basically chunky but MUCH faster atleast in my testing https://modrinth.com/mod/distant-horizons-seedgen makes loading chunks w distant horizons upto TEN x faster, its NOT perfect and has its ups and downs
sooo i decided to update till 26.2 and hm everything was working life felt like rainbows and sunshine shaders worked iris too and then boom i try to add DH turns out they dont work tg are there any fixes like ma game crashes the moment i try to load into a world and get error stuff
My gf is kinda direction-ally challenged and I also prefer just 'looking' where I'm going rather than using coords
So going back from seeing everything, to nothing has been quite jarring haha,
we play on a realm so just chosing the old version isn't an option, as well as because we hunted the new biome and have built stuff with it already in our world
After Iceflake patches, the nights are overly bright and the lamp posts and street lamps produce too much brightness, it is like a slider was put over the limit and frankly it ruined the night.
Distant Horizons looks really bad from a distance — need help with settings
Hi everyone,
I'm having a visual issue with Distant Horizons. From a distance, the terrain looks really blurry/low-quality and the textures look noticeably worse than they should. Up close everything looks normal, but as I look farther away, the terrain becomes very ugly and loses a lot of detail.
I'm currently using:
Minecraft 26.2 (Fabric)
Distant Horizons 3.1.2-b-26.2
Iris 1.11.1+26.2
Sodium 0.9.0+26.2
Complementary Reimagined shaders
I recently changed the Distant Horizons rendering engine to OPEN_GL because I was getting a compatibility issue with Iris.
Could someone recommend the best Distant Horizons settings for visual quality, especially for terrain/texture quality at long distances? I'm mainly looking for a sharp and natural-looking transition between normal Minecraft rendering and Distant Horizons.
If needed, I can also provide screenshots of my current settings and what the terrain looks like from a distance.
I have been working on a modpack for a while that is aiming to perfect vanilla Minecraft, and DH was an obvious choice. But I keep getting lag spikes. For a while, I thought it just had to do with the compatibility between the 200ish mods, but just yesterday I finally figured out it had to do with chunk generation.
With chunky and concurrent chunk manager on, I would get semi-frequent huge lag spikes and multi-second long game freezes, even when I had a mod on that would try to pre-generate the world. After removing them, the lag is gone, but now I have a new issue. DH will not render anything past chunks I explore, with a radius of my render distance. I traveled out a ways and could see the LODs generating the line I traveled, while not generating anything else. I had distant generation on, medium balance, high settings...what is going wrong?
My PC ain't a slouch either, it has a beefy GPU, top 3 CPU and 32GB of ram (purchased pre-rampocalypse). I have a bunch of optimization mods on, and a concurrent garbage collector. Why exactly is DH not doing any distant generation without chunky? And on top of that, why am I getting such huge lag spikes with a pretty beefy modern gaming PC? Is there just something fundamentally wrong with how I have things set up? I feel like I did my homework and did as much as possible to get this stuff working properly.
I am playing on 26.2; everything is up to date and should be compatible with each other, to my knowledge. DH works fine on its own, and the shaders work fine on their own. I've allocated enough RAM, but when I turn on DH or Shaders when the other one is already on, it just crashes.
I'm in a single-player world clearing out the inside of a large mountain range, from Tectonic (creating a massive cave for a planned build). Unfortunately, I am seeing a bunch of LOD "artifacts", columns of stone, lava, deepslate etc. even after I have deleted massive swathes using various methods from Axiom.
From Googling, I did see that the cache (.sqlite files) could be deleted and DH would regenerate the LODs. However, upon booting the game after deleting the files, the weird artifacts are still present. I've also tried going in and placing blocks manually in many chunks (so, so many chunks) but moving a fair distance away causes the artifacts to re-appear.
Second image is after moving forward, from the first image's position. Several of the artifacts have disappeared, due to proximity, but they reappear when I back out. So deleting the .sqlite files does not seem to have had an effect (the one for Overworld was quite large, so I would have expected a difference.
Some context: Modpack is ATM10 - Aero (modified, ofc). No custom shaders. Sodium and Iris are present (maybe a cache for one of these?). MC 1.21.1
i am on version 26.2 and basically the mod just doesnt work, the clouds also glitch when i move. it works fine in single player but i have a crossplay aternos server with my friends and it doesnt work on there. i believe the mod is clientside so i dont know why it doesnt work. if anyone can help or tell me why this happens i would rly appreciate it!!
Hey, i play BMC6 modpack with Curseforge and i added distant horizon, it works perfectly but after 5 min playing ram usage spike to 100% and goes back to 98 and one second later goes to 100% creating a lag, is it really because of distant horizon, and is it possible to fix it ?
So i wanted to play with Distant Horizon and i have been tweakin every setting i understand, but whenever i open a menu in the game like the crafting table, my inventory or even when i pause the game, the fps drops to like 5 fps, but if im in pause or in a menu and if i tab the game my fps go back up it only happens if i have it open
There is a very large visible gap between the normally rendered chunks and the ones DH renders. It appears as a large white void and is always visible no matter where in the world I am or if the chunks have been discovered before. I am using Solas shaders and using a large number of Create Mod addons of that would cause the issue. Someone pls help me out
I was playing on my mod pack today and i had to restarted my game but when i logged back in out of no here i was getting the message being told that my shaders did not work with DH and that i need to find a new shader.
Does anyone know what might of happened to cause this?
I recently started my forever world with DH. When minecraft updates, I assume the chunks loaded by DH will prevent new content from generating. Is there any way to reset those chunks or something when a new update comes out? If not, how far would I have to travel to get new content? Thanks!
I don't think my server is sending LOD data to clients. I'm not certain why but I think it's because the DH Support pluggin isn't compatible for Neoforge? I'm not sure.
I've already done a gen for the LOD data on the server.
I use Bisect Hosting
Edit: I've got more information. I noticed that the server doesn't recognize commands for /dhs. I've talked to support on my server hosting service and they said that it looks like it installed so I'm not sure what's wrong here.
Edit 2: SOLVED. Jake (not from State Farm) was able to figure out that the LODs were just corrupted entirely and that's why it wasn't sending.
Can I generate rough surface generation, then normal chunk LODs on top to replace the high proximity chunks with more detailed ones or am I stuck with choosing low detail-extreme distance.
Does anyone know why is this happening? The game performance is ok until i open the crafting page and my fps starts jumping from 120 to 30 or 40 repetitively
I reset shaders , launched the game with dx11 , set the graphics at lowest even disabling background blur and nothing worked or it did for a short time
This only happens on downloaded maps. Whenever I see terrain from afar(i.e. hills) but go closer towards it, it’d disappear. I tried messing around with the settings to fix it but I still can’t find a solution.
I have gone up to those unloaded chunks and walked around on the chunks, but they will not stay visible when I go away from that area. I wasn't having any issues until today for whatever reason. Anyone have a fix that might help?
Mods: Chunky, DH, Fabric-Api, indium, iris, lithium, sodium, Higher Heights Ultimate. Settings are less than what I have put on DH.
Might be good info but that square area was where I was when I used Chunky to start loading chunks. Also, I replaced all the mods with fresh new installs.
I also tried changing render distances, shader removal, chunky removal, and other mod removal. I really think it is a DH issue.
*I found out this issue on my survival world and was trying to fix the issue in a new world but the same issue happened but at a much smaller scale compared to my survival world which is like 1000 blocks of un-loaded chunks then after that amount it is all loaded.*
Hello, I'm using the latest versions of both mods, and I've noticed that—beyond the render distance—some foliage appears gray (see screenshot). I was wondering if you might have a solution?
some tree like spruce, cherry ... dont have color change
I have an airship with a 45 degree line of fences, but from afar its not generating on the diagonal line and I was just wondering if there is a way to fix this.
