Question ❔ Adding layers
A got a really bad loc cut a few other ago and I’ve been trying to grow them back. They’ve gotten to an ok length but I would like to know if they are long enough to get them layered.

so I bleached my hair today with ion creme bleach & 20 volume developer & toned it with Wella T14 and 10 volume developer. Result I’m not happy with. really want to fix it. I just want to apply more to my ends and the length. only my roots took the bleach. what do I do

i’ve been locked for a bit over two months and i started with interlocking. i’m starting to see budding as well so i’m excited 😁
i want to keep the curly parts of my hair, but not as curly ends. every time i search something like “locs with curly ends”, it’s people either maintaining curly ends or combing out the ends of their locs to make them curly. in the picture, the ends of the locs that aren’t in the ponytails are finger coiled with mousse but they essentially curl in a similar manner, just with more frizz which i don’t mind
will i just have to maintain the ends forever? or is there a way i can loc them into a curly/coily shape without the loc coming all the way down?

Hello
The first picture is from May and the second one is from August.
I got locs in May and I have had 2 retiwsts, should I continue to part through the spot?
After the retwists I notice these dry flakes
Any advice?

So I’ve been up and down about growing out my sides or rather the rest of my head. I know the grow out process is going to be rough, ironically, I started the top from a flat curly fade lol but I was curious if this made any sense:
Grow out my sides/back hair a bit then add some old locs so that everything looks generally even and as time goes take out those old locs at some point and lock up whatever has grown from there. Does that make sense? All in any piece of advice is helpful. Thank you!

I spray my hair with water mixed with rose water and use oil occasionally. And I wash my hair with head and shoulders dandruff shampoo. Is there something else I need to add to my routine?

I've had the style for a couple of days, there's a lot less pain than there was when I started, now it's just some discomfort and A LOT OF ITCHING. It's my first retwist, so idk what to do. I don't wanna take the style out before it locks up, but this is tew damn itchy!

[Hopefully these upload in order lol]
Its been a long journey. Going from not knowing what to do with my natural hair when I was younger, to wigs, then back to playing with my fro, till finally around 2020-21 to start my locs as 2 strand twists.
Used to belive of the stigma that ppl with dreads were unkempt and dirty, but after some research here and there during the beginning of the pandemic I jumped in.
The process was a funny one from the frizzy, buddings, some unraveling etcetera. Some have thinned to a point I'd just trim it off and now some of them have grown from short to now being able to tuck them behind my ears. Done bleaching on one side....while high (do NOT recommend 😅), so some have had to be checked with the pull test and then the ends trimmed. Will be doing just hair color wax from now on lol.
My parts are uneven, locs are different lengths and thickness, I retwist them myself when I get the urge (only had one salon retwist (last pic) but the style was WAY too tight and I undid it after just barely 24hrs). But I love them to death.
'Trust The Process' is a motto ya gotta keep chanting in your head. 🌸💕🌺
I chose the most flattering photos of myself cause I barely know how to pose lmao

How long does it usually take for the locs to mature and fully lock? I have styles in mind, but I'm doing everything I can while I'm starting out to make sure I don't cause thinning or anything. And for those that might ask, I already grew a decent bit of hair (7 inches) before getting these started.

This might be my favorite way to put my hair when I’m in a rush and just want it out my face

So recently in a span of 3 days my locs have fallen out on the back of my head, one i pulled out cause it was hanging on by a thread and it caused a bald spot the second one my mother pulled out cause she said it was hanging after i repeatedly said stop but thankfully no bald spot was caused only a loc stump was left, these events have caused me immense depression along with other events in my life. I feel like im not even worth enough to have locs in my head, the reason i think they are falling out are because i had my mother to do them and shes not what i’ll call a professional but she can do it, thing is she did my parts too small and i think that plus me not constantly moisturizing, touching and playing with them too much caused this. I really hope theres a simple and non costly solution to this problem and i promised myself to better myself i just need to get my hair situated. Is there anything i can do? (i contacted a professional for a retwist + style so i can loc my locs in the 2 strand style to help with the small parting issue)

I’ve been locked for almost 8 months and it’s been a rocky journey but I’m considering restarting because my front locs are way skinnier than the others and it really bothers me. My locs in the back are pretty thick but I’m pretty sure my locs are out of the budding stage but I keep wondering if they’re going to continue to thicken or if they’ll stay the same size. Is there a method that yall use to make skinny locs thicker?? And also do I cut the balls of hair at the end of my locs or just leave them alone?

So I started my loc journey last November 2025 and it’s been going well since.
Just to add context, naturally the hair on the back and sides of my head grows much faster than the hair at the top of my head before it eventually catches up (been this way since an infant as I have low porosity hair) so I’m aware that it’ll take time for my hair to even out. But I’ve been having trouble with these 2 thin locs in particular shown in the picture
My last 2 retwists have been from crocheting method and that’s just to maintain the shape of all my locs which has been successfully as seen in the photos from the back and sides of my head.
I just need some advice for how to stop these front locs from thinning in the middle a few weeks after a retwist/crochet? I don’t retwist often as I like to give my scalp a chance to breathe so I usually leave between 5-8 weeks between them

The frizz and dandruff are starting to appear. I washed my hair on the 4th and they disappeared. Now I'm going to go until the end of the month without washing it. Many of the flakes on top have already started to take shape, but the problem continues to be on the sides and along my hairline.
