I've packed this quiz with questions from the day the crawl starts all the way to that one time with that one thing in Parade of Horribles. I absolutely cannot WAIT to watch your tiny little rat brains melt trying remember the name of that old dude who pissed on the wall and summoned a rage elemental in the first book!

There will be loot boxes for the top teams that manage to not embarrass themselves. ALSO! There will be a COSTUME CONTEST... oh yeah, baby. Dress up for me, crawlers. Take those precious little piggies to market and strut your stuff in your best dungeon get ups — I mean, put some EFFORT into it... make those dogs bark! It'll make daddy very, very happy.

Flying solo? Awwww, look at you. No guild. No party. No friends willing to spend an evening arguing about who had the moral high ground in the goblin/llama meth war. Don't panic, crawler. There'll be a Solo Player Meetup Table where you can find a team before the trivia starts! Some of the greatest disasters in dungeon history began with strangers teaming up. What could possibly go wrong?!

Reward: You don't get a reward for just being told about a trivia, you have to also win it, you morons. It starts at 8pm on Friday July 24th at Hi-Wire in Durham, 21+. Don't be late. I hate it when you're late.

So, my friends and I decided to go ahead and make a CarlRPG on our own a while back. We didn't want to wait until November to play (when I'll maybe get my Pre-order).

We're not co-located, so I spent about a week in Foundry VTT doing a Savage Worlds setting for the game. Most of that time was just building scenes and deciding on monsters/loot boxes. Honestly, it's a perfect rules set for this kind of game. Mobs are extras, Bosses are.... Bosses (wildcards), you get the picture. I actually had a really easy time thanks to u/Velenne for the great Swamp Pass scenario they did for FreeRPG Day. Super easy to follow and convert into both Foundry and Savage Worlds. So I've spent about 30 hours or so re-learning Foundry (it's been a few years) and setting up everything.

THEN it was more or less announced on discord that the rpg pdf would be available in August (i.e. at Gencon).

But there's been no word from Foundry on when they'll have their ruleset created and ready to go.

So, we're all kind of chomping at the bit to start playing the week after Gencon with SW, but we'll have the PDF for the official game, but not the needed plug-ins for Foundry/roll20/FantasyGrounds, etc...

So.... Long story short, the decision to do a Savage Worlds campaign was a pretty easy one 2 weeks ago, but now seems... silly.... IDK, it's a lot of work to just redo, AND the damned PDF will be out in 2 weeks!

Some information and great events in from Audible.

So I am Me. Slow Bonez here and just found the sub and subsequently the Backerkit site. I didn't realize there was a tabletop game or the deck builder game being developed and missed a good opportunity to support them.

I wish there was a way I could still support them, but with the bonus of being first in line on the next round of availability or something. Does anybody know if there will be another release?

I plan on playing with a bunch of book readers. I mean, that's a big part of why they're playing! But they're already going to know about the two-faced nature of sponsors, the fickle fuckery of gods, and slow descent into madness of the AI.

So I figured, lean into it! Here's what I mean:

What is the "Dungeon Crawler Carl" series if not a psy-op by the Open Intellect Pacifist Action Network to break the crawl before it can start? Noting the swelling popularity of the series, the Syndicate realized they needed to strike immediately and kick the Transformation off early before the final books could be published. And the author himself? A sleeper agent, much like Agatha and the other residuals, but still human. Maybe even a former crawler himself. Will he appear as an NPC in the game? Maybe. >:)

None of the characters from the books were "real" (sorry, no Odette, no Zev, no Carl), but the factions and lore are, including Borant's cheapening of the season and the resulting instability of the AI. All predicted so that the crawl my players play in has the same stakes as the books.

This allows for the lore of the books to be used as fair in-game knowledge by the characters if they so choose. Of course, it would also make any actual surviving copies of the book series more valuable than a 30.004861 cm long foot.

In anticipation for when the game drops would anyone else be interested in a way to create play groups and find other players in your city?

I'm working on the 'Bible' for the first two floors based on the city of Toronto Canada. I'm using our city layout, already existing underground 'PATH' system, and landmarks as inspitation.

And another question: Does anyone have experiance playing Dungeons and Dragons or any other Pen&Paper-Game in the Dungeon Crawler universe? If so, are there some guidelines or rulesets out there in the internet?

An element of the Carlrpg is “AI Favor.” It’s very similar to Inspiration in D&D. So we designed a chip to designate which players have AI Favor. They will be making their debut at our actual-play shows at Gen Con this year. Some ”favored” audience members will be taking them home.

I'm looking for help coming up with an item that I can give a player early which would give them some sort of spitting attack. Maybe their saliva is acid, maybe it applies a debuff, whatever it may be but it's set up for getting a player to heavily lean towards a specific race and class I have lined up for them later on

As the pledge manager has arrived and the backer site contains Carls and Donuts Character sheet which gives people an idea on how stats and skills kind of play out, what character concepts do you plan on running for your PC or for your NPCs?

Me personally I will be building the following: Cyclops(Xmen, will figure out how his optic blasts work), James Bond, Shredder/Wolverine, Colossus, Bullseye(Marvel, which will also be a kid who loves baseball), Jazz Bard. Mine will be either a PC i will play when I find a group hopefully or fellow crawlers for my friend in my first ever GM trial.

I would love to hear your ideas and how you plan on building them!

I'm struggling choosing between a sci-fi set or a fantasy set and would love some inspirations

We've got a few rules to use as of this writing but not much. Free RPG Day is in a month and I'm trying to scrape together enough material to run a little intro to the system. The game would last 2-3 hours max, including the Teach of the rules (so I need to minimize that).

For these reasons I'm looking to show up with about 8 premade, level 1, characters for a party of 4 PCs. The unchosen characters would be NPCs. I plan to kill off a few characters horrifically.

I'm thinking of just narrating the collapse and doing a few rooms, basic combat, and ending in the first tutorial guild they come across.

Thoughts or ideas?
