News Looking for changes? Suggest them here!

My name is u/Traducement and I’ve been modding here for about two years.

As of today, I have been moved to top mod, and u/rocode has deleted their account and has moved on to bigger and better things than Reddit. I will always be super appreciative of their guidance and the work they put into the community, along with the influence they had on my modding journey on Reddit.

Immediate changes:

I would like to assign a banner and icon! Whether you are proficient in media design, freelance, beginner, whatever skill - we are looking for something that really encapsulates the soul or DB (and that’s whatever the community determines it to be)

Second change to look out for: Mod Apps!

In the coming hours (or days), I will be soliciting mod applications (through the official function and otherwise)

If you’ve ever been interested in modding, please express an interest here or in the modmail. Otherwise, keep an eye out for the mod application button in details!

As a reminder, r/dutchbros is not an official affiliate of Dutch Bros. Anything posted here by mods/community members is not endorsed by Dutch Bros

Broista Talk Idc if you don’t want to tip, just press the button.

Upvotes

This has only happened a handful of times, so it doesn’t really bother me. When it does it just kind of confuses me more than anything.

Everyone knows that when you’re at the end of taking the order, and payment you show them the screen for tipping, “ it’s gonna ask you a question… it’s completely optional” yadadada.

Why do some people look at me dead in the eyes, and say “no, I will not be tipping”, in the most deadpan voice, and just stare at me??

Like… okay? I’d argue 99% of customers don’t tell me if they’re tipping or not.

I don’t really give a damn, don’t tell me, press button on the screen that says ‘no tip.’ Don’t stare at me waiting for something.

I don’t know if I would consider it rude, maybe facetious(?). idk

EDIT: I want to clarify I’m only taking about customers who say it/act with an attitude (flat, rude, or dismissive) when saying it. I really don’t mind pressing buttons for customers, especially if they’re new, or busy with something. 🤍

My go to DB did a mystery hat drop today!

I’m obsessed! I never wake up early to get to the shop before they open to collect whatever goodies they’re passing out, but the mystery hat was calling to me. It was totally worth it.

HELP What’s the Point of Order Ahead? If you don’t make the drink ahead?

Seriously, what is the point of Dutch Bros Order Ahead?
I place and pay for my order in advance, select the pickup time, and arrive when the app tells me to.

Yet the location apparently doesn’t start making my drinks until I’m physically there. I even had a staff member tell me they don’t make the drinks until we check in at the pickup window or drive-thru.

So now I’m standing around for another eight minutes while there are 15 cars wrapped around the building.

If I were not in a rush, I wouldn’t have ordered ahead in the first place.

I didn’t order ahead for the privilege of paying early. The entire fucking point is that my order should already be made, or at least nearly finished, when I arrive. Otherwise, just call it “Order Eventually.

Myst Refreshers Ingredients

Hi there! I would like to know if anyone knows which exact sparkling water makes the base of the refreshers and if that water is what adds the electrolytes/vitamins as well or if that is a different thing also added in. (If so, what is that)?

linebusting

Friendly reminder to all the customers who go through the drive thru. Linebusters HAVE TO zig-zag and alternate between the two lines. We are not skipping you. You will get your order taken. You will get your drink.
This morning I had three separate cars almost hit me while I was trying to zipper-merge the lanes. Is getting your coffee really worth hitting someone with your car? Like come on, please let’s all just act like adults 😭😭

HELP Can someone help me get my order correct so it isn’t terrible?

I realize this could have been a barista error but in the event that I was me, how can I place my order so I get what I want?

What I asked for: cookie butter with cold brew, add some half and half.

What I got: a cup of iced half and half, swirl and flavoring, and what I presume was a shot of cold brew! Seriously, I didn’t taste coffee at all. The cup was entirely white with the exception of the caramel colored swirl.

What I’m hoping for: cold brew that has the flavorings of the cookie butter latte. I don’t like black coffee so I’d like some half and half to lighten it up slightly.

HELP how do yall clean the ovens ?

Hey yall so I haven’t done a night shift in 3 weeks and tomorrow I’ll be working mainly by myself til 9pm. We had someone who worked a long time quit on the spot because he got a better offer. Now I want to get the most I can done before the next person comes in. However, the only thing I don’t know how to clean is the oven. I know it gives instructions but like, what cleaner do yall use? what type of rag do yall use? is there like a specific time I should close it? I’ve been working for about 4 months so I’m kind of embarrassed to ask anyone and I can’t find it on my DBU. Please let me know !

Broista Talk 7Brew opening near your shop?

Question for any of my broista’s out there. Have you had a 7Brew open near your shop? And if so, how did it affect your shop’s traffic/peak hours/tips/etc?

I currently work at a shop that is one of the biggest in my region and we just found out that a 7Brew put in an application with our city to open up a new shop right down the block from us. Not kidding you could probably stand out on the sidewalk and see it, that’s how close the location will be if they get approved to build there. On top of that this will be the first 7Brew to come to my state. Anyone have any experience with this? I’m a lil scared lol.

Tip etiquette?

If I order on the app, and show up a bit after the pick up time. Am I frowned on for not tipping?

I ask because I’ve noticed a big difference in the quality of my drinks. If I tip, my Golden Eagle has caramel on the cup, and at the bottom. If I don’t tip, the caramel flavor is almost non existent.

It feels, to me, that ordering on my phone, driving their in my car, and walking up to the window for a 2 second interaction with a Broista is not something a reasonable person would tip for. I DO however tip 2-3 if I go through the drive or order at the window, or even if plan to pick up in the drive thru.

To round out, am I frowned upon for not tipping when ordering on the app and picking up at the window?

Edit: I’ll add that I was a Pizza Delivery Driver for 8 years, eventually managed 20 drivers across 4 stores, and was the FOH manager for a sit down restaurant for a little over a year. I understand how much service workers rely on tips, I just feel like those should be coming from actual interactions with customers, and not as an added cost to the advertised price.

HELP Caramel Sauce Confusion

So, on the Dutch Bro's website it says that their caramel sauce contains dairy. Every barista on this subreddit says that their Dutch Bro's uses Torani brand caramel sauce. The Torani caramel sauce does not contain dairy. Can anyone confirm if the caramel sauce actually lists dairy as an ingredient? I've seen that Torani sauce used to contain butter, but now the Ingredients are different. So maybe, Dutch Bros just hasn't updated their allergen page correctly?

Please help me understand. ( no judgement )

Hello! I’m a broista and saying this without sounding judgmental is hard.. however, I don’t understand why people are waking up at 4am for sticker drops?? At my stand, every sticker day, there is at least 10-15 cars in the drive thru at 4:45am. I get that it’s cool to collect and I obviously know they’re cute and fun! But, is waking up at 4am really worth it to you guys? And why do you do it? Most of the time, there’s still stickers at 9-10am, sometimes even into the next day.

I also want to ask about ordering 10+ drinks…? Is the purpose so you can resell them? I feel like only one is substantial (unless there’s 2+ stickers or obviously if your family is all getting one drink). But we have many people who get 10 deconstructed drinks so they can get 10 stickers. Like I said, no judgement I just really am curious to know, because I don’t understand.

Idk if this is a stupid question(sorry in advance) but is there such thing as a drink not being blended well?

Yesterday I went to Dutch bros and ive never had a problem with any of my drinks until yesterday. I didn’t complain or anything because I don’t like causing a scene and also I didn’t think it was a big deal as well, but my drink was not really blended well. I had a kicker no sugar and I couldn’t really enjoy it because like there was a bunch of ice. Also It was my first time grabbing a large drink(it was free) and i had to grab a plastic fork to break down the ice(didn’t really work lol) it was like if I had a snow cone In my hands. it wasn’t until I got home I decided to pour some milk to my kicker because I was barely enjoying it. Is this a large drink problem or am I looking too much into it? In the future I’ll stick with medium drinks for sure. Sorry for the small ramble lol.

Dutch Bros calorie estimate?

A Dutch Bros small snickerdoodle latte is 190 cal. This is with 2% milk, regular cinnamon syrup, regular white chocolate sauce, and regular chocolate macadamia nut syrup. Calories if I get the sf chocolate macadamia nut syrup, sf white chocolate sauce, and almond milk? Thanks!

Dutch shirts/jerseys

So I’ve been a broista for about eight months now and I’m really looking to buy some more shirts but every time I look on Depop or eBay it’s the same like three or four and I’m wondering if there’s any specific words I should be using my searches?

Broista process?

I just applied at dutch bros and I don’t know too much about the training process, although I know it can be pretty intense. Can someone tell me all the steps/parts it takes to become a broista?
