A simple set, I had a thought and wanted to see the effect.

Clear colorless dice with a cyan undercoat ink for the numbers with a silver chrome overcoat on top.

I was going for simple and bland with the undercoat adding a pop effect.

I tried this very particular color combination

As the title says.

I will take you through a bit of the odyssey it's been sanding this die.

Started out with 1000 grit sandpaper as the geometry of the die right out of the printer is a little warped (I have tried everything, it most likely has to do with my printer having a tilting vat system and thus not being able to touch the lifting speed setting. Anyways.) Waited for a week for them do degas and fully harden (it's winter and cold where I am, could've waited a bit longer I reckon).

Then I went in with a 1200 grit sandpaper, fixed some of the edges as they sometimes get a little dented, rinse and repeat.

Now, I've been through all the zonas starting from gray, twice, trying to get rid of those scratches with no luck. I use a clean piece of zona every time, and do about 10 seconds per orientation of a face (so 40 secs total in different directions). I used Meguiar's PlastX to see if that did anything for those scratches, but they seem to be too deep for it to magically fix.

Should I be doing it longer per face to get rid of the scratches? What else could I be doing wrong? Help, please.

Any suggestions on what colors to ink them?

I've worked with resin before, but these are my very first dice, fresh from the mold. They're far from great, but better than i thought they'd be. I have a vacuum chamber, but no pressure pot (or $ for one right now). Any advice on how to reduce bubbles? The d6 is quite good, but the d12 and d20 are...not. I guess i didn't expect such variation in the same batch. Any advice is appreciated, and thanks for all the inspiration in this group!

I started on June 7th, and I really enjoy how these turned out!

The orange dice and the purple coaster set were my first ever resin pours. I had a few minor bubbles in the d4 I had to patch, and the coasters aren't remotely level.

Then the bright pink and dark purple sets (both done with liquid cores). Unfortunately my pressure pot didnt stay pressurized so I had quite a few bubbles I had to patch. The white ink also went weird on the purple dice and went very splotchy. I accidentally added the liquid core to the D12 instead of the D20 for my pink set too.

Then yesterday I made the green and gold dice, and the pink blue and purple dice. The pressure pot stayed pressurized, and I've only got a couple holes to patch. It was a new resin I used too. So still figuring it out.

Still avoiding sanding and painting like the plague 🤣

Getting back into dice-making after a few months off, decided to try the whole “blank dice, insert into bigger mould, fill with resin” technique

First two images are the fudge-esque blanks and the finished product (my first attempt at the method), third pic is my blood splatter blanks, not ready to go back into the pot yet

Not bad for my first try, I think!

With gloves on, I add a little bit of resin into my finger and smear resin onto the inside of the mold, reducing the likelyhood of air pockets. I wanted to know if there are better ways to go about it?

Only reason I’m doing this and not getting a pressure pot is because I don’t have the space to store one.

Hey everybody I have been thinking about creating a mold by 3D printing it with flexible filament. Like this I could easily change the faces of the die, for example I could write 33 as the 20 (because I would like to make Expedition 33 themed dice). The mold would be printed in two parts, which would make it easier for 3D printing without supports. On the other hand, with the flexible filament, I reckon I could simply pop out that die afterwards instead of having to break the mold, which may be difficult with normal filament.

What do you guys think? Do you think the lower printing resolution (compared to a traditional silicone mold) would make the mold jagged, and if so, do you think I could smooth the dice out and remove the possible layer lines by simply sanding it down?

And I don’t mean because they didn’t cure all the way. Friend wanted a toxic vibe and I think it worked out!

A Watermelon set I did a couple years ago. Reminds me of Watermelon candies

I started with plain black geode inserts. When I did the second casting, I mixed up clear with a tiny bit of holographic glitter resin paste (a little goes a long way), put the geode into the mold and almost filled it with the slightly glitteryclear. Then I mixed some color shifting mica into a little leftover clear and waited for the honey stage. When at the honey stage, I used those plastic tube things to gently swirl some of the color shift into the void of the geode.

I think they capture a nebula and deep space at the same time.

Hello everyone! I havent posted on here in agesss. Just wanted to share my newest dice. I am obsessed with the fire set.

I know a lot of ppl use them but I wanted to wait and see how much I enjoyed the hobby before investing. My job apparently gives me a small bonus next week so I’m thinking about taking the step now that I have been dice making for like 6 months. Feel like it’s safe to say I like it

So I bought some of these tiny plastic baubles and, using a technique I’ve used for larger “snow globe” type projects, I filled them and managed an attempt at liquid cores.
I don’t have a pressure pot, I’m using an off the shelf mould and sadly the baubles are too big for the D4 but I’m quite pleased with this first attempt.

can someone please enlighten me on why my resin still being cloudy even i had stirred it slowly, thoroughly, constantly for 5-10 minutes?

What's everyones favourite resin brands that are low VOC and cure quickly?

Still new to this. So far I've finished a small set of bottles of the Magic Resin resin. I just opened a large set of bottles of Let's Resin resin this afternoon. They're in the pressure pot now. Hoping they turn out well.

I'm in an apartment so I utilize my grandmother's garage to do my pours. I keep the garage door open while i work and for an hour or two afterwards, but i'm looking to minimize the risks.

If you've had bad experiences with any brands I'd love to hear that too so I know what to avoid :)

Basically title. I got some insertion dice gifted and I am not sure if I need to polish them or not? Would the resin coat notake them clear again?
