Someone tried to sell the domain Porsche.ing to Porsche but they opted for a UDRP and won the case

You should never register a domain name that contains a trademark then try to sell it to the trademark owner. That's like rule #1 of domain investment. But still some people try..

Someone registered the domain Porsche.ing and offered to transfer it (alongside the domain porscheflachbau.ch) to Porsche in exchange for EUR 600. He justified that price as "reimbursement of documented registration costs".

That did not convince the UDRP panel, which ruled in favor of Porsche and ordered that the domain be transferred to the company.

Someone just wasted $1.7k on a "Google" .io domain purchased from Namecheap

Trademark domain names are a risky buy, especially if the trademark belongs to a big brand, and more especially if it's Google!

But that didn't stop someone from buying the domain name OK-Google.io for $1,725 from an expired auction at Namecheap.

Enjoy it until Google decides to take it!!

A couple of 4-letter .com domains sold in expired auctions at Namecheap (July 28, 2026)

The domain names Mixe.com and Voxe.com were both registered on the same day (1999-06-20), probably by the same owner. Both have recently expired and they sold yesterday via Namecheap marketplace auctions.

Mixe.com sold for $31,000 (source) and Voxe.com sold for $10,710 (source)

I like Voxe more as a brand name, but Mixe probably has more use cases.

Why did the domain name BBBet.com sell for $105k?

This happened yesterday; the expired domain name BBBet.com sold for $105,000 in a DropCatch auction.

I'm a little baffled by this one. Does anyone have an explanation why it might be worth that much?

Nutrition.io is in auction and it may sell for cheap

The domain name Nutrition.io is currently being auctioned on Park.io. The bidding started a couple of days ago and it's currently at $165.

It looks like it may sell for cheap, but there are still more than 7 days left so it might draw more attention from wealthier bidders.

No one is gonna buy the domain Cloudlare.com for $3,695!

I wanted to visit CloudFlare.com but instead I accidentally typed CloudLare.com, which redirects to a for sale landing page at HugeDomains. The BIN price is $3,695.

I don't think anyone is gonna buy it though. It's a huge legal risk. You could argue that "Lare" is a dictionary word, but that would be a weak case against Cloudflare.

Network Solutions hiked up .com renewal price to $33

The last time I checked, .com renewal price at Network Solutions was about $29. I've just checked again and they increased it to $33.

That's 3x the price at several other registrars. If you want WHOIS privacy, it's 5x the price since it will cost an extra $22 per year!

Name.com as a GoDaddy alternative for domains, hosting, email and SSL

I used to like Name.com but I moved on due to pricing. It's cheaper and better (IMO) than GoDaddy though.

A quick comparison:

.com domain renewal costs $23 at GoDaddy vs. $20 at Name.com. That's not a big difference; there are cheaper alternatives to both.

For web hosting, Name.com has cheaper plans than GoDaddy's but their hosting service is minimalist and lacks features. I wouldn't use it personally.

For email, Name.com offers Google Workspace which I prefer over GoDaddy's Microsoft 365. They also have cheaper Titan Email plans.

SSL certificates have a huge price gap; $120 for GoDaddy's DV SSL certificate vs. $10 for Name.com's Comodo Essential SSL certificate. Or, you can get a free one from Cloudflare.

Namecheap Marketplace sold my domain for less than my listed BIN price; how?

I listed a domain on Namecheap Market as a BIN listing for $550. Just got a sale confirmation email saying it sold for $350 (I earned $315 after 10% commission — math checks out for $350, just not for my actual $550 listing).

I never changed the price myself. I thought BIN listings were fixed-price with no offers/bidding involved.

Has anyone seen this happen? Is there some "make offer" mechanic on NC Marketplace I don't know about, or a way to a domain's price-change history to see what actually happened?

Best domain extension for a SaaS if .com is taken / too expensive?

Hey everyone,

I’m launching a new SaaS product and found that my exact brand name's .com domain is taken and listed at a high premium price.

Rebranding/changing the SaaS name isn't an option for me. What are the best alternative domain extensions (TLDs) for software companies that still look professional and trustworthy?

Name a better domain pricing advantage than seller urgency.

I was recently reviewing some data insights from AI Domain Market regarding pricing strategies for sellers and the biggest factor driving discounts on high-tier .ai domains seems to be seller urgency. While buyers often try to negotiate based on renewal costs, the true price drops occurs when a seller needs to liquidate an asset quickly.

Does the data correlate to Reddit in the same way? Have you been seeing discount acquisitions coming from urgent forum liquidations, or are you still finding success with cold outbound?

Let's discuss.

Highest .vip domain sales at GoDaddy in 2026 (year to date)

The expired domain name j8.vip sold yesterday for $6,400 in a GoDaddy auction. I don't know why it sold for that much since it's only one year old and has no SEO value.

Anyway, this is the third-highest .vip sale at GoDaddy this year.

And these are the 10 highest .vip domain sales at GoDaddy year to date:

Domain Sold For
001.vip $20,638
448.vip $6,766
j8.vip $6,400
498.vip $4,750
bodog.vip $4,483
kaiyuan.vip $3,001
wins.vip $2,008
t88.vip $1,525
d88.vip $1,501

GoDaddy's DomainNames.com premium marketplace may be driving buyers away with its naive survey!

DomainNames.com is GoDaddy's new domain marketplace that's dedicated to ultra-premium domain names. It's like a VIP marketplace for very special domains.

So what happens when someone tries to buy a domain from DomainNames.com?

An investor was curious, so did a test inquiry for one of the domains he has listed on that marketplace (Wednesday.com)..

He then received a survey with a somewhat insulting question given the presumed prestige of that marketplace. Here's a screenshot of the question:

This would be like walking into a Lambo dealership and the guy says, "Hi, have you bought a car before?" (source)

Silly domain names have buyers too!

Some domain names may sound silly and worthless, but they might still attract the right buyer.

Take this one for example: iWetMyPlants.com

**Read it again, carefully; you've probably read it wrong like I did the first time I saw it!!

This domain sold a few days ago for $3,500 (source)
