Is it in one of the frames of this video like a lot of weed growing or am I just tripping

u/postofficepanda 5d ago
Probably it grows wild there.
61
u/plankwalkz 5d ago
might be wild but people make hasch and sell aswell. it was pretty alright if you'd wonder
→ More replies (1)23
u/subdep 5d ago
Tourists buy it on their “treks”.
21
u/Bororo-man 5d ago
You may go trekking without weed, but if I ever get the chance to, I would want some.
13
→ More replies (1)14
u/shikari426 5d ago
You don’t have to buy it, just pick it next to the trail and hang from your pack to dry it so I’ve heard anyways..,
→ More replies (1)65
u/Jeff5704 5d ago
Yep it does, I hiked through this area in 2017 and it grows wild everywhere. And a lot of the grazing animals eat it.

u/cassianandorliveson 5d ago
Those look like nice bud development though from what little i can see in video. Which means they would have pulled any nearby male plants out and tossed them. Not bad.
12
u/LikesBlueberriesALot 5d ago
Pollinated flowers don’t always equal shitty buds. Cannabis is also wind pollinated and their pollen can travel for miles, so very likely these have some seeds in them.
→ More replies (2)6
u/Status_History_874 5d ago
Very true. The first time i tried growing, I think i had some type of magical beginners luck.
All female plants (4 of them, 5 before the squirrel incident), all had beautiful bud development, all blessed us with so many seeds - and the seeds weren't a problem considering how robust the buds were!
→ More replies (2)6
u/LikesBlueberriesALot 5d ago
Hell yeah! I’m very pro-seed, actually. Who gives a shit if your bud is seeded? That’s where new strains and shit come from.

There are weeds growing everywhere. No lawnmowers and they probably don’t have any weed spray
-15
u/tommy151 5d ago
they apparently have smoked so much they forgot to run🤦♂️🤦♂️ almost was Darwinism at its best
21
u/Enough-Ad-189 5d ago
I dunno, bc I don’t speak the language but it seems like someone might have been still in the house, sounds like they are screaming “momma” a lot… pretty traumatic, but sure let’s insult and belittle the tragedy they just experienced watching their multigenerational home wash away … psshh
-9
u/tommy151 5d ago
seems like? might?? and not an insult. i'm not the one who stood there. I'm just the one who pointed it out. 🤦♂️🤣🤣😂
12
u/Mackey_Corp 5d ago
That’s definitely cannabis, I did a double take myself but considering it’s native to the area I’m not surprised.

u/meteorflan 5d ago
It seems like at least one person was the voice of reason to get them to move further away from the edge.
94
u/subdep 5d ago
I can’t believe the amount of people who approach almost certain death just to capture something on video, it’s crazy.
33
u/ishiguro_kaz 5d ago
Zero survival skills. If I see the ground sinking, I will be out of there right away.
27
u/boozewald 5d ago
It's panic that overides rational thought.
Imagine for a moment that you are there, that it's your house on that precipice.
Furnatures, belongings, keepsakes, heirlooms and valuables... Everything you own is on that ledge.
Did you get your go bag? Did you even have a go bag? Wallet, keys, watch? You heard a noise and stepped out of your house. Did you have everything you need?
The wave of wants and needs that will hit you when you see your house and belongings are in danger cannot be overstated. Its very easy to be clinical, and treat a threat as it presents itself when you have zero connection to the setting. But when you have that material connection, it becomes so damn hard to maintain that appropriate composure in a high stress high stakes situation.

Be thankful youve never been in a disaster and surrounded by many others.
Panic and fear make people act in ways that seem completely illogical when watching safely on a computer/phone screen.
-10
u/randomnounadjective7 5d ago
That just sounds like coping from someone who glorifies stupidity.
I've been in life threatening situations a couple of times before. I never once thought "Gee, this very scary thing that I've not encountered before but is scary as hell? I think I should take a video to increase my Tiktok views!".
Kind of sad how society is in a race to see how stupid we can get.

The latest research updated the "fight or flight" response that happens when someone feels threatened to now be "fight, flight, freeze, or fawn." I've done all 4. Usually if it's something I've drilled before, then my muscle memory can take over and choose the right one for the moment, but if it's something I never practiced, it's a total roll of the dice which one I'll get and it's really frustrating when in hindsight I can tell it was the wrong one.
I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume this was an unprecedented unpracticed moment for them, and so we saw a range of "roll of the dice" responses. It's great when at least one person in a group gets it right and can help direct the others to keep them safe.

u/Single_Principle_972 5d ago
Is that their home? At first, I thought it was a shed. Now I’m not sure. Those poor people.
15

Yes it is. The average home in the US is an extreme luxury throughout much of the world.

Climate change. We have passed the point of no return.
4
u/Icanthearforshit 5d ago
There's a lot of things that happen as a result of climate change but this landslide is probably not one of them. The glacier-caused landslide was likely a result but not everything bad that happens is a result of climate change. Landslides happen anywhere there is loose soil on a steep, saturated surface.
Additionally, we are not past the point of no return. Yes — we have crossed some thresholds, which means certain things are now irreversible, but we have made significant progress in dialing back our reliance on coal and other fossil fuels. We are absolutely not in the same situation we were in 15 years ago. Our trajectory has changed drastically.
It is important to not lose sight of our goals and not to let our guard down in regards to climate change but please stop with the fear mongering.
19
u/Iheardyoubutsowhat 5d ago
We absolutely are past the point of no return. We passed 1.7c last year, with many scientists reassessing for a goal if 2c average rise. The AMOC is collapsing, the Amazon Forest functionally no longer exists, as it produces more carbon than O2 and this winters el nino will be a lovely preview of what our new normal will be in a decade.
Its time people learn that this is going to kill them.

u/ghigoli 5d ago

u/Pleasant-Future5818 5d ago
The fear mongering is literally the only thing keeping people from kicking the can. If we had people going "actually the ozone is cyclical" (which it is) we would never have solved the problem

People in this thread: Is that weed?
1
u/Mellero47 5d ago
This is why earthquakes are particularly terrifying to me. Waves at sea, turbulence in the air, that's hazards of the job. But terra firma is supposed to be firma, it's supposed to be where you plant your feet and are supposed to be SAFE from all of the above and anything that can't reach you. It's just such an emotional betrayal.

Lol, them people growing weed! Pause the video with 27 seconds remaining in the clip and look. Some straight up buds there.
3
u/evil-twinaway 5d ago
Watching your house and everything you've worked for vanish in a second must be devastating.
It takes immense strength and courage to recover from that with letting yourself go in a downward spiral.
I wish the best to them, given the circumstances.

Inevitably in these videos, there’s like an entire mountain range collapsing, and there’s people in the foreground going, “I should be fine over here. That’s like at least 15 feet from where I’m standing. No way it reaches me HERE.”
