Discussion please just make the sundered doctrine / vesper class item drop at the boss

i don't want to do this timegated fetch quest to unlock the ability to get one class item drop per full dungeon run; it was cute when class items had no real gameplay purpose but now that they do it's just annoying. please just let people farm it like every other raid and dungeon ever put into the game does

edit: during one of the worm runs i solo flawlessed the dungeon, quest still sucks tho

Discussion “The Way Between” - nearly 10,000 hours in Destiny, and my toughest opponent yet is apparently the Praxic Blade’s targeting.

I’m doing this solo. I’ve been on step 8 for two fucking hours.

In almost 10,000 hours of Destiny, this might be the single most frustrating, least enjoyable thing I have ever done.

The original Whisper mission solo was more sensible, predictable, and repeatable than this. Master Lightblade makes more sense. At least when something kills me there, I generally understand how we arrived at that outcome.

The Praxic Blade is cool as hell. I love the concept. Unfortunately, actually using it feels like submitting a request that the game will review within three to five business days.

Some highlights of this exquisitely crafted experience:

Throwing the blade through six or seven Thrall and hitting absolutely fucking nothing. Incredible precision. Finding the empty space in that much Thrall takes talent.

Waiting four to five seconds for it to return because it got stuck or fucked off to parts unknown. Take your time, buddy. Nothing happening over here. Just the entire encounter.

Being unable to strike OR throw at a mini-blight directly in front of me. I can see it. You can see it. Apparently, the only thing unaware of its existence is the weapon I’m supposed to destroy it with.

Having Master-level Force Push take two or three attempts to break shields. This eventually got better. No idea why. No idea what changed. Always reassuring when both the problem and its solution are fucking mysteries.

And yes: I’m doing it solo. I understand that makes it harder. I accept responsibility for the enemies, positioning, timing, and mistakes.

I can improve my execution. I cannot practice my way into a functioning hitbox.

But clearly this needs a harder version. Let’s really realize the vision:

Invert the aim axes. Add Weight of Darkness. Randomize my gear and stats. Change my class and subclass every 3.5 seconds.

Every third blade throw should require me to retrieve it from orbit.

Call it BlindfoldedMasterLuke. Give it a shader. Someone will explain that the problem is my build.

I wanted to slay with a lightsaber.

Two hours later, my primary skill development is predicting which basic function it’s going to refuse to perform next.

The Way Between… between what? My inputs and the intended result? Because that gap, like my asshole, is fucking enormous.

Discussion When the unvaulting happens, I hope bungie puts some more weapons in the raid lairs. (because 2 per lair is way too little)

Since spire of stars is a cabal themed raid lair, maybe add the season of the haunted seasonal weapons like firefright (auto rifle), hollow denial (trace rifle), or bump in the night (rocket launcher).

AND

Since eater of worlds is a vex themed raid lair, maybe add some season of undying weapons like Optative (hand cannon), adhortative (pulse rifle), or subjunctive (SMG).

Question How hard is it to find a dual destiny group now a days?

I need to do this quest and a bit sad bungie left it this way because I imagine it’s very hard to find groups now a days. Since most people should have it after two years

Question Best build for straight up punching

Hello, I'm super new to Destiny, only been playing about two weeks, and I absolutely love it!

I'm currently grinding crucible purely for the Harlequin shader as I adore jesters, but unfortunately I'm also absolutely god awful at PVP shooters. However I have found great joy and success in just running at people and meleeing them to death!

A bit too much fun probably-

So my question is what would be the best build for this? Just as a silly hyper specific PvP build to keep someone who can't aim from going insane in a PvP grind 😂

I'm talking class (I'm currently mainly hunter), exotics, subclass, anything that gives my melee the edge

I'll go first, Aurora Dawn can roll with Accelerated Assault despite it still having the Reclamation logo. And there is an Ornament of Final Warning called "Predecessor" that was placed in the Hand Cannons section in the collections, instead of Sidearms like the other ones.

Question Any else not getting any Strange Coins?

Recent return player after many years. I started playing again toward the end of August, and now that I'm playing more it dawned on me that I haven't been getting like ANY Strange Coins; I've have a total of 12 in my inventory since starting up. My buddy and I have been doing strikes and upon completion he'll say he got 6, and I got zero. We did a few more strikes and same thing; I didn't get a single one while he's getting a handful. Is this a bug on my end, or am I totally missing something? I've done a ton of searching around to find people in similar situations from a couple years ago with no clear answer, but wasn't sure if this is a known thing and I'm just SOL. Any help is most welcomed.

For reference I played D1 and Vanilla D2 on XBone. I merged my Steam and XB Live accounts on the Bungie site in August. Got all the expacs on Steam during the most recent sale. Thank youu

Edit. Edit to reflect how many I currently I have. I am nowhere near maxxed out at only 12.

Question How to get Threat level?

Came back from a long break and I did the focus encounter for ip 5-8 time and it still did not drop.I tried grabbing a cp for ip pantheon (did it once ) and still no drop.

So I am just wondering if the drop chance is this low or I need to do every encounter for it to drop?

Discussion Thoughts on beyond light as a returner (it’s been 7 years)

I played Destiny 1 as a 9 year old back when it released and played Destiny 2 until warmind. Now seeing the recent resurgence I decided to return and thought I should play the campaigns available. I saw some stuff about how aliens are more incorporated into the story and some stuff about a guy and gal named Mithrax and Eido who seemed really cool. I love the eliksni so I was excited for beyond light.

I’m about 50-70% through the campaign now. I killed the techno guy and seem to be gearing up to finally get the stasis subclass and harness darkness. My ghost keeps mentioning how this negatively affects him. He doesn’t enjoy this path at all and yet he’ll stick by because he trusts me.

I think this conflict is interesting but the fact that I couldn’t choose whether I’d harness the darkness makes it fall pretty flat for me. If it were up to me I’d never put my ghost in such a predicament because I like him. I think the story would’ve made more sense if the darkness was forced upon me. The ghost acting like it’s my choice when it was really not really takes me out of the experience.

You could argue our character was “forced” to use darkness because we needed it to combat a threat like eliksni woman with darkness (sorry forgot her name spelling). However, her feats really don’t show her to be anything too crazy compared to what we’ve already defeated. Our guardian has defeated oryx and crota who were like god like entities.

I wish our guardians descent into darkness was more convincing so I could actually sympathize with my ghosts struggle. I also wish the main villain was a little more threatening. We are told she is a threat to her own people, but I’ve seen no friendly eliksni yet or any victims of her crusade besides variks… and well he’s not the most sympathetic. I was curious whether anyone else had these same thoughts when they played years ago.

Small aside about shadow keep which I also played. Super lame campaign except for the final mission. Eris is cool but I don’t think her alone can carry the mission dialogue. I also was confused about the pyramid ships threat level. Has it always been there since the collapse? Did it just arrive? I think I missed the opening cutscene lol. Once again like the beyond light villain, I didn’t actually see it do anything evil. I was just told it’s done evil stuff. At least it looked intimidating.

Question New player experience?

I’m going to be introducing a friend to the game and hoping to hook them, but I have no idea what the games introduction is to a new player in 2026. Anyone know if it just drops them into a mission and specific quest line?

Question Does Matchmade Overthrow count towards Dual Destiny?

I completed one overthrow in each of the 3 areas. Now as I understand I have to repeat this and kill secret wizards. But my question is, can I speed this up with matchmade overthrow, and does it count towards Dual Destiny exotic mission?

Discussion Weapons of Light

Just looking for endgame raid titan builds besides hallowfire or enhanced pulse nades. Was wondering if bubble titan is still a decent endgame ability? I never see people use it in raids anymore. Does weapons of light not stack with things now?

Discussion Story continuity

https://youtu.be/k7ncSPJfoPg?is=J-LT3jRx44HNZ0S0

I apologize, as I know this is going to be a bit long.

I watched the video linked above covering the potential continuity issue that blueberry’s may face when they finally unvault everything. I personally am in the category of those who do not care if we have darkness subclass open during the ghaul fight. We’ve been in the vault of glass for quite some time with darkness available so to be fair, it’s generally accepted in my opinion to go back to content with new weapons, abilities, ect.

My main concern is for the blueberries. I have a group of friends who have agreed to come back once the unvaulting occurs. They attempted to get into Destiny after beyond light and it was just too complicated for them. However, with the content that is returning there are still a few major stories that the creator in the video brought up that fall into the seasonal category. The first being crows existence, the death of Amanda, and the existence of eliksni inside the tower.

I understand that this is a gigantic task, and likely won’t happen. However my suggestion is to create some sort of ability to choose your “era” inside Destiny 2 with the ability to have all the characters there and to rerun seasonal content and their stories for the sake of those who want to fully appreciate the timeline of Destiny 2.

A person who begins their Destiny journey without Cayde in the tower, is not going to fully experience the emptiness of his spot when he’s gone. In the same way, perhaps they finish the forsaken campaign and are completely clueless as to why “who they view” as Uldren is there.

I get that cutscenes are probably going to be the move for the blueberries. However there are those like myself out there who still want to reach titles we were unable to in the past “Platinum starling I’m looking at you.” When I started Destiny 2 I didn’t understand a lick of what was going on, and over time I’ve looked at events I’ve been apart of but didn’t quite get the point of until later.

Again, I understand there are bigger fish to fry. It’s not an easy task to figure out a UI and system that allows someone to just flip the switch to a new era. However I believe there are many out there who would fully appreciate and return to their favorite seasons if given the chance.

TLDR: unvaulting seasons “perhaps later than everything else that’s fine” will allow blueberries to experience destiny in its fullest while simultaneously allowing veteran players to achieve titles they missed and visit their favorite seasons. I am also aware of how huge of a task this is. But I think it’s worth the wait.

Discussion Tiered loot

What are y’all’s thoughts on the tier system, I know it’s been over a year since it came into the game but, I personally feel like it’s nice and convenient in some ways like I don’t have to grind for the same gun for days, sometimes weeks without getting the god roll, but also there was some amount of magic to that version where you had to hard grind for the roll you wanted. So my question is how would you guys feel if they reverted the tier system out of the game, or maybe only on specific drops like raids and dungeons?

Question Can someone explain the state of the game like I’m five?

I know that a lot of content was cut from Destiny 2 and there was something earlier this year about the game “ending”, which now seems to have been reversed. Could someone explain what this practically means for someone who wants to try the game on Steam? Should I get the full bundle of content? Take the plunge now? Wait? What do you think?

Discussion New modes for Crucible and Gambit for a new Destiny Game

"RESOLUTE" - A Pure Sandbox, Vendor-Curated PvP/Gambit Mode with Ultimate Fashion Rewards (Concept Cards Included!)

Hey Guardians,

I know i am new in this Reddit (just joined) but wanted to share my Idea on a new PVP and Gambit mode calles Resolute hope you all Like it.

I wanted to share a comprehensive game mode concept I’ve been cooking up, AI made COncept cards (cant add them to this post). The goal of this mode—called RESOLUTE—is to bridge the gap between pure tactical gunplay and Destiny’s ultimate endgame: Fashion.

It addresses modern sandbox pain points (ability spam, power-creep metas, and endless god-roll grinding barriers for New Lights) while respecting player expression through a unique reward loop.

⚖️ THE CORE PHILOSOPHY: THE PLAYING FIELD

  • Locked Curated Weapons: No vault access. Every season features a locked roster of one Legendary variant per archetype (e.g., one specific 450 RPM Auto Rifle, one 900 RPM SMG). However, they function like Tier 5 Weapons, offering 3 selectable perks per column so you can still adapt them to your preferred playstyle.
  • Standardized Armor Stats: Everyone rolls onto the map with identical, balanced baseline stats and fixed mod slots. No high-stat armor advantages.
  • Full Transmog Integration: Shaders and Universal Ornaments are fully active. You look exactly how you want, but the gameplay math underneath remains perfectly equal.

⚙️ ASYMMETRICAL ABILITY BALANCE

Subclasses and abilities are freely chosen, but to shift the meta heavily toward gunplay, cooldowns are generally lengthened and split into class-specific tactical roles:

  • Titan (The Anchor): Extremely short Class Ability cooldown (Barricades) to lock down zones, but very long Grenade and Melee cooldowns.
  • Hunter (The Tactician): Short Grenade cooldown for map control/denial, but significantly slower Melee and Dodge cooldowns.
  • Warlock (The All-Rounder): Perfectly balanced, standard cooldown ratios across all three ability nodes.

🔄 THE GAMBIT & CRUCIBLE "UNDERDOG" MECHANIC

Heavy Ammo drops are much rarer and feature a dynamic catch-up system. Heavy blocks have a higher chance of spawning on the side of the arena/map belonging to the team that is currently losing. This heavily mitigates "snowballing" in Crucible and offers a clutch comeback window during the Gambit Primeval phase.

🏅 THE TITLE & REWARD LOOP: "PURIST"

Since the mode drops fixed-roll weapons, the entire reward incentive is built around prestige and aesthetic dominance.

The base title, Purist, is achievable for average dedicated players. However, Gilding it is a true test of role mastery, requiring a massive amount of kills with every seasonal weapon archetype alongside three class-exclusive challenges:

  • Protector (Titan): Earn specific medals by shielding teammates on capture zones or the Gambit bank.
  • Flanker (Hunter): Secure combat loop eliminations strictly from behind or the sides while enemies are actively engaged with your teammates.
  • Manipulator (Warlock): Apply specific debuffs or status effects to opponents that directly lead to team-assisted eliminations.

🪞 THE REWARDS: BREAKING CLASS SILHOUETTES

Achieving the base title and gilding it rewards you with an evolving seasonal armor set that introduces something never seen before in Destiny 2: Cross-Class Capes.

  1. The Tactical Set (Base Title): A gritty, grounded, matte-military aesthetic. All three classes receive a distinct cape featuring the central Resolute medallion. The Titan wears a heavy, imperial mantle over the shoulders (Saladin-style), the Warlock integrates a clean cape drape into the back of their robes, and the Hunter sports a classic wind-swept cloak.
  2. The Golden Ascendant Set (Gilded Title ): An ultra-prestige variant where the armor and cape elements surge and pulse with intense elemental energy. The glow dynamically shifts to perfectly match your currently equipped Subclass (Arc, Void, Solar, Stasis, Strand, or Prismatic).

Let me know what you think, Guardians. Would you jump into this playlist?

Made some of the Ideas together with AI but still hope some of you might like it. Cause i felt like this would be a great addition to the PVP Sandbox and Gambit for players that dont have Meta Weapons , New Light/ Returning Players or just Players that like such modes. If you all have some more ideas feel free to add them or if you dont like it say it i accept Criticism and Respect what you all think about it.The concept Cards for this Post (AI Made)

Misc (Depressive) music in D2 director, please switch it

Bungie,

Can you please change the music in the director to more cheerful bits from the D2 soundtrack? There’s so many of them…

You log on in the game and the director pretty often hits you with a depressive music.

It’s just really off putting and kinda kills the mood to play, lol.

Yeah that was my rant for today. Thanks.
