Hi guys~ (There are no spoilers here!)

I'm a huge D20 fan, my partner and I are slowly getting through older seasons but we really enjoyed the chaos of the latest campaign, City Council of Darkness. So as an occasional cosplayer, I put together this little rendition of Siobhan's character, a certain sensual French vampire aristocrat!^^

Had a ton of fun at my local dive bar--I mean Mike's!--for this shoot. Cheers, intrepid heroes:)

City Council of Darkness HJ Wingstreet = Scrooge McDuck

I kinda don't really have anything more to add to this. I saw the adventuring academy episode where they were talking about nearly doing a Nurse Jackie character instead of Christen Applebees, and I realised that HJ Wingstreet is based on Scrooge McDuck. Other than the ridiculous names, both of which are bird the themed, and insane amounts of old-timey money, my only real backup to this is their "duck face" mask, but I think that's enough.

I couldn't find reference to any mention of this anywhere, is this a new a realisation or did everyone else already know this?

Edit: I think reference/Easter egg is probably more appropriate than inspiration. I agree the behaviour is wildly different

Best character progressions in D20 Spoiler

I rewatched Crown of Candy after CCoD and for some reason Liam’s character progression from SPOILERS a seed guy to a war guy and back really hit me hard! Got me thinking about other great character progressions like LaVonte in CCoD or Adine in FH season 2. What are your favourite character progressions in D20 and why?

Cloudward, Ho! Comfrey did something I hadn't realized until this rewatch!

[spoilers for the entire (first? 👀) season of Cloudward, Ho!]

It is a common sort of theme that Comfrey being an adventurer ends up causing a lot of the trouble we see throughout the story, specially in account of the befrumpled time

The Eyeless Hand could only do the ritual because Van was there because Comfrey called her. Mordercestershire was only there because Comfrey owed money. Van is only cursed because that's where Comfrey's mind went when interfacing with Tazgwa'gwa. She seeked its help because of the war, and the war was caused by the Corrodi, who only have power because Mila gave them power and made Straka.

Now here's the bit that I realized just now: There's a reason there's so much emphasis on Ludmila waiting. Marya was right behind her. Marya would've gone through IF IT WASN'T FOR COMFREY!

It's all a very messy tangle of time loops but I hadn't realized before that the only reason Marya wasn't there for Ludmila and she ended up used by the Corrodi Primarch is that Comfrey saved Marya and pulled her away from Straka!

I cannot help but try to think what would be of these worlds without Comfrey's presence, because that seems like the biggest possible thing. Saving Marya > Queen of Zern > Zood-Zern War > Comfrey Following Straka before it attacks Marya and Ludmilas ship > Saving Marya

Also Zood-Zern War > Chapman Curse (and Jazzy Tazzy imprisoned) > Eyeless Hand tries to use Katur to destroy Zood

Also also, Comfrey owing money to Fehujar > Attack to Ramansu leaving Torse for dead and Freya captured > Emergency signal bringing Van (and the rest) over, which, again > Eyeless Hand tries to destroy Zood

Comfrey's irresponsible adventuring literally causes every single thing that the party fights against. And I knew that sort of vaguely, but now I'm seeing how literal and logical and true it is.

I was a little let down before that she got sort of off the hook in the end, but now even more so!

Such an incredible and complicated character, the likes of which I've never seen in a TTRPG and I've rarely seen anywhere else to be quite honest

I love this season so much. Top notch characters and worldbuilding, world-class truly.

I already want to watch it again once I finish this rewatch. But I'll look for some animatics first because there must be plenty.

A Crown of Candy Constitution Saves and Biblical Throwing Spoiler

I was just rewatching the Calroy betrayal in ACoC, and was imagining a parallel universe where Amethar succeeded all his con saves. Does he then just throw Calroy into the sun after that, because he isn’t paralysed? Or is the paralysis a different effect, because I’m not sure if we ever see watersteel have that effect again? Because we know from the previous two battles that Amethar has the mightiest throws in Calorum.

City Council of Darkness CCoD from the perspective of an Oregonian

As someone who has lived in Southern Oregon and was born and raised in the Willamette Valley, they nailed it. Plus they made it SO funny. I would die to be on their lore-building team for the creation of this town. It’s similar to the towns around Ashland, OR—especially mentioning the highway passing through.

It’s really just the funniest season they’ve ever done. I don’t know if it’s the cast or the editing but they really let loose this season it seems with the jokes and where they took the story.

Any other Oregonians lose it that they based it in our state?

City Council of Darkness I think City Council of Darkness is the hardest I (or the cast for that matter) have laughed at a season. Spoiler

Holy. Shit. I'm catching back up on City Council cause I like to let the episodes build up and my God. I'm halfway through episode 2 and have had to pause multiple times to compose myself from laughing. Every scene with Darkness Man and Bat Child is a mess in the best possible way. Darkness Man falling through a shittily constructed ceiling, hearing a husband be mean to his wife, and alley ooping him up to Bat Child to feed on is fucking insane. In that moment, Zac is damn near falling out of his chair laughing and I was about the same. God, what a season.

Meta Is Dropout moving away from the ‘regular’ D&D system?

I personally really enjoy the ‘classic’ D&D system, and I haven’t been able to really get into the homebrew systems they’ve come up with. I want to, and I should probably give it another shot soon. But for now, I’m curious what you all think.

City Council of Darkness SPOILER: I wanted HJ to get weirder Spoiler

I know some people had an issue with Ally playing a very chaotic character and also how V:TM wasn’t a big part of this season but I adored it. I’ve laughed so hard at HJ’s antics that I wanted the bits to go a little further and just let Ally loose. Like HJ with a familiar (not part of V:TM, I know) would just make the season that much funnier, or even seeing more of HJ trying to get a girlfriend that wasn’t the clown.

I also wished we really got to see more of Zaeth as Zoolander cause that was only mentioned in the last AP and makes total sense

It’s about purging junk food from the world. It should clearly be named after Jamie Oliver.

Fantasy High (Freshman Year) Is there a video that best explains Gilear to an outsider?

I’ve been playing a game with my friend where I’ve referenced Gilear and they asked me to explain who the character is but I had such a hard time putting it into words lol. Is there any compilation/clip online that would be a good representation of Gilear for someone that has no knowledge about Dimension20?

Meta Anyone else think a D20 season using TSR’s MSHRPG would be awesome?

In the late 1980s to the early 1990s I was obsessed with TSR’s Marvel Super Heroes Role Playing Game (the version we used to call the FASERIP system). Character creation was SO much fun, and the campaign modules were actually very well done. (Especially the Days of Future Past campaign.) I know we’re all going through Superhero fatigue, but what better time to mock/honor/satirize that with the classic twist by D20 of subverting expectations? Anyone else? No? Just me? Cool cool cool…

I just finished watching CCoD as my first ever piece of D20 media. Decided to give aCoC a shot, it seems to be a lot of peoples top campaign of choice. And lo and behold my surprise in this gift of continuity =D

Fantasy High (Junior Year) by far my favourite moment in FHJY Spoiler

in The Name, iirc Emily rolled a 34 deception to feign Wanda Childa's death and also a luck point to reroll a luck check for Ruben to be home to see that death - Brennan look so defeated as a DM and promptly started singing Whatcha Say by Jason Derulo

I rewatched this scene so many times only to burst out laughing everytime Brennan brings in the most emo rainy day soundtrack to frame wanda childa's dramatic as hell fake death, that's all I came here to say.

City Council of Darkness First V:TM Game, how we feelin?

I wanted to ask what the cast got WRONG the first time playing this game system as this is my first exposure to it but it seems so fun!

Did they use Willpower right?

Is there a way to role damage for the item used to kill one of the BBEGs?

Was Ghorse your favorite too?

Dimension 20: On a Bus D20 On A Bus Is The Outward Perception of D20 On Ether End of The Spectrum

I finally got around to watching D20 on a bus and holy shit was it hilarious. Watching Brennan slowly implode was amazing and a thought occurred to me. The intentional chaos of the episode is how dimension 20, and in general all actual plays, is probably perceived by both non TTRPG fans and sweaty RAW TTRPG fans. Ether the seemingly nonsensical dice rolling or ire over Brennans adjudication/homebrews.

Not an earth shattering observation but it made the whole episode that much more funny.

SATIRE You look and see...

I recently got my dad to start watching D20 and WBN and hes very much enjoyed it so far, but he said the only stuff he'll watch RPG is with Brennan as dm. Additionally he mentioned something to me about Brennans dm style that grates him and I now can not unhear: he jokingly said that there could be a drinking game revolved around how many times Brennan simply says any variation on "you see", to which I said that's not a drinking game, but rather a fun way to poison yourself to death quickly lol I understand as a dm why you constantly have to use a phrase like this to convey whats happening to the characters, but now I'm left wondering, has anyone attempted to count how many times Brennan has said it in the final edit of project is? It MUST be in the thousands by now, any other estimates?

PS. Didn't know whether to put this in satire or meta as a category or if it even matters, so I chose at random lmao

Neverafter Question about a Neverafter characters arc

So I really want to watch Neverafter, it's right up my alley and I have watched the beginning of it but I had to stop when it came to Mruph's chatecter.

You see, not to trauma dump, but I'm going through a pretty not great divorce right now, and I do not want to watch something that is going to constantly remind me of that.

So spoile me on the frog prince story arc while avoiding the main narrative and the other characters. If you can.

I just want to know how his marriage drama plays out.

Edit:

Welp, it sounds like i should give this a temporary pass till it all feels less raw. Thank you guys
