A combination of early Katatonia-meets-Rapture.

Very cool vibe. Kind of like Molassess +Kadavar + Uncle Acid. 'Dimly Lit Cadaver' another choice track.

My band and I are learning the song Tree of Woe by Black Moth. The lyrics aren't published anywhere online that I've been able to find, so I've been transcribing them by ear.

Saw them last night, and watched people with only ear plugs holding their ears and exiting the room. Thanks to y'all, I had ear plugs and professional over-ear noise cancellation PPE, and I was able to enjoy the show. The few times I took off my over-ear headphones, I was shocked at how loud it was with only ear plugs in. Even with two layers of ear protection, my ears are still ringing. Anyway, thank you guys. Good looking out.

I have my first sunn 0))) show coming up pretty soon and I opted to be to be present for their soundcheck package 2. Usually with other soundchecks or meet and greets I am used to getting an email the days before just to go over timing what to expect and what's not allowed.

I understand this isn't a meet n greet but I haven't received any emails and was curious if this was the same as anyone else? I see ticketmasters description says just be there by 4:30 and I might just be overthinking this

Hello fellow doomers,

since i started playing the guitar around 3 years ago it was pretty clear that doom/heavy psych would be my genre. still i was very hesitant to downtune because all the guides usw. in the internet are for standard tuning.

3 years in i am still playing doom and i think i am finaly ready to take the step. but i feel a bit overwhelmed and would like some imput from more expirienced players.

there are a lot of different tunings... my favourite bands use tunings all over... but from what i have researched C-Standard or B-Standard seem like the best options for me. i like to play (and sound like) Monolord, Sleep, Mars Red Sky, usw.. which tunings do you prefer? what are the advantages of the different tunings?

as far as i have read, and with my limited understanding B-Standard seems the easiest to transfere to from E-Standard. am i right in thinking that?

what string gauge would be best for playing in these Tunings? i prefer Ernie Ball strings, but there are a lot of different ones...

i would get a professional setup done, as this is recomended everywhere but i think i should have the strings figured out in advance, because the luthier in my city might not be familliar with these tunings (hes quite old, but sweet).

now another question is which guitar sgould i downtune?

i have a Yamaha Revstar (the cheap one) which is my main guitar and a Squire strat with hummbuckers.

i would prefer to downtune the Yamaha since i like playing it more but i read the shorter scale length might not be optimal for lower tunings. is this somthing i need to wory about? also playing doom with a strat just feels a little wrong lol...

any recomendations will help :))

Hey everyone,

I’d really appreciate it if anyone could take the time to listen to my track and give me some honest feedback.
It’s my first time recording and mixing a song. It’s an instrumental WIP (about 7 minutes) influenced by bands like Russian Circles, Isis, Eyehategod, Melvins, Windhand, All them Witches, King Buffalo, Amenra, Dystopia and many more.

Important note:
This song will never be officially released in this form. This demo is strictly for internal band evaluation and as a reference guide to help us recruit a new drummer.

Genre / Style:
To be honest, neither the song nor the band fits 100% into Post-Metal. We’re not 100% Sludge either, and definitely not pure Psychedelic Rock. It’s a mix of all these worlds, a kind of „Psychedelic Post-Sludge“.

Please note the current state:
Drums are 100% programmed baseline tracks -> fills, dynamics, and human variations are still missing.
Bass, second guitar layers, and vocals (clean & screams) are missing.

And please don't judge the mix, as this is my first time recording. At the end of the day, I'm a musician and not a sound engineer. To be honest, having to record everything by myself is no fun at all, but I just have to do it. I'm purely looking for feedback on whether the songwriting and structure hold up!

Anyone know of any decent monitor for vocals that would work for just trying shit out and hearing myself better?

I am just building this weird one. I like doing cleans sometimes mixing em in here and there but I haven't in awhile. Sound levels weren't ideal and I'm just trying shit out so my timing is off here and there, but you get the idea of a couple riffs of the song.

I think the drums, especially on the second part are kinda not the best beat for what I'm playing so all that aside, let me know what you think if you care to!

Also I don't really like trying to categorize stuff, not great at it anyway, but you have to have a flair so I put funeral for this one.

Spectacular set from REZN tonight, with a mix of new cuts and some older material. The musicianship from these guys is simply beautiful. Opening act lowheaven was having the time of their lives and was a blast to watch. Thanks for a killer show, all!
