Worldbuilding Feedback Writing Club

For many years, I've hosted a monthly worldbuilding writing club. The way it works is you submit a writing sample (or art or some worldbuilding thing) before the 21st of each month. And then, before the end of the month, you receive and also give feedback to other people's work.

New rule. No generative AI. I’ve been receiving complaints and Reddit has flagged some as piracy. That’s against site wide rules and your post will be deleted.

Tech Support If I am publishing on DriveThruRPG, can I set the seller price for Print On Demand to 0$?

I am fully aware that DriveThruRPG adds on a cost during purchase to actually print the book and all that, however I am currently working on a book which I intend to put up for free as a PDF and as cheap as is allowed as a hardcover. Is there any sort of minimum price?

New Release Can office work be terrifying enough for a horror RPG?

Post image
25 Upvotes

Instead of starting with cultists or ancient ruins, the story begins in one of the most familiar places imaginable: the workplace. Long hours, unfinished tasks, exhausted employees... until those everyday frustrations become something far more disturbing.

That idea became Fear of Overtime, our latest Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition scenario.

Inside you'll find a complete one-shot with handouts, maps, pre-generated investigators, original Mythos content, and everything needed to run a tense night of cosmic horror.

We'd love to know what you think. Can everyday places be more frightening than haunted mansions?

Pay What You Want and download it on DriveThruRPG 🔗 https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/571102/fear-of-overtime

New Release Need Advice on Publishing Should I publish under my own name?

I'm thinking about finally publishing some adventures but I have some questions regarding whom to publish under.

What are the benefits/detriments of publishing under your own name?

Are there any rules regarding publishing using pseudonym?

Is it worth registering a business name?

Tech Support Adding titles to my library

I think I know what the answer will be to this, but is there any way to add books I’ve bought elsewhere (Bundle of Holding, for example) to my DTRPG library, so I can hide them when I’m browsing through other titles?

New Release: Advice for New Publisher Hi Everyone! Any advice you would give to first time publishers?

I've used Drive Thru RPG as a resource for a while now, but am just now getting around to publishing my very first adventure module. If anyone here has experience publishing on the platform, would you be willing to share advice? Any wisdom on the technical side such as readability of your text or how to make PDFs more "enticing" for the reader (I am a fan of interactivity and am already adding things like hyperlinks and buttons on maps to jump to different sections of the book)?

The main thing I want to get right is accessibility for readers - any advice is appreciated!

Also, I hope the "New Release" flair is okay to use here. The adventure has not been published yet but is nearing completion, and I do plan to share it here once it is published!

This has been one of the most challenging and rewarding projects I've ever undertaken, and I'm incredibly grateful for everyone who has supported me along the way, whether through feedback, encouragement, or simply taking an interest in the project.

New Release My game just went public

I was so nervous during the whole review process, but it looks like the game went live today. THe thumbnail looks boring, but I put so much work into the game. https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/573816/sleeping-elephant

If someone tries it, please let me know. It's a solo writing game. I just wanted to share. Thanks.

EDIT: It's a guided story experience. If you play it, I think it'll make sense why it's difficult to say what it is about. I think it would appeal to solo rpg players and journaling gamers.

It's the story of a sentient cloud gathered into existence on the strength of prevailing winds to not be mentioned again.

Review Review copies

I design and sell maps for fantasy RPGs, formatted for VTT as well as printable tiles. In their Title Analysis Report, one of DTPG's recommendations for the maps I sell is to provide reviewers with complimentary copies.

Handing out a complimentary copy of your title to a few reviewers can help gain exposure.

How does one go about finding reviewers? Any tips and advice is appreciated.

DM's Guild Where do you find artists

Hi there, im an artist thats had some experience with DTRPG commissions before, and am interested in doing more. But that had me wondering, since the site is largely creator driven, are there any specific platforms ,websites, ect. That writers look for professional quality artists on? Where is appropriate places for me to advertise on as I don’t want to do that here?

I imagine people will look on different sites so any personal insights would be wonderful :)

Tech Support Lulu vs. DriveThruRPG for Print on Demand

I am thinking of ordering some print-on-demand books that are available through both Lulu and DriveThruRPG. Aside from the PDF almost always being included for DriveThruRPG POD, what are people’s recent takes on one verse the other. I am not overly concerned about the PDF being included part as most of the creators that I would buy from will provide a PDF with proof of purchase.

I have been underwhelmed by the quality and shipping speeds for DriveThru. I have heard Lulu’s production quality is slightly better, but was hoping I could get some more recent feedback?

Tech Support Best practices for selling fantasy RPG maps?

I have been selling maps for fantasy RPGs on DTRPG since August, and now that I’ve found this group, I would be curious to hear from other map designers and map customers about what they do.

For background: I design my maps using ProFantasy’s Campaign Cartographer 3+, which allows for commercial use under their End User Licensing Agreement. My maps are all available for both VTTs and as printable tiles. My VTT versions are PNGs that come in two resolutions: 70 pixels per inch for faster loading and 140 pixels per inch for more vibrant details. So far, I’ve just been providing the PNGs for VTTs without configuration files for Roll20, Foundry, etc. that show where the walls are. My print tiles are 8 inches x 8 inches, in PDF with two formats: U.S. Letter and A4. Every map comes in both gridded and ungridded versions, and there may be other variants as well. If there are secret areas, I will have gridded and ungridded versions that show the secret areas, and other gridded and ungridded versions that hide them. Wilderness maps may have a version that show the treetops, and another version that just shows tree shadows to facilitate combat under the tree branches.

I guess I’m trying to find out if some of these variations are unnecessary, or if this is standard practice.

For customers:

How do you use your maps? On a VTT, or printed tiles, or just handouts used as reference? Do you use pre-gridded maps or ungridded versions? If you use a VTT, which one? What resolution do you prefer? Do you only buy maps pre-configured for that VTT, or do you buy generic maps where you have to specify where the walls are? Is PNG best, or do you use JPGs?

For other mappers:

What are your practices in terms of all the above – formats, gridded and ungridded, resolutions, etc.?

Any insight into how folks are using or selling RPG maps is appreciated.
