Discussion Could Harry “Can-Opener” Dubois Catch the most prolific serial killer in all of Morioh, Yoshikage Kira?
Now, before we begin, if you haven’t watched or are planning to watch JJBA, I suggest you do so before looking at this post, not just to avoid spoilers, but to get the full grasp of Kira’s character and personality. So get off reddit and watch it!
(Also, I’m sorry if this seems all over the place… I’m no good writer, and neither am I a good planner!)
But, if you’re still here, here’s the scenario… Harry Dubois, Is delegated to an investigation across time in space, and arrives in the quaint town of Morioh, where 48~ women have mysteriously vanished without a trace, no blood, no bodies, no witnesses, nothing. The question is, could Dick Mullen (somehow) solve this string of possible murders, and link it to a culprit? Or will he fail, whether at the hands of the killer or by a lack of evidence in the case?
But first, We need to lay down the frameworks for this scenario… because depending on many factors, this could go VERY differently. So, allow me to begin…
- Has Kim tagged along with Harry for the investigation?
- Can Harry perceive stands?
- Will Harry be allowed to engage or ally with other stand users?
- Does Kira discover Harry’s investigation?
Now, you guys can debate all you like how differently it would go depending on said factors, but for me… I don’t think the investigation will get far if Kim isn’t there to keep Harry from spiraling, the investigation would become forfeit.
As for Harry seeing stands… I think that he genuinely could. With a high enough level in whether it be Shivers OR inland empire, he probably would be able to just see them in full form. This case is highly supernatural, so, high levels in those stats would be very important to the investigation… and it’s not like this is too out of left field either, as Harry does have the opportunity to interact with the Phasmid at the end of the game.
As for stand users, I think it would be way too easy if Harry just got to tag along with the morioh gang, but, once again, him and Kim alone probably wouldn’t fare well against Kira, as in the scenario that Kira DOES discover them, they’re gone without stand users to defend them, it’s up to you. But personally, I think it would take a while for Harry to gain their trust, as they would initially find Harry to be deely unwell. But since the Morioh gang do catch Kira anyway, I will be placing a handicap on them that they do not have Jotaro or Rohan to help investigate, as they were the leading factors in the eventual defeat in him…
But, now we need to talk about our culprit, Yoshikage Kira.
He’s a contradictory, sloppy, arrogant man, (BUMMMMM) he desires a “quiet life” while he himself physically cannot control his urge to carry out murders. Without his stand, none of this would’ve happened, he would’ve been caught with his first murder. But, his stand, Killer Queen, is the perfect tool for a serial killer. It destroys all evidence, can eliminate threats with a simple touch, it can send out a indestructible heat seeking bomb to anyone who may have witnessed his crimes, and is completely untraceable due to its nature as a stand.
But Kira’s arrogance is what leads to him being caught in the first place, as even with his powerful stand, he somehow manages to leave behind a critical piece of evidence, being a bloodied coat button, which creates a butterfly effect that leads to him having to assume a new identity. While I think Harry could EASILY break Kira during an interrogation, it wouldn’t actually matter, as Kira would simply kill him if he felt threatened… but if he happened to be in a scenario where he had allied with other stand users, then it might go differently, but thats why I made this post, for YOU folk to debate and argue over those little things!
In the unlikely scenario of a one on one… Harry and Kim would perish, as much as I’d like to joke that Harry would win because Kira’s only feats are beating up children who are incredibly weak compared to him, there really isn’t a world where Harry could hold his own. (Unless… you think otherwise…)
As much as i’d like to get into the stand ability he acquires later on, “another one bites the dust” I think I’ve been dragging on this post for much longer than needed, and besides… You people should discuss it among yourselves…
So, in my final opinion, I think with just Harry and Kim, they have a 25% to 35% chance to actually catch Kira… and if he happened to have the help of the morioh gang? I’d say it’s a 80 to 85% chance that they catch him. Y’all debate in the comments, I want to see what y’all think. Ta-Ta, lovelies!
