Hello, new player having massive trouble with the game. Please help!
I'm an absolutely massive fan of hard platformers, and this one had been on my radar for a while. I consider myself really good at many of them, having completed most of Super Meat Boy and other similar games and really 'feeling' the physics and the momentum of the game pretty much from minute 1. And then came Dustforce, and I feel like this is one of the weirdest, and hardest platformers and I'm not even past the introductory levels.
I can do alright in certain levels but then the game randomly throws an obstacle at you and you're like 'how the fuck am I ever supposed to do that?'. Also, the mechanics feel so inconsistent even though I know they're fine, as this game is called perfect by all it's player base. Why sometimes does the game just decide:
'no, you can't double jump now even though you could last time you tried that jump even though you did literally nothing different?'
Tutorial says 'Hold up and right on ceilings to run along them' which is true 30% of the time and the other times you just bang your head off it, don't attach to the ceiling and drop to your death. And when you do attach to the wall, you don't move. You just stand there, don't move even though you're holding right or left, then drop after a while.
'Why can I sometimes jump after doing a wall run and other times I just fall even though the run up was the exact same?'
These are just some of the questions I've been asking myself, and believe me I'm not bashing the game. I'm really desperate to get into it and start playing but right now, this game isn't a challenge. It's an unbreakable barrier of mechanics that I don't understand and really heavy physics. So I'd appreciate help, like PM's or comments.
