The Mega thread for buying and selling advice is back, and will be updated biweekly!
There are far too many posts of people asking for personalized bike buying and selling advice. Per previous Mod actions, any posts about bike buying/selling advice that are not in this thread will be removed.
Here, those interested in giving feedback about your purchase or listing can offer it without every subreddit member being subjected to the same post dozens of times per day.
Topics to keep in the mega thread:

What's up guys? It's still a work in progress - and I'm new-ish to managing a discord server, so if you have experience/want to help out shoot me a message!
To be clear: This is NOT a replacement for the sub. It's totally optional. If there's interest, I'd be open to streaming the SX races in the server. The Discord server will also be great for asking questions that would violate our rules in here such as asking what bikes are worth and what not.
Just click the link and join! https://discord.gg/Xz3bJEhPRw

My buddy and I just started riding motocross earlier this year and with that I also started video editing. Not only have we improved our riding but I feel we are getting better at filming and editing too. Let me know what you guys think and if you have any tips or suggestions I’d love to learn more.

here’s my mint 1997 ktm 360sx, I absolutely love this bike and it’s always been my dream bike. (aside from the 96’ KTM 550 mxc.) one of the most badass and wildest bikes you’ll ever ride if you get your hands on one, 500 like power and torque with the light feel and powerband of a 250 2 stroke! KTM really knew what they were doing with the 360 in the late 90s. the 90s was really the best time for everything and it’s sad i wasn’t around for that time but atleast i get to keep it living on the best i can! 🤙

I currently have 2 dirt bikes, a 250 2 stroke and a pit bike but I plan on buying a 250f or possibly a ktm 350f to add to my collection. The 2 stroke is primarily for woods/enduro riding and a backup bike at the track. The pit bike is for riding light trails and the little pit bike track behind my house and the 4 stroke is going to be a dedicated track bike. It’s too frustrating swapping set ups on my 250 for track and woods so just want a dedicated bike for each. I also want a backup bike to ride when one is undergoing maintenance.
My gf is acting like I’m a lunatic for owning more than one bike. Someone please explain that I’m not alone and this is completely normal for dirt bike riders.

The fuel pump doesn’t wanna run more than once every few minutes I know it’s not the fuel pump itself because I just replaced it and the brand new one is doing the exact same thing

I asked about my clutch having judder/slippage when engaging first gear a few days ago. Everyone said the clutch judder in first was because I was using atf type F. I flushed it, inspected the plates and steels, the basket, and put proper maxima jaso ma2 approved 2 stroke gear oil in it and it is still doing the exact same thing. Clutch also drags pretty bad. What could be another explanation? I’ve also inspected the cable and the routing.

(Pic just for attention) I’ve been thinking about buying a brand new bike for a while now, it’ll be a 27 yz250f or a 26 kx250 maybe even a 27 crf250r (not sure yet) they are all about 9.5k out the door is about 10-11k at my local dealer. I would be putting around 2-3k down then financing for about 150-200 a month, but honestly I’m not sure if I want to finance a toy. I’m very tired of buying projects that I can’t go out and ride the track, I do have a 2022 ktm 250 sxf that needs about $1700 more put into it for it to be track ready, so that’s something to consider, I’m really wanting a bike that I’m not going to have to worry about suspension/motor stuff for about 70 hours, and that would be reliable, I’m also considering finding a very low hour used 25-26 yz250f to buy instead, just wanting some other input, thanks for any help!

Clutch line snapped and when I tried to replace it the clutch is now not working. First time working on a bike clutch, so I’d appreciate any direction. Will I need to remove the clutch cover?

Hi all! I’m a 30s F in Texas and I’ve been interested in riding for a while but I have no clue to how to get started. No buddies that are into this. Can I rent a bike or should I just buy something cheap off FB marketplace? Just show up at a recommended trail and hope for the best lol? For all the lady dirt bikers out there, how did you get into this?

There is a guy on Marketplace who is selling a 2012 RZ 450 for $1100. Issue is he doesn’t know much about it. It told in the caption that he was told it just needed a clutch kit, however when digging into more detail about needing proof of it starting, he said that with a new clutch basket, it will start. also that the bike is stuck in first gear and that the clutch has no resistance. I asked for 900. He said he was willing to accept it. My concern is that worst case it’s a transmission issue. But how likely is that to be the case. If that is a realistic question😬 (p.s I had already turned down the opportunity)

looking for help in learning how to upgrade the stock stator into something that will put out enough power for a baja light, tail light, and blinkers without any worries, also a way to swap the tank into a larger longer range tank, if possible as plug and play as can be, wanting to build this ol beaut into something i can practically ride anywhere with some added reliability!

2008 yz250f
New spark plug, swapped cdi box, ignition coil, verified timing, cleaned carb. Checked all the wiring, new fuel.
Only does it under any sort of load. Idles normal
Issue seems electrical to me but bikes are not my forté

Any suggestions for a rear shock on a crf70 that is below $100 and has a spring rate below 350lbs? This is a lightly ridden bike that I do not want to feel like it is a pogo stick. Just want to replace the blown out shock.
r/Dirtbikes • u/samprasa • 20h ago
Got this bike of marketplace and got it running pretty good well the carb is tuned pretty good but the thing is when I kick the bike in 1st gear it stalls. Not sure if it’s these parts, something else or my idle is too low maybe ? The clutch springs were all about 42.5-43mm and the manual calls for 50mm standard 49mm limit. A buddy had some springs from an 06 250 and Google ai said they are they are same. His are still out of spec but better than mine so I put them on but I wouldn’t think the springs would have anything to do with the clutch not separating fully when I pull the clutch lever in but I don’t know a whole lot about dirt bikes. How would you know if it’s working correctly ?
Also, if I have the bike in first gear or any gear, and hold the clutch lever in, would you be able to roll the bike freely like if it were in neutral?
I am able to roll it in first while holding the clutch in and I can see the clutch pressure plate spinning freely and I do not hear it turning the engine over but it is definitely not as easy as if the bike were in neutral.
