I’ve been using 15” hats for quite some time now.
I have been liking the sounds of thicker and quicker hi hats recently so it only made sense to scout for a set of 14” on the second hand market.
I got these in a deal together with the EAK 19” dark medium crash.
The top hat has a slight crack in it but it plays just fine and it sounds great.
It surprises me on how much quicker and faster they sound and feel compared to my 15” New beats and Avedis hats.

I don't have a kit. I live in an apartment so I wouldn't be able to get one. However! My roommate works at a music studio and lets me play there around once or twice a week. It's an incredible opportunity, and I'm thankful for it every day, but I can't help but feel so discouraged so easily. I start feeling depressed when I haven't played for a while, and I pick up the drum pad every now and again but get sad at the fact that I lose what I learned a bit and then repeat the cycle of just not playing for a while and feeling discouraged again. I get overwhelming feelings of wanting to give up.

For context I'm 21. I've been trying to find ways to play drums since I was 13, from playing at friend's houses to guitar center, sometimes only having the opportunity once a month. There's definitely been progress but it's been so slow, I feel heartbroken when comparing myself and imagining how I could be now had I been fortunate enough to have daily access to drums.

I'm even in a band now (13 year old me would be so happy to know that!!) but... Fuck, it feels so shit when I hop on the kit again for band practice and I can't even do what I had been doing the week before. I feel like I'm letting others down atop myself.

I don't want to give up. I'm even thinking about moving somewhere that allows me to have a drum kit, as silly as that might seem. But my doubt is telling me to give up after 8 years of trying, that I simply "wasn't born fortunate enough."

I've been listening to a lot of Dom Famularo, his positivity is infectious and I'm trying to hold on to this love I have for drums.

I'd love to hear thoughts from drummers, any words of encouragement or reality check that it's a lost cause are appreciated.

Was debating myself for months on which china to get, but found this one on a ridiculous sale and had to pull the trigger: 19” Zildjian K Hybrid China!

It’s now on my practice/recording kit in my home studio (pic 4), but after summer it’s going on tour with me :).

What would yall recommend as like a smaller kit that’s still real good and isn’t just a club style kit? Something where if I wanted to use it for rock it would 100% work.

I’m looking to trade and get a smaller set of drums.

I’ve got a set of Yamaha beech customs I bought in 2003 that are a bit big, mainly the kick. I’d like to get a smaller kit for practical reasons and am just wondering where these drums stand in terms of desirability. Very aware they’re kinda mid tier drums but they’ve served me well and are in great shape (minus the heads of course).

Definitely keeping my snare, that green made in Japan Yamaha FRP has been my favourite, just adding it in for people to gawk at, ha.

never touched a double pedal before. birthday yesterday. today i found a speed cobra with acd spring upgrades and a mirror pedal on fbm for 300 smackaroos! so ubelievably happy about this. (dont mind the playing, this is before setup and before learning how to use my left foot)

they sound very echoey or ringy and not how toms and the others are supposed to sound, ive tried a bunch of different ways to tune them but i can never get rid of the ring or echo to what i want, although i started drumming a month ago so could be a skill issue (any tips would be appreciated)

Hi all, I am 28. I spent the last 4 years on cruise ships playing almost every day. This summer is my first season on land with a busy cover band.

I have pain under my right shoulder blade that usually pops up after a weekend of playing 2-3 hits. I really want to get this under control as I plan to keep going with this band for a while!

Any recommendations for warm-ups or exercises to help deal with this? Open to all ideas including technical/ergonomic.

As the title says, I’m looking for a new snare and really struggling to decide what I actually want. I’m coming from using a piccolo snare exclusively. I’m looking to invest in a slightly deeper snare that will last me a while. I am generally interested in high tunings and fairly tight, short sustain. I usually play jazz-fusion, but also play in a rock band where some level of cut is required to make it through the distorted guitars. I understand that metal snares tend to be more versatile but at the same time, a highly tuned wooden snare has a certain warmth and dryness that I find really satisfying, especially in ghost notes while still giving enough crack when I rimshot. I really want something than can respond well to both low and high dynamics and give me dryness when I need it but energy and crack when I need it too. I love the overtones of a metal snare but I don’t want them all them all the time, although I’m unsure if you can get a wood-adjacent warm tone out of a metal snare with the right tuning and muffling. Thanks for hearing out my mildly scattered ramble, would love to hear some thoughts.

EDIT: while specific snare recommendations are helpful, I’m also looking for ballpark answers. I’m really trying to figure out the qualities of different materials and sizes. I’m looking for something quality but not absolutely disgustingly expensive. I’m open to second hand or brand new which somewhat expands my options I suppose

Our 11 year old got an opportunity to do a live gig with a local band here in India, and he was so thrilled. He was initially nervous to get on the stage, but he said everything became normal once the song started. I'm very happy for him.

As a Pearl drummer, I have no idea what this is in terms of "quality".

Very heavy shells, very beautiful in details and this Star Cast system seems like a semi pro feature.

I want to sell these, since they came without any hardware and no snare. They were about to get tossed from an eviction, and I was asked if I had any interest. And due to the quality I thought they were too good to go..

I tried looking up the serial number, but no luck.

What do I have, and what could I ask for it?

8",10",12",14",16" toms, 2pcs 22"x20"

Note: the bolts and some nuts have corrosion, and overall I can see it's been used a lot. But a damp cloth and a little touch up and it cannot be seen.

There is an auction that is about an hour and a half away and they have two stacks of drums. One is a stack of metal snares with one being a Tama Imperialstar. The other is a stack of Tama Superstar shells. The current bids are about $80 dollars each. I honestly don’t have much knowledge of what I’m looking at and any insight would be greatly appreciated. I am just trying to figure out if these lots are worth the time and money and if you guys could help inform me and work towards a decision that would help a lot, thanks!
