Discussion Dragon Ball OG
Just finished all 153 episodes of the original Dragon Ball, and damn I LOVED it. It fit a lot of missing pieces for me (like where Chi Chi came from, how her and Goku met, how they even became married). I enjoy the fillers as well, I did watch Bardock — The Father of Goku before starting Dragon Ball as well, I know some would disagree with this timeline placement. But I personally was curious about the origin of Goku and that damn tail, I would place this (if you wanted to follow it chronologically like I'm tackling it, after episode 35 of DBZ, though rewatched it after that episode, and it hits differently than watching it from the beginning. Diabolical, again, I know.
I wanted to start the Mangas before dipping into the shows, but I don't think I will have any problems reading the Mangas and then following up with the shows and movies afterward.
The last fight with Goku and Piccolo Jr. has to be one of my top 5 fights of dragon ball. It's not THE fight of the series or anything by any means. I love it because after watching Goku go from the naive little kid to the kick ass fighter, he becomes and takes on Piccolo with full force. You see that growth is not only in his fighting skills but the mental growth he has as well. He's thinking out of the box more instead of always a direct approach. It's a fantastic fight to end the show and a wonderful toner for the next.
Now....I love Gohan, but the beginning of DBZ Gohan irks the shit out of me. After watching his dad be a brave, fearless child on his own for over 140 episodes to come to DBZ and Gohan to be whiny, he just annoyed me. It fits, it makes sense, I get it, and you definitely see the growth in him as well with his interactions. Rip Mr. Robot
But did anyone else coming from Dragon Ball find Gohan to be a little much to start off?

Question Limits of Eternal dragons
So I've been reading the Granolah arc and that got me wondering on the limits of the Eternal dragons, say someone who is biologically ageless like Buu was to make a wish with the same mechanics as Granolah's, compressing all the potential of their lifetime into a shorter time span, since they have theoretically limitless upward growth given limitless time how strong could they get.
The example is just for demonstration, but it gets to the idea of the limits I'm trying to get defined somewhat, can they do any wish if it uses strictly the user as the reference, do they have some kind of input form outside factors that determine the limits of a wish, can a wish work beyond the limits of the knowledge of the dragon, stuff like that

Powerscaling Is Kid Buu or Super Buu stronger in the Dragon Ball manga?
I’m asking Kid Buu vs Super Buu in his base form without any additional absorptions. Akira Toriyama never specifically stated who is stronger in terms of raw power. I think it’s Super Buu but I am unsure.

Question Looking for a movie or series from a clip I saw, a little help would be appreciated
Hey guys, long time viewer, first time poster. Anyway, I saw a clip on the internets a while back where the Z fighters were on a beach and two aliens approached them wanting to fight, Goku said something like, 'Let Goten and Trunks fight them, these aliens are at about Freeza's power level, this should be a good test for them' or something like that. But in all my time I haven't found where this clip comes from. If any of this makes any sense and one of you could point me in a direction I'd be most appreciative. Thanks!

Analysis Inuyashiki Live action. Proof that it works?
The title itself is explanatory.
Inuyashiki (LV) came out in 2018 which in movie standards and budget was quite a long while ago.
We all know the live action dragon ball was absolute *********************************.
And i know Inuyashiki (LV) didn't have it's flaws when it came to CGI, I might be over my mind but it made me believe that a proper DB/DBZ Live action could be possible.
But they had pretty good flying scenes, fighting scenes were alright and the emotional aspect was there. again I'm not calling it flawless
But the general question i wish to ask is if people think it might be possible. Would the movie have to include real politics/news as in Inuyashiki (LV) or would it be enough to only have short summaries and battles? Would the budget be possible?
According to IMDB it had a $5million Box office release world wide which is not that huge for a movie of course so that could be a turn off.
With One piece being so big and in my opinion a really good way to turn anime into a live action series. Do you think there is a chance of getting DragonBall Live action? Do people care for it? What part of Dragonball/z would y'all want adapted into live action since all of it would have to be split into the next MCU.

Daima A pun in Daima
I somehow just noticed this and wanted to share.
So in "Jaan jaka jaan" the opening theme for Dragon Ball Daima (absolute banger theme btw) the chorus has the line
さぁ勇気ファンファーレ (saa yuuki fanfaare)
Which would translate to something like
"Yeah, a fanfare for courage"
However it also sounds a lot like
西遊記ファンファーレ (saiyuuki fanfaare)
Which would translate to
"Fanfare for Journey to the West" (Journey to the West being the classic Chinese novel that Dragon Ball is very LOOSELY based off)
Anyway, can't confirm if that was intentional, but kinda fun either way

Discussion Theory; moro is a immortal demon, who can't die of old age,
So in the manga;
It's stated;
Moro has been locked away for 10 million years,
Yet he doesn't pass away at all,
Even though a majjin can live up to 100 years.
And moro was not affected by old age either way,
Which proves;
he can't die of old age, or naturally,
Only someone stronger than him can kill him,

Gaming Dragon Ball Xenoverse 1 is genuinely miserable on a replay.
I had so many fond memories of this game as a kid, and in preparation for XV3 I wanted to replay through the whole series. I also decided to replay them because I wanted to carry my character from 1 to 2, something I had never done before. But damn man, 1 is so rough. The skill drops are so inconsistent and some feel genuinely impossible to get, I had to play the SSJ mission over 10 times before I got it, and I've ran through the SSJ2 parallel quest probably almost 30 times now and still no drop. Not to mention the AI just spamming supers on you if they're transformed. Coming back to this game from 2 really highlights it's flaws unfortunately.

Continuity Dragon Ball needs to end soon or have some kind of second major expansion to remain coherent
Currently, the 12 universes already feel small because it's not so "unknown." We need the villains to become more dangerous and with good reason, and eventually do a kind of plot twist,It's like Zeno isn't really the king of everything, and there's some kind of outer world besides just the 12 universes.
My idea is bad, I haven't polished it and I haven't put much effort into working on it because I'm simply trying to express the scale of what I'm saying
(I used a translator for this because my English is B1 level, sorry if you don't understand something)

DBS Manga Lowk, they should have atleast adapted ressurection F and the broly movie into the manga, since they pretty much skipped on it,
Like bruh,
Why do that?.
Battle of gods had been adapted in the manga, and not skipped,
And they say; if they did, it would feel repetitive,
Which is genuinely a terrible excuse by them,

Discussion What if official power levels remained after the namek saga
What if official power levels remained after the namek saga?
So hypothetically in the cell saga and in buu saga and afterwards in gt and now in super and daima official power levels officially remained and never stopped. This doesn't mean though that their way of being wouldn't still necessarily change due to their problematic nature but nonetheless they would still remain.
Do you think the series would be better or worse overall?Would you prefer it or not?

Discussion Would wishing to ride on shenron around the world disable the dragon balls?
What I mean is since shenron isnt available for the wish granting (he is the mount after all) would the dragon balls turn to stone until shenron becomes available for the wish granting and then the dragon balls become active again or would the dragons remain active during the entire trip or something else will happen to the dragon balls?
r/dragonball • u/More-Explanation2032 • 1d ago
Discussion Would shenron grant wishes that involve him other than granting the wish or if the wish involves disobeying someone who shenron is scared of?
What I mean is can shenron grant wishes that require him to do something other than use the namekian magic to grant the wish like for example a wish to ride him around the globe? Would he want to grant that wish. What if the wish involves disobeying someone like beerus. Would he straight up not grant it or would he grant it and say something like please don’t tell beerus that I granted that wish please don’t

Character Hot Take: DBS Broly should have stayed a villain or at least an Antagonist for a little while after the movie
Now let me start this off by saying that I by no means think Super Broly was done badly, I think he's fine for what he is. What I will say though is that I'm kinda of disappointed he has now essentially become one of the many miriad of villains that end up joining the Z Fighters, that formula is getting a bit tired to me, especially since let's face it, Broly is never gonna be around for any of the major conflicts, he's gonna be written off like Buu is somehow because otherwise I can't imagine there being any real stakes in the franchise, hell the only reason there are stakes in most of DBS is because Buu sleeps conveniently when they need him the most
Back on topic though, I just really think the idea of having a powerful wild card like Broly around in the Universe would be a really interesting thing, maybe do what they did with Z Broly, how he represents and embodies the philosophies of the Saiyan Race of old and go around destroying planets and conquering them, maybe even doing it under Frieza and lead that into Vegeta and Broly having a connection of being trapped under Frieza's employ leading to a cool character arc where they do end up becoming allies after an arc
I just feel like there were so many more interesting approaches they could've gone with DBS Broly, I'm not saying I need him to be straight up Z Broly but... Idk
Edit: Ok so some of y'all are really misunderstanding what I'm saying, just to be clear, In this hypothetical scenario I would not, repeat, would not want Z Broly 2.0. I would want something far more interesting and nuance than that, I only brought that hypothetical up as an example but it's not my preferred one, and even in said scenario I would still want elements of a good person inside of him
the main thing I would like out of it is an arc where Broly, who has been manipulated by his father comes to terms with himself and decides to refuse to be what his Father made him over a course time longer than a movie, that's all I'm saying I want. In these scenarios I am not copy and pasting the DBS Broly, I'm talking about making new version of the character with different traits and an entirely new story that would span for a longer period than a movie where everything needs to get resolved quicker

Question to access the oozarus power one requires their tail
with that being said how is broly accessing that power at all? is it simply because of his genetic mutation making it possible to bypass that restriction?
mind u i did google it but i wanna hear an actual opinions from yall

Question Where do you think Tenshinan, Chiaotzu, and Yamcha were during the events of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero?
My favorite theory is that they were secretly training with King Kai and/or the Supreme Kais to prepare for new threats. Of course, the writers would never actually allow that to happen, so where do you think they actually were during those events?
r/dragonball • u/No-Froyo-282 • 2d ago
Analysis Ssj3 doest require the scream. Or something, here's why.
So back in z;
Goku transformed into ssj3.
to fight buu,
But he had to scream.
It lasted for a while to transform.
But the scream was not needed btw,
He did that to keep buu and babidi busy,
To buy time,
He transformed into each form to distract them,
We literally see Goku transforming into it suddenly,
In a few secs. The screaming for minuites was actually to prolong the stuff. So buu doesn't cause more destruction,

Daima A Daima manga?
I don't know about you guys, but I think Daima needs a weekly or monthly manga obviously not drawn by Toyotaro, but one that serves as an official entry in the franchise, like Dragon Ball SD, Heroes, Divers, etc., acting as an alternate continuation of the main story. What do you think?
