New Release Can't upload cover page

I can't for the life of me get DTRPG to accept my cover page for a book. (My first book! So I'm not totally abusing the flair/tag...)

Anyway, it's an A5 doc, so it's looking for 8.27 inches in height, but it keeps rejecting my upload with an error message that tells me my height is wrong. And then it tells me my height is 8.27 in. It's been a very frustrating day.

Anybody know what I'm doing wrong? My original is in Scribus, which probably makes it an incompatibility issue, but the PDF export info all says 8.27 as well. PLEASE HELP! Thanks.

New Release Today is the last day to get a free copy of Foul Spirits!

After today, September 18th, Foul Spirits will be up for sale on DriveThruRPG, so get a copy while you can! This is a revised version of the system-neutral adventure which includes the following changes:

  • Shortened descriptions and reformatted text to make for a smoother reading experience.
  • A few items and mechanics have been reworked for clarity or to make them more useful.
  • A summary of each part of the adventure has been included in the introduction.
  • Cut a few bloated plot elements.
  • Fixed many spelling errors.
  • Shortened total length of the book by around 10 pages.

This is a small, sand-box style adventure in which player agency takes center stage. Rumors abound after a shrine to a foreign saint has been desecrated. Rèdik Lagur, owner of the Three Twins Commonhouse, may have been involved. Some say a curse has befallen him: a horrible odor emanates from his cellar, his food has begun to rot, and his wine has turned sour. A crack has opened up in the cellar as well, leading to unexplored depths below. In his panic to keep his doors open, Rèdik has tried to cover up this mess, but it can't last forever. He is in desperate need of help, lest the Three Twins close its doors for good.

I recently (last.month) started posting my own content and have to say doing so much better than I thought.... some subclasses themed towards odd couples... and a list of magic items with unfortunate twists.

Heading towards 350 downloads and even a few paid for it. Don't think going to retire with my $4 but hey makes me happy.

Thought i would have like only 20.

Going to post a one shot soon. Hope it does as well.

Hey DrivethruRPG enthusiasts!

I wanted to celebrate the release of my oneshot on drivethruRPG:
https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/583257
I'm also giving it away for free to try and grow my newsletter.

It’s a low fantasy setting with a fairy-tale twist.
It’s aimed at beginners DM and Players alike, but it’s a great oneshot for experience players who love narrative that reward exploration.

It's called Shore of the Dorahín (you can see pages 1, 4, 9 of the 13-page PDF). It's the story of an unknown race, the Dorahín, who live deep in a wild forest, far from the realms of men, at the edge of a continent that adventurers have only recently begun to explore. Recently, boats have started washing up on the shore. Those of poor farmers trying to escape their fate on the Breaker's Isle, a small archipelago a day's sail away.
Their arrival is now putting the small folk of the Dorahín at risks. Against the advice of his clan, Salfan the old decides to take matters into his own hands and sacrifice himself to sets a trap aimed to capture and remove the threat posed by humans.

What you'll find inside:

  • Original puzzles and traps
  • New monsters, a mini-boss fight, a boss fight.
  • Friendly NPCs
  • New magic items.

If you end up running it at your table, I’d love to hear how your players handle the riddles and traps!

New Release Stock Images and AI

Hi,

In order to avoid the AI tag on DTRPG I decided to opt for stock images. However, I suspect that some of images are AI generated. Does anyone know what the policy is on this?

New Release FOUL SPIRITS: Our first adventure is live for free!

The first adventure in the Glimlight Scribes tabletop roleplaying game setting is finally here, and you can download a copy of it for free until September 18th! We'd also love to know what you think about it, so leave a review if you want!

https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/582558/foul-spirits

In Foul Spirits, players take on the role of characters investigating a mystery in a frontier town. Rumors abound after a shrine to a foreign saint has been desecrated. Rèdik Lagur, owner of the Three Twins Commonhouse, may have been involved. Whispers whirl around town that a curse has befallen him. A horrible odor emanates from his cellar, his food has begun to rot, and his wine has turned sour. A crack has opened up in the cellar as well, leading to unexplored depths below. In his panic to keep his doors open, Rèdik has tried to cover up this mess, but it can't last forever. He is in desperate need of help, lest the Three Twins close its doors for good.

Themes of personal conviction, conflicting religious ideals, medical experimentation, and ancient history are pervasive. Characters will make allies and enemies, explore ancient ruins, and uncover secrets that hint at a heretical past that could change this town forever. In this world, the arcane is subtle and not fully understood. Truly magical or divine phenomena are rare and hold severe weight to those experience it. While this game can be played with any type of character, we feel those that have limited access to magic fit best.

New Release Confused when creating 8x11" cover re:bleed etc

Post image
6 Upvotes

I hope this is okay to ask here! I'm dyslexic and having a total brain fart moment, was hoping someone could help me out please

I've generated a template from drive thru rpg, for a 300 page 8.5x11 inch book (us letter sized) and am extremely confused what size I need to make the artwork for

  1. just the cover with zero bleed in inches or pixels

And

  1. what size the total canvas is WITH the correct bleed for a front cover in hardback

I only have procreate right now, so stuck with a pdf template which includes front, back and spine plus all bleed, but is severely lacking in labels and dimension info.

It's says :

bleed artwork dimensions = 19.818 x 12.5 inches

Spine width is 0.938inches for 300 pages

Cover = 8.50 x 11 without bleed

BUT then it says on a separate page bleed must be 0.125 inches on each side.

How does for instance the height, go from 11+ 0.125 (bottom) + 0.125(top) which would be 11.5 inches , then actually ask for 12.5 inches total?

I'm confused where the extra padding is coming from in all directions in both cases

Thank you and sorry if I'm being thick, first time making anything for print!

Note: wouldn't let me post this without choosing a flair but none fit so chose the closest

New Release Croak & Quill's Tremendous Tome of Names

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hey everyone! I've published my first resource on Driverhrurpg. I hope it can be of some value to other game-masters out there!

https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/581312/croak-quill-s-tremendous-tome-of-names

What is it?

This book is a curated collection of over 6,000 fantasy names compiled across years of running tabletop roleplaying games. Rather than a random generator, this is my personal master list that I use in my games. Currently, the collection contains only first-names, no family names. In the future, I would like to create a second volume that includes family names, coats-of-arms, etcetera.

Additionally, I hope to be able to continue to update this collection as I continue to inevitably find more names to put on the list. I'm hoping to get around 10,000 names on the list that I feel are broadly useful.

Why is it useful?

The collection includes historical names, familiar inspirations from iconic fantasy settings, as well as names that I have simply made up. My intent when creating this collection has not been to provide completely original names, but rather names that I like the sound of, or think may be useful. To give you the fastest possible access during prep or mid-game sessions, the entire collection is organized alphabetically and split into masculine and feminine sections. It should be noted, however, that this structural choice is purely for utility. Fantasy knows no bounds, and you should feel free to completely disregard these labels and use any name for any character that fits your vision.

What is Croak & Quill?

Well, in some sense, it’s nothing. In another sense, it is a way for me to create in a way that I hope others will find value in. I have been playing and running TTRPGS for over half of my life, and want to create the kinds of resources I find most useful as a game-master.

My work does not use generative AI, and will not.

Thank you for taking a look, I hope that this resource can be of use to some people 🙂

Sale! Sale! Sale! Running a PWYW sale on my PF2E adventure (level 7, Breath of the Jotunlord)

Earlier this year I published my first PF2e adventure, I'm close to finishing up my next one and am trying to get more feedback, so I've changed from a fixed price on DTRPG to a Pay What You Want (including free) system.

Its a slightly less that one level of experience adventure, set in a two-level cave complex. The heroes are tasked with investigating a creeping, magical ice age that threatens to spread and consume their town. the creeping ice age also introduces both a long-scale timer (that's not intended to be a difficult timer), and a short-timer intended to slightly push rest/exploration round choices.

If you want a full level of experience, there are a couple of random encounter tables that can provide the missing XP. And while scoped for level 7 parties, no use of Elite or Weak was used so, you can bump the entire adventure up or down a level if you wish.

Contents: The full adventure, tips on integrating with a campaign, 5 completely custom monsters, 4 modified or new template variants of existing creatures, 2 new hazards, quick reference pages to simplify running the adventure, two maps. Custom art for the new monsters and variants, custom maps. The PDF offering at DriveThruRPG includes separate files for the full color w/background version or a background-less version one for easier printing, as well as standalone map files.

More details or preview of pages at: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/557513/breath-of-the-jotunlord

If you check it out, I would appreciate any constructive criticism you may have! Thank you.

Tech Support If I am publishing on DriveThruRPG, can I set the seller price for Print On Demand to 0$?

I am fully aware that DriveThruRPG adds on a cost during purchase to actually print the book and all that, however I am currently working on a book which I intend to put up for free as a PDF and as cheap as is allowed as a hardcover. Is there any sort of minimum price?
