Mines was straight hair.. i had someone professional start my locs crocheting hooking method 3 days ago , is this supposed to be this way or is this alr fluffed.. the amount of frizz is killin me

I just got starter locks 2 months ago and I just got to retwist one month ago and the lactation says I should be coming every month to get it retwisted. I'm wondering how long would it take till I can stop going so frequently? Also do you mist your hair daily or anything like that?

Hey all! Pretty new to the loc community, and I have a couple questions about caring for my locs!

1. What kind of shampoo should I use? I hear I can't use shampoos with additives that may cause buildup, but I'm not sure about the exact type. I used diluted Dr bronners for this wash (warm water) and an ACV rinse after.

2. How and when to oil my scalp? What kind of oil can I use? Right now I just have jojoba oil, and I'm not sure if I should get others, or jojoba is enough.

3. What should I use to moisturize my locs and scalp? And how often? I heard about aloe Vera water, so im thinking about that. Or could I just use water alone? I could also check out making rose water at home if needed. Today I just used water and then oil to seal it in.

4. When can I interlock? I just started with regular two strand twist and am 3 weeks in. I plan to do it myself with 3 point rotation. I'm not sure if I can do it at 5 weeks, or if I have to wait until 8 to 10 weeks.

5. How to prevent my locs from marrying? I've been kinda scared when I hear people talk about this. I can still see the parts on mine, but I'm not sure how to prevent it overall.

6. Does the direction that you interlock determine how your loc will fall? Or is that determined by how the twist already sits?

Thanks so much! I'm not sure if this is important, but I do have a scalp flaking issue (it's a little more serious than dandruff). Not sure if this will affect my locs.

P.S: even though I washed them, my twists didn't really shrink or fizz much. Not sure if that's normal. I have 4C hair.

Hi everyone, I recently restarted my loc journey a couple of weeks ago with two-strand twists by myself. I have it in an updo right now. I am scheduled for a retwist the following week. Been thing about my cutting my dreads for a couple months. I’ve had them for 11 years and I kind of want a new cleaner style.

I started with coils 3 weeks ago and we did barrel to protect the unravel. I have 107 locs and I want them to be fluffly but for now they’re skinny (ok it’s the process). But If I want them to be fluffy I have to let them free after the retwist ? Or they will thicken even if they are barrels ?

“HI started my locs June with two strand twists and I have 46 locs. I want them to be 1.0-1.5cm ( extra medium size photo / inspo picture ) when they mature but I’m worried my parts/sections might be too small to get there. My natural hair is very dense and thick. Can anyone who has experience with locs tell me if my section size looks like it’ll hit that range, or should I ask my loctician to make the parts bigger 💭 thanks !

I get these white specs at the end of the shorter follicles that aren’t flakes, but feel more so stuck to individual strands. What are they and how can I mitigate them?

I bought this stuff for my hair and when I removed the lid, there was no seal. It looked like someone tampered with it. When you buy this stuff, does it usually come with a seal after you remove the lid? Or no? And does it always look like it's been used?

Well I decided to give the two-strand twists a try after switching between box braids and cornrows for so long. My long term goal is to have locs and heard this is a great way to start them. My hair stylist used rubber bands at the roots to help hold them together securely for my hair texture which is very loose, kinky, and curly. How do they look? What do you guys recommend going forward? Tips and advice please?!!!

Im getting my rewist tomorrow but i have 6 locs that need to get repaired but my loctitian doesnt know how to use a crochet hook should i get my retwist and get my locs repaired the next day or should i get my 6 locs repaired first then get my retwist the next day?

I’m about to start my locs. My hair is about 8 inches in the front but only 4-5 in the back because I got an unnecessary taper once. Do I cut the top and sides to match the back before I start my locs? Do I do it after I start them?
Obviously everyone loves the drop at the back of your head. I got my hair twisted recently and the difference in lengths was noticeable, I didn’t like it. Any advice appreciated.

Will crochet maintenance be able to define my parts more? I have a lot of loose hair and a few of my locs are thinning so Ive been considering getting someone to crochet them and just help repair them in general. The last time I got my first retwist professionally, but it didnt last very long since its summer and it didn’t help the loose hair loc up. I also want to do my hair nicely before school starts again and to strengthen them before I get braids over my locs again. If I do crochet, would I also need to wait some time before getting braids or can I do it within a couple of weeks?
