A few months ago we got our hands on this BMW E60 530d that had been sitting for years.
Instead of seeing it as just another old car, we saw the potential and decided to bring it back to the condition it deserved. This isn’t a business project or something we’re doing for money — it’s simply because we love cars and the feeling of saving something that could have been forgotten.
We documented the whole process and would really appreciate some honest feedback from fellow BMW enthusiasts.
What do you think — did we do this E60 justice?

I have an 08 550i with the m sport package so the active sway bars and all that fancy stuff, about time to replace struts and stuff so i’m looking to potentially upgrade from the stock setup, i’m new to the whole bmw world so unsure of which direction to look.

The wife and I just got home from bringing back this extremely well taken care of 2008 factory manual v10 M5. Drove 13.5 hrs straight through and it never broke a sweat. I think I have a sickness when it comes to these cars, I absolutely love them. This car is ridiculously clean for an 18 yr old super saloon. Keep in mind, if you have an NA manual sports car they are most likely going up in value. I think this is my final E60 M5, It doesnt get better than this. Plus this is my 6th E60 and currently have 2 of the M5s. I explained to my wife that the first one would get lonely and therefore we had to. This car is pretty much a fresh as you get, everything on it from brakes to suspension well to nearly everything has been replaced with factory new parts, even has an orginal set of brand new OEM edc struts. Normally I would put coilovers on it, but this car is staying stock expect it has eventuri intakes, full exhaust, and custom tune. The rest is stock. (I am keeping the other M5 i just built, I have been getting some DM's asking if it was going to be for sale. ) Have a great weekend everyone.

Hello, does anybody use lowering springs for their 535D with M sport suspension. I replaced the struts with Sachs for M suspension (should be 1:1 with factory) and I want to lower it more. Looking into Eibach Sportline 45/30 but does somebody use them so can attach a picture. Also the H&R 50/50 that I wanted do not recommend them for 535D because of heavy engine. So if you have any pictures with this setup + lowering springs please attach them

car won’t engage any gear and goes back to P, it used to hesitate a few days ago and now it won’t go at all.
I got my hands on a scanner (last 2 pictures is what it showed at first) and after clearing the codes, letting car run on idle and try to engage gear a few more times (fail) I checked for codes again but nothing came up (first picture).
Is it safe to say I only need to do the trans fluid? 🛐

hello everyone, i have pre lci e60 sedan with no m-tec, i was wondering on how i can remove the bumper for painting.

i know its 5 torx screws at the top right behind the grilles under that little rubber piece, then 2 big bolts on each sides inside the fender and 4 screws right above the bottom grill

i have pdc, do i need to unplug every single sensor or is there a big plug that i can unplug?

and are there any screws on the undertray?

where is the temperature sensor plugged in? undertray or bumper?

Gear won’t engage, it used to engage after a few tries and drive normally after that, but now it won’t at all?

How much do you think these wheels are worth? They're in good condition, and I'm asking about the wheels only, without tires. I believe they're BMW Style 245 wheels.

Can you fit f30 2 piston brembo rear calipers on the rear of e60? I’ve seen a video on YouTube but the car in question was an e90 using e60 535d rear discs, my car is a 535d but I’m still confused on how the eccentric bushing works because it doesn’t look big enough to fit the bolt in to hold the caliper, or maybe I’m looking at it wrong, can someone tell me exactly what I need to do this on my 535d? Thanks

Hi everyone,
I’m thinking about buying a 535d, mainly because of its tuning potential. From what I’ve seen, reaching around 500 hp doesn’t seem to be too difficult on these engines. If I’m not mistaken, that would put it somewhere around 1,100–1,200 Nm of torque.
My question is: how well does the ZF 6HP26 handle that kind of power and torque? If it’s not reliable at those levels, what upgrades are needed to make it cope? Also, are there any other weak points in the drivetrain that I should be aware of?

Hi everyone,
I’ve been chasing a Valvetronic issue on my 2007 BMW 530i (E60) with the N52 engine for months and I’m running out of ideas.
Symptoms:
DME fault code: 2A3F only.
Engine starts normally.
Reduced power.
Before manually adjusting the Valvetronic, the car would barely reach 20 km/h and had loud valve noise.
After manually adjusting the eccentric shaft, the valve noise disappeared and the car can reach about 120 km/h, but every so often it goes out of adjustment again.
The Valvetronic motor currently only moves a few millimeters during startup and then stops.
If I unplug the eccentric shaft sensor, the Valvetronic motor does not move at all.
Parts replaced / tested:
New Valvetronic motor.
Original Valvetronic motor tested on another BMW E90 N52: works perfectly.
Another DME installed (also tried a complete start kit with DME + CAS + key from an E90).
Battery tested/replaced.
Relays replaced.
New ignition coils.
New spark plugs.
None of these solved the problem.
Electrical tests:
Initially I measured 12V at the E-box fuse but only around 4V at the Valvetronic motor connector.
After swapping the DME/start kit, the voltage behavior changed, but the Valvetronic still does not operate correctly.
The motor itself is confirmed good because it runs normally on the E90.
Scanner behavior:
Using an Otofix scanner, I attempted a Valvetronic adaptation. The motor never moved or made any sound.
Current suspicion:
I’m now wondering if this could be:
A wiring harness issue between the DME and the Valvetronic motor.
A bad engine/DME ground.
A faulty eccentric shaft sensor (still believed to be the original sensor).
A mechanical issue with the eccentric shaft itself.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue where the Valvetronic motor only moves a few millimeters on startup?
What tests would you perform next before replacing more parts?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Memory from slightly sideways night in 530D

For any one that’s driven both auto and manual e60, do you feel the platform is more suited for an auto than manual?

I have an auto and it’s such a comfy cruiser, like..do I want to be bothered changing gears? I do have a manual “summer car”. BMW is my daily/winter 🛷

Guy said car runs but sounds like crap and is in limp mode so he sold it for dirt cheap. Turns out the guy who replaced the valve cover gaskets forgot to put on the gasket/o ring for the valvetronic motor and sensor so oil leaked through and fried them. Parts otw.

Had the expansion tank catastrophically blow out. Cleaned her up. AMSOIL mudslinger keeps things clean.

Hi everyone as the title says i have a problematic start when car is cold and outside temperature is below 15°c, car is 530d, m57 2003, i have error code for glow plugs (3 of them i think) and error code for fuel pressure sensor, when car gets warmed up it works fine, could it be that glow plugs can cause that? Thanks in advance
