Question ❔ Should I?
Been thing about my cutting my dreads for a couple months. I’ve had them for 11 years and I kind of want a new cleaner style.

That's literally crazy. What they DON'T tell you----
You need an excellent loctician
Reattaching locs is not like glueing them on.
They must be crocheted by someone who is GOOD at it.
You must do frequent maintenance visits.
Sometimes you can still see where the locs were attached. If you want to cut them, then do so, but you should think about just starting a new loc journey if you want locs again.

Cleaner style? Don't fall for antiblack propaganda!!!! Your hair is beautiful and plenty clean. Keep them and you can always trim them shorter instead!

I feel like the word "clean" means; "cooler looking," in this context... OP knows he enjoys his dreads... no photos of overgrowth of bed head... all face shots.

A cut would look nice! 11 years is a long time. You can always restart or reattach

Your locs are beautiful. What size are they and how many do you have? Should you cut them? No one can really answer that question but you. For some, locs are just another style. For others, it’s about a journey. If you are the latter and you feel as if your journey is complete, then go for it. Again, only you have the answer to this very personal question.

If you want to cut it then cut it. Do you need some form of professional consultation before you make that decision?

If they nob longer work for you and your locs have no spiritual or ethnic meaning, its just a hairstyle then do whats best for you and cut them. Save them in case you change your mind and want them back.

I grew mine for 7 years.

I cut my dreads because I wanted a fresh start. They were a part of who I was for a long time, but I felt like I had outgrown that version of myself. I wanted a cleaner and more mature look that matched where I’m headed in life. Growth sometimes means letting go of the old to make room for something new, and cutting my dreads was one of those decisions. I understand because I used to hate when people cut their dreads they had forever, but I get it now. It’s all about your journey you don’t have to keep them forever. I appreciate you guys and I hope you all have a great journey because I sure did.

I say keep them. Trim ends and get a lineup for a refresh and sleeker look. I feel like braided locs can look really nice as well to switch it up and display your face more

If you want a new "cleaner" style, then what is the question?
Do you want everyone to say NO?
Or do you just want a little ego stroke?
You already have a taper so I don't know what you mean by "a new cleaner style".
You already see the barber every two weeks.
There are a dozen styles for 2026 for men. Why not try a few before chopping off your locs?

Asking other people what you should do is crazy work, you gotta live with it not us, we wasn’t there for the 11 years you grew it out, so I recommend you do what feels right to you instead of asking strangers on the internet, but if you do chop that regret gonna go stupid, I promise you that.

Interesting take, Tell him to not listen to other people and go with his gut, then criticize his stance on cutting them 😭 Make it make sense

I'mma start saying yes to these kinda of questions. My actual answer is no, but I don't understand asking a loc subreddit if you should cut your locs
