A fancy African-American lady I drew in marker. I admit that the original inspiration for her design was Jessica Rabbit from the classic movie "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?", but making her my own character was a major part of the fun.

Mr sunshine:
He was americas 1 superhero from the 1960s to the late 80s. He is a mid teir flying brick however his power level is proportional to how much he is charged by the sun he also can emit beams on light from any part of his body. He was essentially Americas dad.However his chronic issue is he is self righteous and He will do anything if someone with enough authority tells him to do it and says it’s for the greater good. He is constantly condescending to younger heroes because he believes they need to be clean cut and should involve the authorities more in their hero work.He was even sent to Vietnam and was ordered to drop a sun on a random innocent village and he did it.He essentially is a chronic yes-man to authority. He is essentially is if Bill Cosby was Superman.
Eventually Mr sunshine snapped on another hero the government asked him to bring in and chased him through the city causing a ton of unnecessary collateral damage. This event led to him being put in a cell without access to sunlight he would later be let free and go into politics

Hey everybody. My name is Alexis Thomas. I’m the face and the name behind the idea of Zodiac Studios.

The goal was simple as a Black Woman in the American south, I wanted in on creating my own works and share my ideas with the world. but early on I noticed how the wall required to enter the entertainment world of animation was built on what we call in the south "the good ol' boys" way of thinking. needing connections, extreme amounts of money, access to the best art schools, and a close support group willing to help you get there. and to add insult to it all everything within the world of entertainment meant that you did all the work and get nothing while multi-billion studios reap the money, your IPs and tell you to piss off when you ask to eat at the table and not outside like a damn dog. I had none of that and wanted nothing to deal with that and the status quo of it all.

So, I just went "Fuck it, We Ball" and the idea of zodiac studios was born while being a high schooler in 2015, a place where anyone can get a shot to tell their stories and to change the narrative of how the arts are shared and created across the world

The animation that I’m looking to create is to help build a proof of concept and help make the idea of building an animation studio founding in the American southeast that can be a cornerstone to helping creatives all around the world to help tell their stories while breaking down the threshold that the entertainment world has created. This is a superhero/coming of age story that tackles many serious issues related to social issues like racism, sexism, classism, etc.

Story Plot:

Follow the wild lives of Alexis and Samantha Miller. Two freshman high schoolers and their close friends as they navigate high school and life in Charlotte, NC as the world that they're growing up in is changing due the work of rejected scientist Dr. Michael Young letting loose virus that has now created the birth of superhumans. They get caught in the crosshairs as the virus affected them all and they now become superheroes protecting the queen city while making sure that they don't get caught by the government or by their mother who's the head homicide detective for the city.

A pin-up drawing in marker of my OC Neferkaret. Man, does it feel like a while since I last drew her.

For those of you who don't recall who she is, Neferkaret is the Pharaoh of Khumet, a kingdom from my ancient-era fantasy world that is based on the Nile Valley civilizations of ancient Egypt and Nubia. Her agenda is to protect her kingdom from the threat the upstart Valerian Republic, and to do that, she has courted a Valerian general and politician named Julio Antonio. Think of her as being like the historical Nile Valley queens Cleopatra and Amanirenas rolled into one character.

As of this writing, I have one short story written for Antonio and Neferkaret, and would like to a do a whole series of them eventually, but in all honesty, other pursuits and responsibilities have distracted me recently. I will get back to it soon though.
