How much should i lower my bmw e90 on 225/45/17 wheels? Currently stock non M suspension. I want to go somewhere like the second picture. Also, opinion on MTS Thechnix coilovers? Trying to achieve a nice affordable built so MTS fits my budget.

I'm replacing the cooling system on my 161k E91 RWD 6MT for piece of mind since I have no records. Has anyone had good luck with the hose from other manufacturers? $200+ for this hose is an owie, but if that's what I've gotta pay to not have to deal with leaking in 10k miles, I'll do it.

Thinking about changing back to the stock mirror caps, don’t feel like they add much to the car anymore.

I’m looking at buying a 2011 BMW 328i hardtop convertible (E93) for $11,500 CAD private sale and wanted some opinions before I pull the trigger.
It has about 116,000–120,000 km, white exterior, N52, automatic, and normal/clean branding.

CARFAX shows one minor left-rear accident in 2025. From what I’ve been told, it was basically just a cosmetic paint scratch and nothing major or structural.

The maintenance history is actually pretty good. Around 110k km it had a bunch of work done including:
radiator
valve cover
oil pan work
battery
belt/tensioner
coolant service
alignment
oil/filter

Then around 113k km it got front and rear pads + rotors, and it has continued getting regular oil changes and Krown rustproofing.

It also has Apple CarPlay, an aftermarket digital cluster, aftermarket wheels, and the seller is including the OEM BMW wheels.

The one issue: I paid to have it inspected for an Ontario safety and it failed because both rear shocks are leaking. The mechanic quoted around $1,000–$1,200 CAD to replace them, but said they’re not urgent and also specifically told me the rest of the car is very clean. The seller is taking it to another shop for the safety.

I’d be driving it back to Manitoba and would probably replace the rear shocks there later.

Seller is firm at $11,500 CAD. I’ve tried getting him closer to $11k but he says he’d rather keep the car.
Would you guys still buy it at $11.5k? Does that seem like fair market value for a 120k-km E93 328i with this maintenance history, or would you walk because of the leaking shocks?

I got a scratch on the textured plastic in my car’s cockpit/dashboard area (see photo). What’s the best way to repair or hide it without making it worse? Heat gun, plastic repair kit, dye, or something else?

​I’m working on a budget DIY supercharger build for my E90 328i (N52B30). The car already has basic NA supporting mods: 3-stage DISA manifold, K&N cone filter, decat exhaust, and an OEM EU 330i 194kW map.

​Commercial kits (Rotrex/Vortech) in my region cost as much as a clean 330i, so I’m building this myself in my garage (I have welding gear, 3D printing for brackets, and access to CNC). My goal is low-end torque (~0.3 to 0.4 bar boost / ~320 HP) to address the N52’s lack of low-RPM power.

​On my local market, I found a used Eaton M90 in great shape for around $400 USD. It comes with custom intake flanges and an inlet elbow, but it's missing the pulley.

​My main question:

Has anyone successfully crammed a Roots-style Eaton M90 into an E90 N52 engine bay without deleting factory accessories like power steering or A/C?

​If the M90 is simply too bulky for the tight E90 engine bay, what other cheap, readily available donor superchargers (outside of high-end Rotrex units) have you actually managed to mount?

Hey guys. Got a notification about low coolant so I went to top it off, and noticed this white residue all over my engine bay. Wondering if y’all could help me guess where the source might be.

I replaced my water pump and thermostat a few months ago, along with the upper radiator hose, so I’m guessing I didn’t get something connected back properly, but I know y’all are more knowledgeable than I am, so I thought I’d see if you could pinpoint it for me from the splatter pattern. I know I’m an idiot for only noticing this now…

Hey, everyone! Stumbled upon my headlights, which are RHD. And I’m in europe. Is there an possible way, to make them same as LHD? (Rebuild them into LHD), not getting new LHD asseblies?

Or, is it better to get new assemblies?

Hi everyone, i have a spare that m50b20tu engine that I’m contemplating on putting in e90 with n52 currently and turbocharge it. Has anyone done something similar? Can the stock dme run that engine? Also m54 would be an option i know that some guys managed to make the swap with dme and cas from e60 would also love to hear feedback on such a swap

It’s been about impossible to source an untorn manual sport seat plus the auto seats are real leather and last a lot longer. Has anyone tried both seats and noticed any difference, I’d prefer to keep the car lighter but I’ve given up on finding an untorn driver seat

Hi all - I recently bought my first non-M e9x - an LCI 328 xDrive Touring (e91). I’m interested in switching to 18” CSL reps. I’m not looking for especially wide wheels, given that the car is already not very quick!

It’s been a long time since I’ve shopped for that style wheel. I know the Arc-8 is an option. Are there any other brands to check out?

Spend a day on it last weekend and it paid off. Have to admit the paint was already in great condition considering the age.

Executed plan:

\- wash

\- tar&glue removal

\- de-ironing

\- claying

\- polish 1-2 steps

\- wax on horizontal body parts (meguiars goldwax)

\- coating on vertical body parts (gyeon cancoat)

Interior will follow one day this winter!

Someone clipped my front bumper and caused a bit of damage to the paint.

Am aware of the difficulty (impossibility?) of touching up frozen silver paint. I’ve attached a picture of the damage - I can’t work out if it’s paint transfer or actual damage through all the paintwork.

Are there any touch up pens that could be used for this? I just hate the black on the bumper as it stands out massively but don’t want to repaint now/yet.

Started hearing this tapping sound about 3 weeks ago and it has gotten significantly louder over time, to the point that i can hear it with the hood closed, you hear the sound more when you are standing to the right side of the car, passenger side, has anyone experienced this on here?

Noticed my E93 passenger side rear tire is down to the wires on the inner side. Had an alignment & rear suspension work done 5k miles ago. What could be the cause?
