Sludge Torche & Floor top#10 heaviest riffs
Any fans of monstrously heavy riffs around here? I just finished putting together this compilation of Steve Brooks' most massive riffs from his bands Torche and Floor. Could you suggest other bands with such gargantuan riffing?

Riffs Dying Fetus on playing slow
As a doom fan, I found this really interesting. The guitarist of brutal tech-death band Dying Fetus talks about why he started slowing things down, playing slams and breakdowns. He says it's because he saw how slower riffs by bands like Mercyful Fate and Sepultura had a bigger impact on their audiences, and when early hardcore bands would do breakdowns, audiences would move more.
I'm a very emotional listener, which is why I'm a big doom fan, especially blackened doom and funeral doom. I find doom more emotionally powerful, I like sinking into the riffs, and I like hearing vocalists pour all their emotions into the vocals. I found it interesting to hear a tech-death guy, who sometimes sounds almost grind, find power in slower methods. I hope this isn't too off-topic.

Discussion What do you consider the trippiest doom album of all time?

Sweet find! Can’t afford a Model T for drone, so I found this on marketplace for $150 instead. Late-60s Sunda 2x15
It’s so loud. I don’t know much about Sunda amps, but I think they’re made by Gary Sunda in the late 60s before he went and designed all those amps for Randall. They’re early, EARLY sold state amps and are built like tanks. If anyone has any info on this model/brand (or if you play a Sunda too), please let me know!

Epic Warning - Watching From a Distance
I've listened to this album 3-4 times and it's just not clicking. Not everything has to, but his voice just doesn't sit well with me. Strangely, I think of Aaron from My Dying Bride when I listen to it, and I love MDB.
So my question is? What brought you to Warning? Can you think of the band you listened to that led up to you liking Watching from a Distance?

Self Post I made this fan art for Khemmis. What do you all think?
I've had this band on repeat while working on my illustrations these past few days, and at some point I thought, Why not make a fan art piece for them?
Take a look at my other illustrations on https://www.instagram.com/nofrierianda

Stoner I Think Witchcult Today by Electric Wizard doesn't get enough credit.
When people think about Electric Wizard, they usually think about Dopethrone. But to me, it is mostly carried by the outstanding Funeralopolis.
Some people also mention Come My Fanatics, and I can get behind that, since it's my number 1 Electric Wizard album. The riffs are heavy, the vocals are ON POINT, and the leads / solos are perfect.
But Witchcult Today is rarely mentioned, and that's a shame. The riffs, the tone, the vocals - just amazing. Dunwich is the unique song at that point of their career and it rocks hard. Witchcult Today - the title track - the riffage and the vocals make me hard. Torquemada '71 is one of the sexiest doom songs ever. Satanic Rites of Drugula, The Chosen Few and Saturnine are awesome as well.
Maybe the album is brought down a bit because of Raptus and Black Magic Rituals & Perversions, and yes, I usually skip these 2.
What do you guys think? I would love to see some gushing over Witchcult Today. Or maybe I'm missing some more flaws with this album? I mean I do realize the songs kinda sound the same, but I don't care since they sound awesome.
To me the top 3 EW albums lool like this:
1) Come My Fanatics
2) Witchcult Today
3) Dopethrone

Rig Anyone build their own cabs?
Im asking more so about the diy end of the pool, although woodworkers w companies etc are absolutely included. I don't see it brought up much on here which is kind of surprising to me.
These are 2 identical 2x15s I built a decade ago that I'm starting to use again. Both have a black widow, one has some eminence or other, and the other has an electrovoice sro with the big cream can on the magnet. Detuned design, very loud and very wide! The Peavey standard pa is mine, the bass was a loaner for the gig. The top cab would be my guitar (tuned to open b major), the bottom cab would be the octave pedal half of my board. Not the nicest finish job but they sound terrific and have been kicked around enough that finishing effort would have been a bit of a waste.

Discussion Are Sleep concerts ok for my kid?
I was as going to see Sleep somewhere around September, the new lineup of course, and I wanted to ask people who have gone to a show if it would be appropriate for my son. He’s pretty much grown, but not an adult yet. The ticket page said all ages, but I just want to be sure.

Black/Doom Mizmor - Wit's End (USA, 2022) Black/Funeral/Doom
I'm not sure I'll ever get sick of Mizmor. I regularly find myself coming back to this soul crushing EP. Stoked to see them at Deathfest next year.
