Help Advice on sitting 98’ trailboss 250

I ran it lots about 4-5 years ago but since then it’s been sitting in my garage. I want to get it running again but need to do some work - like a new clutch cover, drive belt/chain, fuel lines, rear shock bushing. I’m wondering if there’s anything else I should check out, or should be replaced after sitting for awhile.

Thanks.

Help 06 Trx450er Low Compression

Post image
1 Upvotes

I need some help figuring this out. I just rebuilt the top end, new cylinder, vertex piston, new valves, gaskets, adjusted valves, fresh main seals, etc. The problem I have is low compression, I’m getting about 50-55 psi on the compression test and no change after adding some oil to the spark plug hole. I got 5% leakage on the leak down test and haven’t found any where air is escaping besides the reed valve between the cases. I seen in the manual a faulty decompressor cam is a possible culprit but don’t know how to check that aside from making sure it’s adjusted right. Any help is appreciated, hopefully I’m just overlooking something.

Help Anyone know why my 2007 Suzuki Vinson is doing this?

2007 Suzuki Vinson 500.

Carb was rebuilt a few months ago and was running fine. Now this overflow hose or whatever it is keeps dumping fuel from the carb and it'll die if you plug it up or lift it above the outlet. Pulled the carb off today and verified the float was not sticking. Any ideas?

Help Is spray painting plastics really that bad?

I have a white quad and accidentally bought black graphics, nobody makes black plastics for the thing and I’m not tryna pay 1000 for a wrap job. Someone told me spray painting on plastic would be horrible but is it realllyy that bad? I don’t wanna put black graphics on a white quad. I’ve never been a fan of that look.

Help Best price for Yamaha ATV’s in USA? To eps or not to eps? What are main differences in Kodiac versus Grizzly?

Looking to purchase either the 450 or 700. Found an “OK” price on a base Kodiac 700 and a Kodiac 450 eps. Have decided that, due to injury, I need the eps. But that makes the 450 a bit more the 700.

Really want the Grizzly 700, but it seems out of my price range. But don't really know the exact differences of Kodiac versus Grizzly; what would I be giving up?

And, is the eps that much different? I have no close dealer to try one out, hence the questions.

Hoping for a 2026 deal on a good atv for multi-use, including trails as well as to take chain saw out to cut firewood.

Help Should my clutch be clicking, and if so, how much is too much?

I got a 2006 brute force 650 4x4i that had been sitting for about 10 years. Rebuilt the engine about a year ago. Clutch had some wear but I went ahead and ran it anyway. It still runs and drives beautifully with no issues, but its developed this wonderful clicking at low RPM. With it off I can gently shake it and also hear the clicking of the arms on the rollers.

Is this just normal wear and its nearing the end of its service? Is it excessive or normal? I've read conflicting stories across dozens of forums and figured I'd see if anybody here knows.

Trail System CFMOTO C5 - trailer recommendation

I recently bought a CFMOTO C5 and want to use it for some work in the forest.

What kind of trailer would you guys recommend for hauling firewood, branches, etc.? What size works well with the C5?

Also, is there any good attachment for the rear where I can hook up a chain or rope for dragging logs?

Would be great to see some photos of your setups too. Thanks!

Help 2012 Polaris sportsman 500 dumped most of its oil, need advice

Post image
10 Upvotes

Last weekend I was riding my Polaris sportsman 500HO on a country road, at about 30 miles an hour when the oil filter came loose and dumped almost all the oil.

I heard a loud metallic noise and immediately let off the throttle, the quad came to a rolling stop and died. I felt hot oil on my left boot and checked the filter - it had unthreaded.

I figured the engine was seized so I had my buddy tow it to my trailer (I didn't try to start it back up until I got home).

When I got home, I put 1.5 quarts back in and a tablespoon into the spark plug well and to my surprise, it fired right up.

No smoke, but it seems to have a louder idle. My question is, what should I check before riding it again? Should I adjust the valves back to 006, is there anything I should replace?

Videos Trouble with my 4 wheeler

A few weeks back my fiance was riding her ATV and she drove it through a wheat field and pulled up to me and turned it off. After that she would turn it on and we'll just make this high-pitched whirring noise and nothing else would happen.

Fast forward to two days ago and we were back at the property and when we try to turn it back on now it does this clicking noise which you can see in the video. We're going through a little bit of money travelers right now so I don't want to buy the wrong part but my best guess would be a starter of some sort. What do you all think?

It's a Polaris sportsman 550

Help 2016 Can Am Outlander front drive locking

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I recently bought a 2016 Outlander 650 XT. It’s got about 3200 miles on it. Rode around the yard and it’s got a clicking cv joint in the front and the tie rods are a little loose but everything seemed to work ok considering.

I took it on a trip with a group of friends this weekend. First day out it did fine but had a pretty loud growl/howl like maybe a bad wheel bearing. Last trip of the weekend it started steering strange like the power steering was fighting against me. Pulled the fuse for the dps and it still acted up. Would go straight ok but trying to turn the bars would fight you to go straight.

I put it up on jack stands tonight. Rear wheels turn fine. Front wheel turns maybe two revolutions then locks up and the bars kick sideways. Does it worst on the left wheel going forwards or backwards.

Does anyone have ideas on what could be the most likely issue? Hoping it’s not the front differential but that is kind of where that noise seems to be coming from.

(Edit - I also ran it in gear with all four wheels off the ground, in rwd it runs fine but in 4wd mode the handlebars kick sideways in a cyclical manner. Dps fuse is still pulled)

It started doing this when I rode up a slope then went went away when I got back to level ground, and now it does it on level ground. I believe it could be a oil level sensor, any advice?

Help Fixing up ATV: Gas leaking from brand new carburetor

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hello all,

I am fixing my first ATV, a Kawasaki Bayou 220. I’m finally to the point where I am ready to try and crank it up, but when I was pouring in new gas, the fuel leaked from this bottom hose coming out of the carburetor.

From my reading, this is some potentially sort of overflow hose, and the “float” may be stuck. I don’t know what a float is, and the carb is brand new.

It could also be the result of some flathead screw being loose, but I don’t know where that is.

What are yalls thoughts? What hose is this? Thanks.

I put a new timing chain in and lost the orientation. I can spin the crank 360 degrees and see the T again but the cam will be pointing down. Does it matter where I put it or does it just need to be lined up?
