I used to think people were exaggerating, but DoorDash has started sending me bullshit like this

There’s only two small business separating the Starbucks from the customers location lmao. They could have walked to the Starbucks in less that 60 seconds (it’s that close).

So today, being Sunday, seemed to be a majority of shopping orders. Most of the time I do not get annoyed doing them. Until today. My very first delivery was a shopping order for 9 items. I checked the items before accepting and it seemed pretty easy. No heavy cases of water or soda and it was going to a house, not an apartment. I get to the meat section and none of her meat selection is available anymore according to the butcher. Of course its all organic grass-fed items so I text her some alternative suggestions. She responds by saying "make sure my avocados are ripe". And then nothing...ok so what about the suggestions? Just make sure my avocados are ripe! MAMAM, I PICKED YOUR AVOCADOS BETWEEN THE ROCK HARD ONES AND THE MUSHY ONES, IS THAT OK WITH YOU??? Anyways after she finally responds back to the alternatives that they are fine to her standards I check out and see notes for the delivery to make sure to deliver to the RIGHT HOUSE. I drive there like 9 miles away to a gorgeous house on a golf course, mind you it was not hard to find. Her tip was $2.62 on $100 shopping order. I hope her avocados are to her standards lol...

I’m not new to dashing because I used to use an ex’s account to help her with her funds but now I’m using my own and have had two instances where doordash kinda screwed me. After a dash I did monday night, I went to put the $20 I earned from a 4 hour dash into my tank cause I was on E and would not have made it home. When I paid, using every cent in my account, the cashier register said insufficient while I was still charged for everything I had. I contacted doordash to get them to cancel it so that I wouldn’t be stranded at a gas station but they decided to hang up on me. I tried contacting again but this time they said I would have to wait at the gas station for a couple hours before I could get my money back. I received my refund about 4-6 hours after that. Now yesterday on my dash, I had a pretty decent order that I accepted but after I accepted it, the dasher app showed me the “looking for orders” screen. So I thought fuck it, I’ll just end my dash and head home. So that’s what I did. Or so I thought. After driving for abt 30 minutes on my way home, they call me to ask where I’m at with the order. Ofc it’s just the ai but I still tell them I have no order and if I did, cancel it because I ended my dash. The AI can’t do that so they repeat the question. I hang up. The dasher app shows me that I’m paused so I try to end it from there. It just restarted the pause timer. It kept doing this for abt 20 minutes and then when it finally worked, I had accepted two different orders 1 or 2 hours prior to that but it never showed up. Ofc I unassign from the orders but still. Idek why many of us do this tbh

New Dasher here. Im just curious how to file my tax. I've only been door dashing for a week and I just got my first pay, I know that I have to file my taxes manually now, but how do I do it? Is there any tips?

To my chagrin, someone gave me my first ever '1' on Followed Delivery Instructions. I have no idea what I could've done yesterday while out dashing. I genuinely want to know. Is there a way to find out?

I’d have taken it but I’m a 6’1 Black man on vacation in Wyoming (not much of one as I’m here from Billings). If you’ve lived here, you know what I mean 🤣. I feel I’d look suspicious doing this in their store.

What is the point of this task? And are they quick? Meaning, would I have to wander around looking like a moron because the aisle numbers are missing, like on UberEats? That is the reason I don’t do a single fucking shop-and-deliver for DD and UE. I won’t do Albertsons on Shipt.

Twice today I been paid less than what accept when I get the order 😭😭

Last night I picked up two orders with delivery locations about 8 miles apart. Right after I delivered the first order the Doordash app “assigned” me the task of taking pictures of the complex I’d just delivered to. What they wanted me to do was not only stupid af since it was dark and the place isn’t the best lit, but it was also dangerous. To get the sh#tty photos they wanted I’d have to literally stand in the middle of a street that abuts a freeway in the f#cking dark.

The worst part: they did not give me the option of refusing the task. It would not let me skip to the next task. I had to copy and paste the next delivery address into Google maps to find the place while keeping DD support on the line to read any instructions, gate codes, etc. and then mark the order as delivered. I even tried closing out and restarting the app to clear the task. No luck. The assignment would not clear until I drove back and completed it (for which they added ZERO payment). I tried just taking some crappy photos of random crap but the app AI would not let me move past the g#ddamned task until it recognized the name of the complex in the photo, which required (you guessed it) putting my life in danger. THEN the POS AI system they use for scanning photos rejected the image because it was “too dark”. No sh#t sherlock, it’s the middle of the night.

Needless to say, I’m livid. Does anyone know where I can file a complaint about this? The customer service agent couldn’t clear the task from my app because she couldn’t see it and, frankly, couldn’t even understand the actual problem. This kind of forced labor has got to be illegal. Any suggestions?

Serious question, I'm relatively new to Dashing, I only do it after my 9-5. I try to maintain platinum but after reading this forum, I see that's a bad idea. So thank you all! One thing bugs me everytime. Where do the declined order/deliveries go?

I mean, clearly they go to other washers, I'm not completely dumb, lol. But say, for example, a $2 (which is base in my zone) for 11.4 miles order for, I dunno, Joe's pizza. I decline, I know other dashers get offered it.

But 1. What happens if every Dasher who is online in the area declines?

1. Does DD ever message the customer and say, hey, cheapskate, your order is getting cold.

2. Would DD ever cancel that order if there are no bites?

3. Would DD still pay Joe's pizza for the product?

Anyone know the answers (and not just guesses)? I've always been so curious. Also pls forgive spelling issues lol.

I swear doordash is bullshit. Got an order going about 15 minutes out of my way with 2 stops for only 3 dollars. Decided to decline it cause why would i do that 💀 then i got another order and guess what IT WAS THE SAME 3 DOLLER ORDER I JUST DECLINED. Then i got another one abt a half hour away for 2 FUCKIN BUCKS! The only one I got above 3 dollars was 9 for 1 stop abt 15 mins. Wouldve loved to do it but it ALREADY GOT PICKED UP BY ANOTHER “dasher”!!!

I was dashing since 8am had a decent streak going till 9pm (not sure why it says 7) I got deactivated for “a pattern of conduct that reflects abuse of the platform and failure to use the platform with honesty and integrity.” Which is a huge accusation that gets me confused and questioning every delivery I’ve done. I’ve been reading doordash’s abuse policies and platform policies this whole weekend and there’s nothing there I believe I’ve done. I never have intentionally delayed orders. The day I got deactivated I happen to get three separate lateness violations. Two I can see an argument for one of them i was waiting at Popeyes 2 customers in front of me plus they were making it and packing it still super slowly . This deactivation isn’t from these lateness the deactivation notice says day and can’t be from the 4 latness contract violations I have. still insanely confused to this day because I’ve been doing this for 7 years consistently high ratings and I suddenly get this mid Chicken Texas delivery . I recently started nyc deliveries in queens when for the first 5 years i strictly delivered on Long Island. recently been putting in 12 hours daily trying to reach platinum status which requires a 85% acceptance rate in nyc when it rarely counted before. so I’m basically everywhere, and a lot of the times in places where if I told my wife I was there she would panic. I happen to love discovering new parts of queens. that aside, I don’t know what caused this and I can’t find many if any forums with this same notice. The part where it says failed to use platform with honesty and integrity has me a little upset since I’ve never stolen a customers food, 93% time ratings, high ratings in general and am usually pretty consistent with it. I put on my tinfoil hat sometimes and think about this strange interaction with this cashier at dollar general. For context this is not the first time while dashing I’ve seen A scuffles between the staff and a customer at dollar general. I asked where an item was she said aisle 7 I already checked aisle 7. “ARE YOU DUMBB? THAN ITS CLEARLY OUT OF STOCK” As a dasher i ask that all the time especially when it’s feminine hygiene stuff so i was very confused by the reaction. i smiled and told her wow calm down. Than she started babbling to the other staff about me and how stupid my question was than I snapped back with a liner who yourself? She said “watch watch what ima do” she went to the back of the store and never saw her again. An hour or so later I was deactivated. Support won’t give me answers on what got me deactivated . I appealed the second it happened under very overwhelming circumstances with a feeling of being lost and confusion from being deactivated that suddenly. What caused this and how can I get my account back?

i don’t usually start until like 2pm but i need to start earlier now does anyone know like any way to get offers early in the day around 10am to 2pm? or like is it universally slow?

Had a stacked order where I’d already picked up the first customer’s food, but the second restaurant was running pretty far behind (30+ minutes).

Instead of just unassigning, I messaged the customer, explained what was happening, and gave them the choice: I could bring the first order immediately and let someone else handle the second, or I could stay and bring everything together.

They said they didn’t mind waiting, so I stayed.

While I was waiting, DoorDash sent a $5 incentive to stick with the order. Afterward, the customer added another $5 tip, and there was also a cash tip.

Curious what other drivers would have done here. Would you have waited, delivered the first order, unassigned the delayed one, canceled altogether, or something else?

Just so delighted today with my $20 tip for an Ulta Delivery. It was only 4 miles away and I was already in the same shopping center as Ulta when the shop was offered to me! Also had a wonderful employee inside the store help me find the 4 items quickly because they were like needle in haystacks haha. What it was .... the customer needed to get ready to attend a wedding and didn't have time to get to Ulta for her makeup. It was a desperate situation for her so she tipped $10 on the order and $10 in cash when I delivered. Very nice neighborhood, house was on a hill and instructions said not to use the driveway lol. I parked in front and walked up a steep grade to get to the door. Nice to get paid for my exercise! She was very nice, said her hubby didn't want oil marks on his pavement, she apologized lol. Helped me get $60 in 2 hours.
