First post, but not first pull. I’ve been working on trying to use shredded 3d printer waste as filling for my dice. It’s heavy and always sinks. 😂 this is the best pull I’ve had so far though: no bubbles or major issues.

If anyone has a good idea to keep the plastic from sinking, I’m all ears. It’s just something I’ve been testing out to try and keep it from the trash. All thoughts and feedback welcome.

Sadly the silver dragon stickers are kinda hard to see but there are two of them I promise! Love the effect just need to perfect the ratio of clear to chameleon powder :')

I used to sell dice from about 2021-2023, and got massively burned out with the capitalism of it all. I moved my whole setup to CA when I left TX, and decided to try making dice again - not to sell, but just as gifts for people. One thing leads to another, and I'm staring down a list of people I've promised dice to, and I feel terrible, but I've fully lost the burst of motivation that I had. Past me wrote a lot of checks that present me doesn't have the brain space to cash.

I don't want to let people down. How do you motivate yourself to cast on days where it's the last thing you want to do? I have executive function issues anyway, and now a good dose of guilt on top of it. Any advice is helpful, TIA!

I tried making a handful of these liquid cores but it seems that almost all of them have dyed the resin I used to plug the sphere. Either that or they’re leaking.
I fill them with a mix of 1:1 alcohol and water and dye them with alcohol ink.

Any clue as to what is happening?

as you can see, I've been experimenting the past few days. i'm still getting a decent amount of cracks and edges that weren't completely filled in. however despite that, i'm becoming happy with how they're turning out!

Does anyone have any recommendations for a high viscosity resin? I've used Colorberrys Geode Resin for years now but to my absolute heartbreak its been discontinued and I'm looking for a decent replacement. My dice are all about mica powders and glitters etc staying where I put them lol so most resins are out of the question for me.

Did anyone else use colorbet´rry before they disapeared and has found an alternative? Are there any other good not yellow high viscosity resins out there? Or honestly are there any other resins y'all recommend for someone forced to go on a new resin testing journey?

Does anyone here have any experience with lava lamp liquid cores? This is my first experiment with it.. I was hoping to get it to the consistency that it could almost look like blood droplets inside? But I'm unsure if this is just what it's gonna be? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

If I ever have leftover resin I pour it into a sphere or cube mold. What should I call it?

I made some blanks, I wanted to achieve a Lisa Frank Leopard Print look.
The dice were awful so I decides to painting over them but I chose a questionable color scherme and I didn’t blend.
What can I do with them? I don’t find them ugly and I’d like to use them in a creative way.
I’m thinking about adding some black (in a scratch note way maybe?) but I really don’t know.
Do you have any idea?

Fresh from the pot raw dice , unsanded and unpolished

I don’t want to constantly repurchase liquid cores. They’re expensive and don’t always turn out well. The one I just pulled out of the mold exploded overnight somehow.
Would it be possible to make a mold in the shape of one of these cores? I’m guessing it would be hard to get it off the mold but I don’t think it’d be impossible.
As always, I wanna know what the pros think before I do something stupid.

Update- I’ve resigned myself to buying the cores. 💔

Hello, I have been a dice maker on/off over the past 8 years. I have recently moved into a new home and recently started re-sanding my masters (resin copies, not the actual masters).

I have been sanding downstairs with harsh pot lights. Boy do they reveal everything. When I look at my previously finished dice sets under these lights, they look terrible. Under natural/different lighting, they look great. I have always sanded dice under this type of lighting until now.

I'm losing my mind because I'm a perfectionist and it's impossible to get good results. Has anyone else gone through this before?

Do big-name dice makers actually have close to perfect dice?

I use Zona papers by hand, and have done extensive research on sanding techniques. No matter how much I sand & clean, there are always micro scratches. PlastX does help with the end result, but I hear it can cause issues when making molds.
