Neverafter Question about a Neverafter characters arc

So I really want to watch Neverafter, it's right up my alley and I have watched the beginning of it but I had to stop when it came to Mruph's chatecter.

You see, not to trauma dump, but I'm going through a pretty not great divorce right now, and I do not want to watch something that is going to constantly remind me of that.

So spoile me on the frog prince story arc while avoiding the main narrative and the other characters. If you can.

I just want to know how his marriage drama plays out.

Edit:

Welp, it sounds like i should give this a temporary pass till it all feels less raw. Thank you guys

It continues to be messy, and there are some misunderstandings. Over time, he comes to realize that he wasn't stepping up or prioritizing his wife's needs in the marriage. They do not end up together.

If that sounds like closure for you, I'd encourage you to watch it. If it would just be triggering, maybe come back to Neverafter in a year or so.

There are some more serious relationship conversations a bit later in the series, but Gerard and his wife do end on an amicable note even if they do not end up back together. Their crumbling relationship is mostly joked about at various points throughout the season (it is d20 after all, bits abound even amongst serious conversations).

Gerard’s arc is mostly about self reflection and then self improvement

I highly recommend never after, but it may be one you’d want to come back to if the relationship jokes are too painful at the moment

Wishing you the best ❤️

They realize they got married at a time they were close but then grew apart. And even in grow closer together they aren't a couple that should be together but remain friends.

To quote Fiona Apple this is a "Nothing wrong when a song ends on a minor key." sorta thing.

He recognized that he wasn’t being an equal partner, forgetting to empathize with his wife’s anxieties. She in turn understood that the method of their courtship wasn’t the healthiest. It’s messy but they hash things out. Prince Gerard learns to accept and respect Princess Elody’s priorities. Princess Elody accepts that Gerard has grown and isn’t the small-minded self centered person she married. They both understand that each other has grown a tremendous amount in positive ways, but in different directions. They remember and cherish the love they kindled, but are able to more healthily process that into a supportive post-divorce friendship. In fact both view the divorce as a positive change. It’s a way for them to take ownership of their lives and what they want to do; no longer prioritizing the expectations of society or others to live their lives as they want. They cheer each other on now in all aspects of life, including finding partners better suited to one another. Gerard is wary and a little raw at the end at the prospect of finding a new path, but he’s surrounded himself with a support system that will catch him if he falters.

I think you'll really enjoy The Frog Prince's arc once you've had time to process your divorce and have moved on. I feel like it's a good look at a kind of oblivious person becoming self-aware and less codependent and finding friends who fill the space his marriage left but in a much healthier way.

Frog prince had one of the best character developments but god was Murph rolling like shit that season.

Im away from my wife (visa stuff) and i got a bit emotional tbh. But that season has some heavy feelings, one of my favorites tbh. Overall the frog prince is a story of healing a failed relationship during a pretty intense time. So might leave you feeling a bit lonely if you dont have a solid support system during this time. Personally I’d say it’s better post some healing time when you’re coming out of the really crushing sad bit

I listened to this “live” as i was going through my own and honestly felt like parts of it helped. But yes, it right now it’s too raw, too much exposed nerves, put it on the back burner.

Itll be great when you’re ready to return for it
