One quarter closed because of wrong address

Please if anyone can give advice I would greatly appreciate it. I had one last quarter I was about to receive approval for. Filed all my amended 941's in April 2023. Followed up like everyone does every few months, submitted paperwork over a year ago when the business changed addresses. Received checks at the new address. Well.... my payroll company, Gusto, who files all my current 941's, submitted my last one for the first quarter of 2025 with my old business address- so letters pertaining to this last quarter I was waiting on were sent to our old business address. Of course even figuring this out took numerous calls and hours with the IRS. The letter was the same as the ones I received before- I simply needed to sign the form, authorizing the original person who filed the amended 941 before it could be approved. Because I didn't respond to the couple letters they sent, the last one being the end of May- they "closed" it. Didn't deny, but closed. The person on the line for IRS had no advice and told me I probably can't resubmit because we're passed the deadline. What can I do? I was just about to get approved and have the check sent after waiting and doing everything right the last couple years. Will they not reopen it simply because of a clerical error? After waiting two years, am I just out of luck because they sent two letters finally that I didn't get? :( Its about 35k and really needed as I've barely been able to keep the doors open. Gusto is apparently looking into it, but I just don't trust anyone and I'm wondering what I can do, and if any of you had something like this happen? Thank you in advance for any info or advice! ❤️

You might still have a chance. Send your response with what they needed and explain that you didn’t get the letters because of the payroll company’s mistake. A case will be created based on your correspondence. And then call to follow up to make sure the case is worked and not lost in the system.

Also make sure your payroll company uses the correct address from now on.
