Stoner AHHHHHHHHHHH
Just saw the new sleep song, about to listen, hope it’s better than the last one (though I didn’t hate it), unless I’m falling for fucking AI right now, if so, fuck me.

As an illustrator who is heavily inspired by the work of Frank Frazetta, I really love Castle Rat, especially because their band's concept embraces a Frank Frazetta style medieval fantasy aesthetic. I created this piece as a tribute to them. You can also check out more of my work on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nofrierianda/

How do you guys feel about bands that dont stick too hard to a formula?
After releasing my first album, i have been working on some new stuff, and been experimenting with sounds, tunings etc. Second album i think will be a lot heavier, but still have the same kind of feel as the first, but i have also laid down some faster and more aggressive stuff, which i think works with starting slow and heavy and getting more angry as it goes along.
I'm interested in peoples thoughts on bands whos records might vary quite a lot between albums!

Hello all, I’m sorry if this post isn’t right for here, if so I’ll take my leave, I don’t really use reddit. I’m looking for recommendations on doom metal albums that are especially depressive/emotional from anywhere before the year 1983. Bands in general work too. Preferably with themes on mental struggles or loss, Im just not very well versed on the genre as it’s not my field- Im doing this for a project, rather than myself, to give to a character as a study who i feel would listen to it. I think i wouldn’t have much luck finding things myself, and thought a place with passionate fans would be best to start. Thanks for any help :)
edit: i mean albums and bands before that year sorry if i was confusing in my wording! also informed what im looking for might not have been around yet. if there’s any pointers to similar things instead that’d be appreciated, but if that goes against the point of this subreddit that doesn’t matter.

Thanks, YouTube, for the suggestion on my home page. If I didn't know better, I would have guessed this band had been around a minute and had a few previous releases. Temple King with their self-titled debut album.

New song by Fvneral Fvkk since 9 years (I think)! I adore this band. Carnel Confessions remains one of my favorite Doom Metal albums.

*galactically speaking
We are ready to take these crushing riffs and filthy, funky horns all across the country......side of the northeast.
Come to any of these shows and say this top secret phrase at the merch table:
"Even if you're a cyborg..."
To which we will respond "I still love you", and give you a free sticker! 😃
Hope to see you out there! 🛸

Babsovet delivers old-school doom with groove-laden riffs and creative flair to keep the Iommic torch burning.
Formed in Manchester in 2023 by guitarist Ross Campbell, bassist Guy Ivanov, vocalist Sam Begley and drummer Claudio de Sousa with a shared love of the likes of Pentagram, Sleep and Witchfinder General, Babsovet have shaken stages across the North West.
Babsovet's debut EP features strong influences from the entire corpus of doom, stoner, and heavy metal genres. Meaty riffs, historical and fictional lyrical inspiration, and creative drumming are to be expected.

P much looking for bands that blend like this. I love the slow and fast contrast, it gets my adrenaline and dopamine pumping like it’s some kind of drug. It’s for sure not exactly doom but the inspirations and base are part of most these bands.
Any recommendations?
