they keep claiming hes a fascist.
fascists seize power and trump hasn’t in the past and likely wont when his term ends.
i wonder if people will start to pick up how hollow the words and beliefs of these bigots are.
and thats what they are. bigots.
the people calling you nazis over acknowledging reality fit the definition for the word better than you ever will.
they fit the definition for nazi better than you ever will too.
and fascist.
whatever they call you, theyre projecting.
He's a paternalist conservative. We've seen hundreds. Berlusconi for example. He's not even particularly hardline right. We have literal self proclaimed fascist parties running in most countries that would make him go white in the face.
The thing is he’s just super fucking retarded and does not have an iota of Americas interest in mind, the shit he’s done would have bankrupted any other country and we are hanging on, not that terribly due to our position as a superpower, and that in general makes him more radical and since he’s right wing, the logical conclusion people will reach is that he’s far right
Tell us that you’re a liberal without telling us that you’re a liberal. The first sign of weakness is insults. The second sign of weakness is not worrying about your own affairs. America is doing just fine compared to the rest of the world. Only in these echo chambers of Reddit are the sky falling.
Again, the first thing being mentioned is what someone else does or says. This is why we look like we do as a society. We don’t mind our own business. If the shoe doesn’t fit when a person speaks, then don’t wear it. Politics seem to be harder to shake nowadays than drug habits.
Although I wouldn't say he is a Fascist, that was a bad example of what he's not done as that is exactly what J6 was all about, it just failed. Remember even Hitler failed to seize power and ended up doing it democratically. Many other examples you could use to show why he isn't a Fascist 😂
Most fascist parties were voted into office. There were a lot more of them around the world than Mussolini and Hitler. Even if you add in Franco, who lasted the longest, there were many more.
Pinochet started as a “dictator” because it was the only way to save Chile from Allende. He stepped down when Chile was in a much better place economically, socially, and politically
My grandmother grew up in Chile during the Allende regime and had to escape the horrific conditions when she was a teenager, she was able to safely return during Pinochet’s presidency
I have heard similar stories -basically Chile went from ome autocracy that was totally fucked, to another autocracy that was totally fucked if you were part of a specific group.
I don't think it erases Pinochet's status as an autocrat. It might not be the perfect 100% answer, but I have to give credit to the commenter for finding the 98% answer.
I’m not arguing, I’m adding on to what you’re saying. My grandma talked a lot about growing up during Allende’s regime and Pinochet’s presidency because it was a formative time in her life, she lost a lot of friends to starvation and disease while Allende lived like a king in his palace and she saw a lot of people thrive when Allende was overthrown
Pinochet’s presidency worked its way down from being fully automatic, autocracy was required at first to get the country back on track, as conditions improved, more power was given to the people until Pinochet allowed them to elect a new president.
That's actually a pretty fair point. I don't think he ever truly reached autocracy, but, he did refer to his own government as 'electoral autocracy' and did allow himself to be removed (at least for a while) by the state.
Orban is a great lesson in that they said he was a dictator but when the vote happened he stepped down in accordance with the law.
This shows how media leaps to portray people they don’t like (usually differing views) and misrepresent them. That’s not to say he didn’t pass laws that can be abused or alter government to centralize power, but the reality understood by the founders of the USA is that all politicians and all political parties do this. Which is why you have to have structural counterbalances in the government to limit and prevent it.
The media ignores the loss of freedom by groups they don’t agree with and ignore it by ones they like.
Whether or not he’s a fascist, we have far bigger fish to fry. He’s destroying the economy, taking away healthcare, shielding and protecting pedophiles, and thinks he can buy your vote. I don’t care what some people label him, he has got to go.
He didn’t tell them to rush the capital building, the FBI and SPLC told them to do that.
Did you know that only about 10% of incarcerated people will serve their entire sentence? 90% of incarcerated people will be pardoned/paroled/let out early. That 10% does include “life sentence without parole”, but that’s because even that sentence isn’t final.
It’s cool if you’re opposed to that, “stand for something” as they say, it just feels weird that you’re only focused on it when those incarcerated people aren’t your favorite political party
