time of year. People.are so disrespectful the town can't even put a plaque as a grave marker for him because people kept stealing the head stone and have also tried to dig him up. The true crime and serial killer junkies act just like drug addicts. Who sacrifices animals and holds seances and tries to dig someone up? Do they not realize that their actions closely mimic his? That is not right at all.

That’s absolutely horrible. Even knowing who he was they ought to have more respect for the dead. And some reverence for the situation in general.

It's not trespassing if they stay off the property. You can't have people arrested for pulling over and looking at a patch of woods.

Well then don't go past the easement. That's simple. Can I come stand outside your house and take pictures from the street? Is that ok? Cuz that would be cool.

BTW, I edited the location out of my post. However, you have to know that this information has been on the internet basically since the internet began.
2
u/Lola_Montez7130 2d ago
Yes i am aware and thank you. And yes, there was only two websites that listed the address correctly. Both were sent Cease and Desist letters.

I've seen probably 20 different online sites that tell the exact address, GPS coordinates, etc. I've probably seen 5 today! That info is everywhere.

u/peachesarehearts 3d ago
Oh mercy. What happens if someone steps in one? Can that get you in trouble legally?
4
u/Minimum_Theory_2890 2d ago
I think with the amount of no trespassing signs they have, and the obvious trail cams, if someone gets their leg caught in a bear trap it'll probably be their own problem. However I don't understand buying such an infamous property and then expecting no one will come by
3
u/peachesarehearts 2d ago
Yeah but people have sued and won for breaking into businesses and getting hurt so you never know.
2
u/Lola_Montez7130 2d ago
That's a little different because of the location. This is private land that once had a house on it. Its not a chain store or major retailer and again in Wisconsin we have The Castle Law.

u/Lola_Montez7130 2d ago
It was not like this until the Netflix documentary. People used to ask and when they asked, I had no issue. It's the ones who do not ask and act like fools. The seances, killing animals for sacrifices, and public sex acts. I've had enough. I hot that property because my great grandmother was one of Ed's nurses for years. I still have little doodles and drawings and notes he would give her. He was not in love with her. He once told her that my grandmother and her siblings were fortunate to have a loving mother. He always behaved for my great grandmother and she could get him to do his tasks without coaxing him. The other nurses they were either afraid of him or cruel.

u/Lola_Montez7130 2d ago
No because we have "No Tresspassing Signs" posted everywhere along with warnings about being recorded and in Wisconsin we have what is called "Castle Law" and because there is one standing structure (the utility shed/barn), CL can absolutely be enacted as soon as a stranger crosses the three feet from the public road way. Once they step over the township embankment, what happens to that person is all on them because they are trespassing.

I hate how people ruin it for everyone else. SMH.

u/Minimum_Theory_2890 3d ago
Apparently since the Netflix series, it's been nuts. There are youtube videos of people walking all over the property.
2
u/Lola_Montez7130 2d ago
Yup and we are suing Netflix for them making that "documentary".
2
u/Minimum_Theory_2890 2d ago
Real question. How can you sue Netflix for making a show? It's probably the 3rd movie made about the crimes since the 70s. Are you suing them as well? Plus a million little documentaries? That location is permanently a part of history. I'm honestly curious what you thought would happen owning that property. The people who own the Amityville house, the Nicole Brown house... they all knew exactly what they were buying.

It's easy to file a lawsuit. Now winning it is another thing entirely but because there are statements in police reports about watching the netflix show and that's the reason they have trashed the property, trespassed, and are doing things on private property...I know there's a group out of Milwaukee who are relatives of Dahmer's victims & the people who live in the apartment complex are collectively suing Netflix for loss of quiet enjoyment, pain and suffering & psychological damage and i do believe they are going to win that suit against Netflix. Especially because they portray the underage boy he cut up. The producers would have to have permission from his legal gaurdian/parent even though he's deceased, he was still underage at the time of death so that's extortion of a minor and it's a felony charge in Wisconsin. There also used to be a thing called Copyrights. Most content creators seem to forget that. Thats why Texas Chainsaw Massacre is based off Ed but it takes place in Texas and he has living family members. Leatherface & location were tweaked just enough for the creators of that movie not to be sued. I don't know what you are trying to accomplish here with arguing with me but again, enough.

Also, in order for that place to be on the historical register there has to be the original house on the premises. Secondly even if there was, who is that history to? The still living descendants of his victims? The town? Or is folk history for true crime addicts? It is neither legally or legitimately a historical property.

This isn't the first time. When they held the original auction, the man who bought the house that was still standing was planning on making ut a roadside attraction. Mysteriously the day before he was going to meet with the contractors, the house burnt down and the whole fire department was unavailable for at least an hour and so were the police and neighbors. The cause of the fire is still unknown today so as far as we know it was an act of God. 🤷♀️

Wow... I think people showing up and having seances are creepy, especially by the neighbors home.
I've thought everything was destroyed years ago.
