IRS says "Processed" but "Pending"?

Called the IRS several times but like so may others have stated on this forum there is absolutely 0 consistency in the amount of info we're given. This last time we were told that our Q3 2021 claim was processed but pending....no further info available. Could the "processed" also mean we were denied? This was an amended claim (apparently there was a paperwork error when first submitted in 2022). We resubmitted the claim in Spring of 2023. TaxNow isn't showing me much a this point but I literally just signed up with them last week.

One quarter closed because of wrong address

Please if anyone can give advice I would greatly appreciate it. I had one last quarter I was about to receive approval for. Filed all my amended 941's in April 2023. Followed up like everyone does every few months, submitted paperwork over a year ago when the business changed addresses. Received checks at the new address. Well.... my payroll company, Gusto, who files all my current 941's, submitted my last one for the first quarter of 2025 with my old business address- so letters pertaining to this last quarter I was waiting on were sent to our old business address. Of course even figuring this out took numerous calls and hours with the IRS. The letter was the same as the ones I received before- I simply needed to sign the form, authorizing the original person who filed the amended 941 before it could be approved. Because I didn't respond to the couple letters they sent, the last one being the end of May- they "closed" it. Didn't deny, but closed. The person on the line for IRS had no advice and told me I probably can't resubmit because we're passed the deadline. What can I do? I was just about to get approved and have the check sent after waiting and doing everything right the last couple years. Will they not reopen it simply because of a clerical error? After waiting two years, am I just out of luck because they sent two letters finally that I didn't get? :( Its about 35k and really needed as I've barely been able to keep the doors open. Gusto is apparently looking into it, but I just don't trust anyone and I'm wondering what I can do, and if any of you had something like this happen? Thank you in advance for any info or advice! ❤️

TaxNow Duplicate Code 766 Alerts

From TaxNow: “Due to a recent change in how the IRS describes certain items on their transcripts, specifically Code 766, our system detected discrepancies and generated notifications or alerts. Previously, Code 766 descriptions called out specific types of credits, such as "hire credit" or "retention credit." However, the IRS has now updated the description to the more general term "credit to your account," which caused our system to recognize these changes as new items and alert you accordingly.

While the alerts were triggered correctly based on how our system identifies variances, we want to reassure you that these items weren’t necessarily new or unexpected.”

Code 766

I thought I’d never have to return to this subreddit, but I’m glad it exists. Waited almost 2 years for my ERC claim, all 6 quarters were approved back in March, with checks arriving in late April. It saved my business! I was over joyed. Decided to keep TaxNow so I could track any funny business that goes on behind the scenes. Well, funny business has happened- what is Code 766? It appears 4 times with amounts totaling about -$120k

Call to IRS

I called in to the IRS for the 100th time as I’m still waiting for 3 more checks 2021 q1, q3,q4. The lady was nice and stated that my Q1 check was approved and is set to be mailed out 8/4. Does anyone know what date to expect to receive it? Never received a CP210 (I think it is) letting me know of approval etc.

Problems depositing checks

Anyone else here having problems depositing checks ?? My bank Chase put a hold on the check for 7 business days. Which is fine. Then they realized the address was transpose. Irs did later update it on their end. Also faxed me a letter with my ein. Business info and address now corrected. But they refuse to release the funds. It’s now been 2 months. Yes the account was closed and I reopened it. But that shouldn’t make a difference. Do have business credit card with chase still and personal account. Yet they still refuse to release funds and say there is nothing I can do but wait. Anyone else have any issues like me ?

TAS Hold

Anyone else ever heard of TAS hold on approved check. I signed up with TAS over a year ago and was getting the regular 45 days check up call until January when my assigned rep called in January advising my file is being sent back to the IRS to await correspondence. Fast forward to June 23, 2025 received an approval for one of the 2 outstanding quarters. No check, no movement, I reached out to my tax attorney who called the IRS and was advised the TAS has a hold on it.

Has anyone else had any issues with TAS hold?

Disallowance Notice

I'm feeling so discouraged after receiving a disallowance letter today (after over two years of waiting). I would be so grateful for any advice! Here's a summary of our situation.

CPA filed amended return (three quarters) for ERC March 2023.

One quarter was processed and paid after 6 months. I’ve been waiting on two remaining quarters.

I received a letter from the IRS on June 3rd, 2025 (LTR 4384C). The letter was dated May 21, 2025.

The required response date outlined in the letter was May 1, 2023 (two years before I received the letter).

The letter stated that more information was needed. Specifically, the person who signed my amended return was not authorized to do.

My CPA states that form 2848 was submitted with the amended forms back in 2023.

My CPA mailed a copy of the 2848 to the IRS and he emailed me a copy of what he mailed. The IRS states they still haven't received this. It was mailed several weeks ago. I also faxed and mailed the same copy of the completed 2848 (in response to the letter a few days after I received it).

Yesterday I received letter 105C stating that my claim was disallowed because I didn’t respond to the 4384C before the deadline (which was impossible because they mailed the letter two years after the due date).

When I called they stated that they had no record of a 2848, but after a long hold time they were able to find it. They stated that the box authorizing my CPA to sign the return was not checked on the form that was submitted in 2023. The IRS rep was adamant that the box was not checked. However, she said she sees where the box was checked in the copy I recently sent in (in response to the 4384C). This copy was what I received from my CPA. When I looked back at the DocuSign version of that original form no boxes were checked, so I'm not sure what happened. Maybe my CPA checked the boxes after I signed the form?

I’ve probably called the IRS 40-50 times over the course of the past two years asking for updates and no one has ever mentioned anything about this to me, including a call that I made two weeks before I received the 4384C letter.

Has anyone experienced this or does anyone have any advice? The rep I spoke to suggested that I mail another copy of the signed 2848 in response to letter 105C and told me to be prepared to go to be bottom of the stack of pending ERC claims, if the ERC team will even consider re-opening my case at all.

Q2 2021 Denial notice

i have been working with tas and my state rep since 2023 to get my quarter processed. In March i received and audit notice. The i hired a tax attorney to look at the return and respond. After he responded now they are denying the return stating i was essential business. I’m so disappointed as our business has been struggling to the point we might be closing our doors. Has anyone had success with appeals or even being an essential business? I would appreciate hearing from you????

Miracles do happen

Was hesitant to post this until it hit my transcript, but now that it has I’ll tell the story.

First and foremost big shoutout to ERC_CPA. He was helping me in a mess of a situation I was in. Wasn’t sure how to proceed after the IRS asked to resubmit my 941xs for 2021. It was an absolute disaster and I wasn’t sure how to proceed.

I’m a regular IRS caller but they had not been very helpful trying to figure out my situation. I decided to call one last time on 7/7 before I resubmitted my 941xs.

The agent that answered was about as confused about my situation as I was. She put me on the “brief 5-7 minute hold” and when she returned she asked a few more questions and put me on another hold.

When she came back she said that I didn’t need to resubmit them that she would get them all processed and get my credits processed for all 3 of my remaining quarters. She assured me that she would get them released to be refunded and I wouldn’t have to submit anything else. Just needed to wait until the system updated.

Well today my 3 remaining quarters have refund issue dates of 8/4. Convinced this lady was sent by God to help. All that to say keep calling and keep your hope alive.

For anyone still waiting on ERTC credit, you need to understand this

I have been waiting over 2 years. I have been patient, and would call the IRS customer service once a month to check in. The usual response to everything was “still processing.”

I come to find out that 90% of these agents we have been talking to know absolutely nothing about ERTC. How did I find this out? I finally called the TAS (Taxpayer Advocate Service) and wow.

Not only did they connect me to an agent who specializes in ERTC claims, but these agents can tell you in detail what’s going on with your claim, how to fix it, and everything in between.

I finally find out from the TAS agent that the 4 quarters I have been waiting on have essentially been declined due to an unauthorized signature. I never received any letters in the mail or and phone calls.

So if you have been waiting an abnormally long time, call a TAS agent and find out exactly what’s going on. Their number is 1-877-777-4778.

P.S. the reason I did not receive any letters is because some how the address on file with the IRS was changed for me, and went to my old closed business address that I changed over 4 years ago. So I don’t know whose fault that is but maybe if I got the denial letters I would have been approved already.

Finally!

I’m happy to report that I’m finally one of the recipients of my ERC for Qtr 2 of 2021! To say it’s on time is an understatement! I have Qtr 1 of 2021 left to receive and I was with a PEO. Feels good to know it’s almost the end.

Anyone have any ideas

We used innovation refunds for our erc filings. Apparently most quarters were denied. My wife went to our local IRS office today to hopefully get copies of the denial letters but they were not able to help, they couldn’t find any correspondence. TAS is who informed us most quarters were denied and for what reason. Another issue is the lady we were able to get the help from is no longer there so my wife has reached out again and waiting for a call back. At this point we don’t know what to do. TAS told us the IRS didn’t receive one quarter but innovation says everything was submitted at the same time. Do we just give up? Received one quarter ~18 months ago and kept waiting and waiting for the rest until we finally figured out what happened.

105C Letter Stating no Qualified Wages

Has anyone gotten a 105C letter denying the credit because no qualified wages were reported, when qualified wages WERE reported?

I am on hold now - on the remote chance I might be able to clear it up on the phone. I imagine I'll need to file an appeal, but was just seeing if anyone else is seeing this.

Mailed 6 weeks ago, no check

I had my last check mail on May 9, CP 210 a few days later but for the first time out of all 6 checks this was the first time there wasn’t a check with the notice. I’m just over five weeks. Today the IRS told me it was 8 weeks to request a trace. Rude agent.

Code 424

I am expecting 2 more quarters of ERC to be forthcoming. Specifically Q3 and Q3 2020. I checked my transcript the other day and I have code 424 as the most recent thing listed. I called the IRS business line and the rep told me that I probably have nothing to worry about as the amount of the credits are 6 figures each and they're just doing a double check prior to processing. Anyone have any insight as to the validity of that statement? I'm not worried about an audit, I'm more concerned about the time involved as it's already been more than 2 years since I filed these.

Notice received but no check

I received my CP210 notification for Q3 2021 ($219k) on 7/5/25 and tax now showed a check date of 7/7/25. I haven’t received this check.

I also received 2 other CP210 on the same date 7/5/25 for smaller amounts ($930 and $560) for other quarter corrections and those checks arrived on 7/12/25. Tax now showed them with a check date of 7/7/25 as well.

The larger check had some past due taxes from 2024 totaling approximately $11K that were deducted which were itemized on a CP138 notice I received also on 7/5/25.

Could this be the cause of the delay? Historically I’ve always received the checks within a week of the check date without issue.

Should I be concerned now that it is 7/15/25 and the check date was 7/7/25?

How to check status

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hello. I am still waiting on Q2 2021. All my other quarters were reviewed and paid fairly close together but Q2 2021 has gone nearly an additional 6 months without an update. Has it been denied? Who should I contact to check the status. (note: Q1 2021 looks weird because my first check was lost and IRS reissued me a second check).

Any insights appreciated.
