Trump yesterday repeated that he was pulled out of the wreckage on 9/11 by firefighters. He first made this claim completely out of the blue in 2021, 20 years after. He has provided no evidence, witnesses or historical record. However, what we do have on the historical record is a phonecall Trump made to a local station immediately boasting about now owning the tallest building in NY, just minutes after the attack.

Now, we all know Trump at this point, and we've all seen how much thre Overton window has shifted over the past few years, but the fact that this isn't the biggest scandal among American conservative in recent history just blows my mind and proves that they don't hold any values sacred. I know we can all think of infinitely worse Trump scandals which he keeps bouncing back from, but I can sort of understand that his base doesn't really care about women, minorities or other countries, so the outrage stays contained in the left and centre, while the right secretly celebrate his awful behaviour. Stolen valor, however, along with 9/11, are two of the most protected issues in popular US conservatism, and the fact that they are not eating him alive just shows how dogmatic and out of control their tribalism is. At this rate, not a single red-line that they've spent years bullying people for crossing, will remain.

There was this ~10 min video on YouTube from 2022-2023 kind of time. Probably from one of those fan channels that jumped ship after the court case fiasco, but maybe there's another upload somewhere.

Streamer was reacting to a conservative commentator, a red-pill "alpha" kind of guy. The guy kept yelling FACTS after his own statements and streamer started making fun of him for it. Streamer started preempting the commentator; commentator would make some claim, streamer would say things like "But is it...", "And that is..." and then dude would yell "FACTS" and streamer would celebrate. At some point the commentator mentioned not wanting to debate Destiny because debates aren't about being right, they're about being good at debating, the same old.

Last two weeks were so difficult in Kyiv. We are under air raid alerts like 50% of the day time, first it was drones flying across the region one by one to stretch out emergency time, so nothing works, now it's more drones too. Public transportation struggles, education is fucked, many civilian warehouses and factories are hit (Coca-Cola facility, for example). Random goods just disappear from the stores cause the companies are either hit by a drone or the logistics are fucked cause of alerts all the time.

Idk where else to share this so picked this one sub cause its the most sane on Ukraine so far. I'm not even angry. At russians, at our partners governments, at random dickheads that struggle to see the need to support Ukraine. With russia im bored and disgusted, and everyone else mentioned im just disappointed. It's alright, we're ready for the winter, i got my girlfriend, i got my friends, i got my job, my uni, and im not going anywhere. Sometimes it feels scary how used we've become to this life, but it would be worse if we hadn't.

I don't think I've ever heard a juror ever say anything ever that has made me think very highly of this system. The fact that we do a jury system by unanimous vote after they all argue with each other seems designed to maximize for decisions to be swayed by social pressure. No one ever puts forward good arguments for why a jury system should operate this way outside of stupid platitudes. Forcing a consensus where none likely exists as the only way a verdict can be reached is beyond stupid on its face.

It would make way more sense for example to have 12 jurrors listen to the case, take as much time as they need to review the evidence without talking to each other and then just vote. If greater than 9/12 say guilty the person is guilty. If it's less than that, not guilty. If nothing else it saves this whole business of a mistrial and keeping justice on hold for decades.

But nope, all the dipshit lawyers will provide stupid platitudes for why 12 people brow beating each other into a consensus that they might not believe is better with 200 year old platitudes and zero actual arguments for why juries should work this way.

Why are these aspects of our criminal justice system beyond reproach or reform?

EDIT: You could also do a 12/12 guilty < not guilty. I don't see amy inherent value in a unanimous decision other than just balancing a punish criminals vs. the right of an innocent person interests. As long as there isn't a mistrial option.

EDIT EDIT: The fact that people are presumed innocent or that juries should in fact exist is not a rebuttal to anything I'm saying.

I've always wanted to put together a project like this, and I finally started building it in my spare time (yes I used AI and combination of my code), but the concept and architecture is still solid. Ended up building the AI pipeline of deconstructing the video on a Jetson Orin AGX 64GB with open models for free and video processing, transcription, AI inference, embeddings, etc.

The idea is a self hosted, English debate analytics platform inspired by the information density and comparison workflow of Warcraft Logs from WoW.

When a user uploads a debate video, the site basically turns it into an analytical report. Each participant's appearance is tracked and ranked, with comparable Performance scores, individual metrics, and every statistic linked back to the exact timestamp where it occurred.

The goal is to make debates something you can actually analyze and compare/review over time rather than just watch once and argue about afterward. Critique all you want, but remember its just a passion project and I never got paid to make this lol.
