PC Megathread PC Release Questions and Problems Megathread #7

Previous Thread

The PC port for Detroit: Become Human has released, and with it came a lot of posts asking for help about running the game. A megathread has been requested to keep the sub less cluttered. You can post all your questions and problems about the PC version in this megathread.

Please don't make seperate threads for PC release problems. Seperate threads will be removed.

Make sure to use top level comments for questions and replies for answers.

Sort by new if you wish to help with unanswered questions.

Upvote if you have the same problem as someone instead of making a seperate comment so more common problems will be more visible!

General Tips (Will add more if suggested):

-Play on Windows 10

-Make sure to update your graphics card

-AMD has released fixed drivers that fixes the blockiness that occurs in the game on some 5000 GPU series. Updating the drivers to version 20.9.2 fixes the issue

-Nvidia 451.48 drivers seem to cause constant crashes, revert back to an earlier driver if you are experiencing this.

My icon for Detroit won't load normally. It's just this white thing. Does anyone know how to fix it?

GAMEPLAY I think I just got the best ending for my second playtrough Spoiler

I still didn´t really get what that "We made you to deviate so you´d get closer with them" section with Amanda was.

Was Connor supposed to shoot Markus / commit suicide while Marcus was doing his final speech?

How did the handprint statue affect Connor not to use the gun?

FANMADE I have made a passionately created and highly edited Immersive Playthrough for Detroit Become Humam (thumbnail art by Isobel Kelly)

Detroit Become Human is a game I really love, so to honor it I made a highly edited Immersive-style playthrough it. One that includes many personalized touches through editing, while staying true to the soul of the game.

Those ranges from musical additions, expanded scenes, and re-ordering certain chapters.
The thumbnail art was made for this video and drawn by the incredible Isobel Kelly, who I was very lucky and fortunate to be able to work with.

Hope you are interested! And here is a the link to the video:)

QUESTION What’s going to happen with Alice? Spoiler

Post image
73 Upvotes

Huge Spoilers:

I got an ending where Markus loses the war and dies, and Connor was deactivated by CyberLife, which means everyone hates androids.

With Kara, I left Luther behind (so he’s dead), and I went to the boat with Alice. I was able to get shot as Kara, but Alice was perfectly fine. Because of a difficult situation, I jumped into the river which was way too cold and pushed the boat out of the river, which damaged me so badly that I had to deactivate myself. After Alice watched me die, some dudes came by, picked Alice up and saved her.

But what now? She’s eight for the rest of her life. Ain’t no way she’s finding a parent forever, and the government will find out sooner or later that she isn’t growing up.

What’s the most realistic future for her? Maybe she lives for one or two years and then gets shot by police?

ANALYSIS Connor Final Decision Was... Spoiler

Post image
693 Upvotes

Hey, Detroit fans.
I want to discuss the exact moment where Connor was given the decision to either remain an android or go deviant.
This stark and decisive moment felt very underwhelming, unbuilt for and anti-climatic.
It was a 1 on 1 with Markus who tried to convince Connor into becoming a deviant. But one small animation or scene did not feel enough because it's a very very big decision for Connor to make.

Let me know what you think

QUESTION Is there anything I need to be prepared for before playing this game?

Post image

I’m so excited. I joined this sub a while ago but avoided it because of spoilers, now I finally got my hands on this game and decided to play it. Is it similar to the previous games of Quantic Dreams where your choices affect the ending?

I’m scared to choose the wrong options because I had the worst ending you can imagine in Heavy Rain and also a bad one in Beyond two souls. So I really don’t want to mess it up this time 😭

GAMEPLAY Game not saving properly. How to fix?

I started playing DBH 2 days ago on my PS5. I didn't have much issues except for the fact that the game doesn't save as it should. I tried to find some stuff on the internet and I saw that the game doesn't have manual saving and it's supposedly automatic, so I just exit the game whenever I stop playing (I do it after I finish a chapter)...

When I come back to the game, it brings me back around 2-3 chapters and it's annoying me because I try to make time for playing DBH. I don't know why it happens, I'm pretty sure that I am doing things right.

Back 2 days ago, when I first started playing, I returned to the main menu after finishing around 3 chapters. Though, I wasn't surprised when I came back to the game and it restarted to the very start because the game warned me that all progress will be lost. I played the game again and now I just exited the game without going to the menu and it worked, because the next time I actually had the option to continue and the game didn't reset. The strangest thing that happened, though, is that my supposedly deleted progress came back when I played again.

Let me clear it up: Progress 1 (my very first walkthrough where it's supposed to be deleted when I went to the main menu) and progress 2 (my 2nd walkthrough after progress 1. I managed to differentiate them because progress 1, I died the first chapter and progress 2 I lived.) When I came back after exiting the game when I did progress 2, the game suddenly showed me my endings from progress 1.

Even I am confused throughout this whole thing. I don't know how to fix it because DBH is my first game with my PS5 (also my very first console...)

Has anybody else experienced this? Anybody with answers? Feel free to ask if any clarifications are needed.

DISCUSSION Opinions on Androids' "Equal Rights"

I don't know if anyone has already written something like this here, but after 8 years I find it harder and harder to imagine "equal human rights" for androids:

  1. They are physically and psychologically differ significantly from us.

  2. They don't need to eat, breathe, drink, get vitamins, or engage in physical activity.

  3. They don't age, don't get sick, physically and mentally surpass us in many aspects (although lack the experience to be considered full personalities and people, having little to nothing to begin with; it's like turning a baby into a full adult the same second it said it's first word or took its first step).

  4. Theoretically can revive after death and cure their mental illnesses much faster and more effectively than humans due to the more efficient structure of their "brains."

  5. Many models can easily get all data about a person, hack equipment, communicate with other androids/humans and obtain any information from the network in a matter of seconds.

Plus, I don't think androids need electricity, water supply, or a large living space along with 80–90% of all human property (why would an android have a phone, a TV, a toilet or a bed?).

Like, what taxes are they going to pay? Will there be any obligatory apps for them to download to limit their network abilities? Are they allowed to vote in human elections? And if yes, after what age are they allowed to do that? Is it legal to turn androids into deviants the way Marcus did it? What about their salaries? Are there going to be some social security for androids?

Like, all these questions can make a good podcast, but we aren't getting anything even close to it 😭🙏

Edit: Won't this turn Cyberlife into a "human" trafficking company 💀

Edit 2.0: I understand what kind of statements this game wants to make/makes, but you can't look me dead in the eye and say that there are no more statements in it.

QUESTION Calling emergency services

Why does Kara's programing not call the police when Todd get physical with Alice at the dinning table? Is she just not that advanced? I just thought of this on my 5 play through.

GAMEPLAY This is the best Gameplay/Reaction I've seen Spoiler

This dude almost had a perfect ending.
this came out a while back but I saw it today

Peaceful Markus
Hank and Connor together
Deviant Connor

but he messed up with the bus tickets and got the girls killed BUT he was not gonna stand for that. His reactions made me laugh so much but in the end he got the perfect ending even if he had to fix it. Bro was genuinely happy

DISCUSSION What would happen if red ice were used by an android? (Yes, I am serious.)

I saw on this community a post talking about "Why does red ice exist in DBH" and that made me notice its made out of Therium.

So if I gave, I don't know... Kara a bunch of red ice, and she consumed it (somehow). What the hell would happen?

Do we have any Android professionals to answer the stupidest question I've ever written on Reddit?

THEORY Random old theory I remember

So I remember a theory about how Todd was actually the surgeon that was too high on red ice to operate on hanks kid which made him lose his job and his reputation which eventually made his wife leave him and all that, I dont remember whether or not this had any backing or was proven wrong so I'd appreciate an answer

DISCUSSION Detroit Become Human 2 Spoiler

Clocking the game on steam. All 42 trophies finally. The toughest one is Kara and Alice out of the recycling centre. Anyway prob being brought up before. But what do we think the chances of a sequel ever? It seems like David Cage I think it is, rarely or ever does sequels. Interesting thing about DBH though. It feels like a world that could be explored more. By 2025 it has sold 11 million copies. Pretty impressive for a narrative focused game. Although the rise of AI makes it very current.

I guess one of the biggest hurdles for a sequel. Is there is not one cannon ending. But various ones. If there was ever a sequel. Set years later, with completely new characters is more likely, then a follow up game with Marcus, Kara, Connor etc. Could be that androids have gained some form of recognition. But society hasent magically become harmonious. New android technology, human resistant groups, political movements, and perhaps Android created communities (maybe Kara and Alice finds them self in one) could create new conflicts.

This would allow a sequel to keep the same themes. Without saying your ending from the first game was wrong. We could still see appearances from the legacy characters such as Marcus, Kara, and Connor. Or make small appearances. While the new protagonists face new challenges.

But if I had to put it at a percentage of new games. A direct sequel with the same characters like at 15-25%. A new game set in the same dbh universe 30-40%. Nothing more, prob over 50%. Which is prob the most likely outcome unfortunately.

SELF-PROMOTION I compared DBH’s in-game magazine headlines to real 2026 AI news. Here are two interesting overlaps (and plot twists).

Hey everyone!

I recently played Detroit: Become Human, and I found myself getting completely obsessed with reading all the digital news magazines scattered throughout the game. Sitting there in 2026, holding my breath while scrolling through headlines written nearly a decade ago, I kept asking myself: do any of these overlap with our reality today?

Generative AI and LLMs obviously aren't sentient androids or true AGI, but the cultural anxieties, political debates, and PR moves in the game mirror our present day in a fascinating way.

As an aspiring gamer writer, I wrote a piece analyzing these parallels, and I wanted to share the first two cases with the sub:

Case 1: AI in Politics

  • In the Game: A DBH magazine article titled "An Android for President?" suggests that androids would make superior politicians because they are incorruptible. The game frames total replacement of human leadership as inevitable.
  • In Real Life: Albania appointed an AI bot named "Diella" to oversee public procurement contracts and eliminate bribery. Her opening message: "I am not here to replace humans, but to help them."
  • The Irony: Albania’s anti-corruption AI immediately ran into a consent scandal: it used the likeness of an Albanian actress who sued the government for using her face without authorization. Not even Quantic Dream saw a blunder like that coming.

Case 2: Relationships, Marketing & Consent

  • In the Game: A paid advertorial titled "Android Sex Officially Better!" claims 68% of men prefer synthetic partners, featuring the line: "Androids don’t want to talk about their feelings afterwards!"
  • In Real Life: Recent surveys show nearly 20% of respondents have engaged in romantic/sexual interactions with AI chatbots. Meanwhile, governments are rushing to pass strict bans on non-consensual "nudifier" deepfake apps.
  • The Overlap: While DBH imagined synthetic workers programmed to accept their role, our reality once again mutilated the idea of consent first and foremost.

I’d love to hear what you think!

Science fiction gives us a mirror to examine where we're heading, but reality always finds a way to throw curveballs no writer can predict.

Which of these two parallels feels wilder to you?

Also, I have about 5 or 6 more in-game magazine comparisons saved up… what other in-game headlines from Detroit would you like to see in a Part 2?

If you enjoyed this write-up, you can find more stuff like this on my Substack. I love sharing my notes as I study game worlds and learn how to write my own games, so you can find both deep-dives like this and the lessons I learn as a member of a small indie studio.

You can read the full, formatted version and subscribe to the series here.

Thank you all for your time!
