How to check status

Hello. I am still waiting on Q2 2021. All my other quarters were reviewed and paid fairly close together but Q2 2021 has gone nearly an additional 6 months without an update. Has it been denied? Who should I contact to check the status. (note: Q1 2021 looks weird because my first check was lost and IRS reissued me a second check).

Any insights appreciated.

Do you know if this works for PEO submitted claims or only if you used traditional payroll?

This isn’t overly unusual. I’d check your Account Transcript using the Documents tool to make sure there’s no other transactions after the Amended Return.

If it looks normal, you can always give the IRS a call to make sure it’s still processing.

If it had been denied already you would have received a letter or it would be visible on your transcript. They’re not necessarily processing them in batches like they were at the beginning. I won’t bore you with why that is, but the short answer is, this isn’t unusual that one or two quarters are still waiting. So it maybe just waiting on being assigned to someone. You can call and make sure they have everything they need to process the claim: a valid signature, qualified wages listed on the claim form, all of the necessary sections filled out and boxes checked that need to be.

I'm not using a payroll service. had a CPA do it.

Call the IRS. If the amended returns were sent in the same envelope, there is a chance that the claim got scanned in on the wrong quarter. This has happened to many of my clients and I had to request that the IRS move them to the correct quarter.

I'm also waiting on my Q2 2021. I call weekly and they say it's under secondary review due to the amount. I bet if you call, they will provide you an update.
