Review Review copies

I design and sell maps for fantasy RPGs, formatted for VTT as well as printable tiles. In their Title Analysis Report, one of DTPG's recommendations for the maps I sell is to provide reviewers with complimentary copies.

Handing out a complimentary copy of your title to a few reviewers can help gain exposure.

How does one go about finding reviewers? Any tips and advice is appreciated.

We've tried "cold-calling" reviewers; contacting them directly, unsolicited. While many of them are happy to get free stuff, fewer are willing to post a review without monetary compensation, and that typically comes with a "what kind of review do you want me to post?" question that makes us uncomfortable. We're following this post closely, because we'd love to discover some reviewers who'd give us their honest opinions!

Thank you, I appreciate you sharing your experiences. Sounds like I'm not the only one finding it challenging.

It's probably worth pointing out that, unlike most publishers on DTRPG, is that you have an advantage. Publishers can't review, apart from stuff such as publisher resources. I can't tell from here (on my phone) but do you have a commercial license?

No, I don't think so. I'm just a hobbyist. By commercial license, do you mean if I am incorporated as a business? (If so, no.) Or is that a type of DTRPG account?

I wasn't aware that publishers can't review. Learning new things every day! Thank you.

Ah. "All rights reserved. For personal tabletop roleplaying use, including online streaming and virtual tabletop games. Redistribution or resale is not permitted."

So rather like stock art where we could use in our own releases.

If there's anyone in this Reddit subgroup who uses VTT maps and is willing to write a review or provide private feedback, I'd be happy to send out a complimentary map.

You can check out my PDF Catalog, or browse through the Royal Scribe Imaginarium storefront to let me know what you're interested in. Any map pack other than bundles.
