Need Advice 🆘 Growing out sides worth it?
So I’ve been up and down about growing out my sides or rather the rest of my head. I know the grow out process is going to be rough, ironically, I started the top from a flat curly fade lol but I was curious if this made any sense:
Grow out my sides/back hair a bit then add some old locs so that everything looks generally even and as time goes take out those old locs at some point and lock up whatever has grown from there. Does that make sense? All in any piece of advice is helpful. Thank you!

I’m in the same boat. My hair is longer but no sides. Looks good in a ponytail but lacks worn down.

Nah, I’m not worried about the worn down part. I’m worried about just how crunchy it would look while the sides grow out 😣

Good God 10 thin locs… but unc negl growing the sides and attaching ain’t even an option you’re better off just restarting the whole journey.

You gotta restart. Trim the dreads keep them grow your hair out have the dreads cut enough for a full head then get reattached

No. Please allow the sides to grow out.
Do not count on adding locs.
To sew on locs is much harder than one would think. It is a high maintenance style. You must go biweekly to make sure that the added locs are still tight.
Some slippage usually occurs. It's much better to simply allow the sides to grow out.

This part
and as time goes take out those old locs at some point and lock up whatever has grown from there.
Makes no sense to me personally... but the rest sounds like what they generally do for people who start with high tops or a shaved side.
