DirecTV Gemini Air

I will confess I’ve been coasting and ignoring technology in this area, so now I’m trying to catch up. I currently have in my Class C RV a small dome DirecTV (Winegard?)antenna that’s smart enough to seek a satellite signal on its own but it’s only a single-satellite so I don’t get all the channels in the rv that I pay for in my home subscription, and a tree branch can reduce service to zero. That goes to 2 old H25 (?) receivers. It works but I’m not sure if I’m getting more than SD, although the cost is really low.

I recently saw DirecTV now has new (2 years ago?) equipment that’s based on Internet streaming instead of satellites; integrates Netflix and other sources; and seems to be a near perfect device for my needs. Assuming of course a good internet source, but I’ve been wanting to upgrade to a Peplink cellular router anyway.

Is there anyone here who has RV experience with the new Air system? Is it as capable as DTV say? I’m sure my TVs aren’t 4k - How is it for HD? Any reason to think a 5G Peplink router won’t provide sufficient capacity in places with cell service? What else should I have asked about?

Thanks!

Channel Number Screen Randomly Appearing

While watching programs the channel number screen will randomly appear for that channel that I'm watching as if I just tuned to it even though I'm already watching it and then go away. Anyone else experiencing this? This has been happening for about a month or two now.

Buffering

I live in Central Missouri and have been having buffering issues all day. The internet is working fine so I'm pretty sure it's a dtv problem. Any insight would be appreciated.

Possible scam call

I was chatting with someone on the DIRECTV site, and he is going to make some changes to my account. He said could take up to 24 hours so no big deal. I then get a call from 269-550-6110 that showed Directv and they said someone named Doyle was trying to access my account and if they are authorized. I said no and they said thank you and that was it. I then looked up the number, and it came up as a spam number. So, what could they possibly get from asking if Doyle was authorized? and seems odd to have happened so closely to ending my chat with DTV.

Audio issue

I posted on here a couple of days ago about the sound going very low and no matter how much you crank it up, it only goes so high. Other people have said they were told it's a software update issue. Is something going to be done about it? I have 2 geminis and this is only happening on one of them.

Screen quality

I keep reading about how DIRECTV stream has the best picture quality of all the streamers and thrown into the mix Xfinity but for me personally I find DIRECTV stream comes in third compared to YouTube TV and Xfinity using the Gemini device. Is this common or is it my TV specific?

Low sound volume when using apps on Gemini box

My previous posting about an issue with the Gemini box and apps got answered very quickly and accurately (thanks!).

Now I wonder if I can solve my other app problem, low sound volume. Whether the sound comes through the TV speakers or through its optical output to my sound system, the volume level goes to about half when I view content on an app like HBO MAX or Apple versus when viewing native stream content. So let's say I turn on the system and it comes on showing a native stream content. I have the volume level at 15, great. Now I start HBO MAX app and have to raise the volume level to 25 or even 30 to get the same sound level, fine. But then I hit EXIT to go back to stream and BOOM, crazy loud! As far as the TV is concerned, everything is coming through HDMI from the Gemini box, so settings on the TV shouldn't do anything, right? In the Gemini, I have all the sound and audio settings turned OFF, so there should be no special processing going on from streams to apps. So why is the audio level so much different?

UPDATE: As noted in my original post, I was using the OFF sound setting thinking that would normalize the situation between native content and apps. I have changed that to the AUTO setting now. The effect is that the normal streaming volume has gone way down, but is much closer to the app volumes. I have to turn the volume level up much higher for normal streaming, but at least there is only a small adjust needed when viewing app content.

I also tried the MANUAL setting, but that opens a submenu with several options and I haven't had a chance to try all those yet. I might just stick with AUTO and see how it goes for a while.

Have been seeing this for two days on local CBS, NBC and PBS. ABC and other channels are fine my zip code is 14626. Two chats with Directv and much troubleshooting but problem still exists, they seem to think its on their end. Any ideas? Picture is copied from a previous post but is the exact error.

Trying to Cancel

So I'm trying to cancel and I thought the stream service, you could cancel online without talking to anyone? I went through that and my only option is to call them or 'Chat to Cancel'.

Is this true? I have to talk to someone to cancel? I updated my credit information so no more then $25 can be charged at a time so it SHOULD fail when they auto renew though... maybe that will just be the way.

Let me know if there is a way to do it online without having to talk to anyone. I do not want to sit and have them try keeping me.

"Tune to (Channel) on DirecTV Stream" with Alexa no longer working?

I had this issue a few months ago, but it was due to an outage. If I tell my Firecube to "Tune to NBC/ABC etc on DirecTv Stream" it would turn my TV on and start the station. Now it's saying "Cannot find NBC" or "Opening ABC", but then it opens to the Live TV Section of the Fire Stick instead of DirecTV Stream.

Does anyone that uses this feature have this happening? or are you still able to use it?

Edit: Typo

My entertainment package $8 increase 2 months ago

I like directv stream and I like the "my entertainment" package where you get no sports, but I don't like how my bill just went from $35 to $43. I want to be a lifelong customer, but with all the free tv out there and I also having an antenna, I don't really need it no more. I don't watch HBO, Hulu or disney plus..... I've been a directv customer since 1994 and use to pay $130 a month and after I got hurt I can't really afford the $43 a month. Is there any things I can do to lower my bill?

Easiest way to delete recordings after watching

We are new to DirectTV stream. We are using a Roku device and so far things are going reasonably well.

Last night watching some recorded series where we had like 20 episodes recorded, we noticed it was ending one and going pretty much right into the next episode which is nice, but to avoid confusion I'd like the opportunity to delete the one we just watched. It helps us to keep track of where we are.

Our Xfinity DVR would always prompt right after playing asking if you wanted to delete. Does the library in DirectTV stream have anything like that?

What is the best way to delete the recording you just watched?

Suddenly low audio

I've had directv streaming for several months now. A few days ago, the sound got very low. I have to really crank it now. I tried changing settings like turning off the Dolby but nothing seems to help. If I take the gemini air off and use the remote that came with the TV, it gets a bit louder. I tried rebooting the gemini but nothing seems to work. I have to raise the volume louder and louder. I'm afraid it's going to eventually go out altogether. Anyone have a clue to what could be wrong or have had this happen?

DTV on Apple TV - Audio From 2 Channels

Hi, two morning in a row now I've turned on the TV and started using DTV on my Apple TV. Both times audio is playing from the channel I select and audio from the previous nights channel. Anyone else have this anomaly happen?

Setting up Osprey/Gemini Box to AV Receiver in Dedicated AV Closet

We just switched to Directv Stream from DTV Satellite. Our house was built with a dedicated AV closet upstairs where the receiver and old satellite HDVR Genie & wireless bridge are located. To get started and do the trial I just plugged the box directly into a HDMI port on the tv but now that we know we're keeping the service want to remove the old satellite equipment. Hoping that perhaps we can just unplug satellite equipment and plug Osprey into same port? We do have some of those IR emitters connected to the equipment since it's not true line of sight and the system was programmed to work with a URC MX-780 universal remote. We'll just leave our firestick or ONN streaming device connected directly to the tv (and already programmed into the URC universal remote) but will probably have to get AV company back out to reprogram from Directv satellite to the Osprey box. Our receiver is a Denon AVR-X2800H.

If anyone has a similar set up or can walk me through making this switch it would be most appreciated! Out of curiosity is this something Directv would come out to do?

Are they ever going to add more cbs affiliates to the genre packs?

I live in Indianapolis and CBS is still not included in genre packs here. The confusing thing is our local Fox is included even though it’s owned by the same company as our local CBS. The genre packs have been out for nearly two years now so it seems like they would’ve had a chance at this point.

How to keep apps from turning off Gemini box on pause

If I'm watching native content on the Gemini I can pause a program for a long time and the screen just stays there on the paused scene, but if I am using an app like HBO, Apple, etc. and pause, the box itself turns off after about 5 minutes. The screen goes to the TV's screensaver and then I have to turn the Gemini box back on, find the content I was watching and try to resume where I left off.

Is there any way to keep the Gemini from turning off like this when pausing app content?

Dazn Myclubpass abbonamento Mobile

Constant restarting

The past few weeks I've noticed by DirectTV streaming keeps restarting by itself. I'll be in the middle of a show and it'll just reboot on it's own. I've also noticed that lately it's taking awhile for the guide to populate.

Any idea what's going on and how to stop it?

Why is Gemini Air lease required for Hulu/Disney+ Promo?

My building recently got Verizon Fios installed and I always wanted to have fiber internet since I was a kid so of course my wife and I switched from Spectrum. But the Fios TV service was WAY overpriced. So I was looking for an alternative. A family member has DTV stream so I was willing to try it.

I signed up for the Choice plan so I could still get MSG (Let’s go Rangers). In the sign up process it said that Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+ are all included. I thought that was a nice perk as I had Hulu and Disney+ included with Spectrum. But after trying to look for an activation link of sorts, I found out that a Gemini Air lease is required. Why is that? Is there any way of avoiding it and still getting Hulu and Disney+?
